- Do not leave dipstick in the vehicle.
Instructions
- Verify that the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Locate the transmission fill tube. It is located between the rear of the engine and the firewall. It may be hidden, so look carefully. The transmission tube has a black cap with a red clip. Do not mistake the engine oil tube with the transmission tube.
- Remove the cap locking pin by gently prying with a flat blade screwdriver. (Refer to Fig A) The top plate of the locking pin is designed to break off during removal. Use a small screwdriver or suitable tool to remove the remainder of the locking pin and remove the cap.

- Start engine and shift through the transmission modes several times with the vehicle stationary and the engine idling.
- WARNING: Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. There is a risk of injury from contusions and burns if you insert your hands into the engine when it is started or when it is running. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
- With the engine idling, insert the dipstick into transmission fill tube until the dipstick stops. The dipstick will be longer than the tube, so do not force it past the stop point. (Refer to Fig B)

- Remove the dipstick and determine the height of the fluid level on the dipstick. (Refer to Fig C)
Fluid Level Check:
- COLD = Approximately 25°C / 77°F
- OPERATING TEMPERATURE = 15 Minutes of Driving 80°C / 180°F
Fig C Description: Illustration of the dipstick showing fluid level markings. The lower marking indicates the 'COLD' fluid level, and the upper marking indicates the 'OPERATING TEMP' fluid level. The text specifies 'COLD' is approximately 25°C / 77°F and 'OPERATING TEMPERATURE' is achieved after 15 minutes of driving at 80°C / 180°F.
- Adjust fluid level as necessary and recheck fluid level. Fluid can be added through the transmission fill tube.
- After checking fluid, replace filler cap, and insert new locking pin. (Refer to Fig D) Ensure locking pin is fully seated.
