It is important to use the included safety fittings and secure furniture properly to the wall, especially if it has a height of 60 cm or more.

Storage for growing children

SMÅSTAD is a storage system developed based on the child's perspective, aiming to make it easier and more fun for children to get dressed independently and keep things organized. The system is designed to adapt to a child's changing needs and development. It comprises a changing table, bench, loft bed with a desk, and various wardrobes and chests of drawers. Smart accessories allow for easy updates to the furniture, extending its lifespan and making it a more economical choice over time.

The SMÅSTAD storage system is designed to be flexible and adaptable, evolving with a child's age and needs. Features like hooks at accessible heights help children manage their clothes independently. The furniture prioritizes safety with soft edges, rounded corners, and door hinges with built-in dampers to prevent finger pinching. The system offers endless possibilities for customization, allowing users to choose frames, fronts, handles, and accessories to create combinations that suit specific needs and spaces. Ready-made combinations are also available for immediate use.

Ages 0-2 years – calm start with safe routines: A SMÅSTAD changing table and storage combination creates a safe and practical space for changing and storing baby essentials. The design allows for personalization with colorful pictures and mobiles as the child develops.

Ages 3-7 years – full speed ahead and a lot of can-do spirit: The storage can be organized into different levels, with higher sections for less frequently used garments and lower, accessible sections for everyday clothes. This encourages independence as children can manage their own belongings and dress themselves.

Ages 8-14 years – personality takes its prominent role: At this age, children explore their identity, and the SMÅSTAD system can reflect this with options like striped doors for a bolder expression. How to build SMÅSTAD

IKEA offers a range of ready-made SMÅSTAD combinations, available in-store and online. These combinations can be adapted to suit individual needs and styles using the SMÅSTAD planning tool, which also allows for custom combination creation from scratch. The process involves four simple steps:

1. Choose frames based on needs and available space.
2. Select door and drawer front styles (neutral or colored).
3. Plan the interior by considering daily routines and storage needs, then complete with drawers, baskets, hooks, and other accessories.
4. Choose handles or knobs to personalize the style.

Good to know about the pull-out wardrobe

The pull-out lower part of the wardrobe provides a clear overview and access from both sides, with hooks for easy hanging of clothes and belongings. The upper part is suitable for storing items not used daily. Key features include:
