Cleaning

WARNING: Use non-flammable cleaner only. Failure to do so can result in fire, explosion, or death.

CAUTION:

  • Do not use abrasive cloths or sponges for cleaning.
  • Do not place hands on the bottom surface when opening/closing doors.

General Cleaning Tips:

  • Both refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically. Clean both sections monthly to prevent odors.
  • Wipe up spills immediately.
  • Unplug the refrigerator or disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Remove all removable parts, such as shelves.
  • Use a clean sponge or soft cloth with mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners.
  • Hand wash, rinse, and dry all surfaces thoroughly.

Exterior:

  • For black stainless steel: Spray glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth and rub in the direction of the grain. Do not spray directly at the display panel. Avoid harsh cleaners.
  • For standard stainless steel: Use a damp microfiber cloth, rub in the direction of the grain, and dry with a paper towel. For stubborn stains, use a few drops of dish soap in water, rinse with hot water, and dry. Avoid harsh cleaners.

Inside Walls:

Allow freezer to warm up so the cloth does not stick.

To remove odors, wash the inside with a mixture of baking soda and warm water (2 tbsp baking soda per 1 quart water). Ensure baking soda is fully dissolved.

Door Liners and Gaskets:

Use a clean sponge or soft cloth with mild detergent in warm water. Do not use waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches, or petroleum-based cleaners.

Plastic Parts (Covers and Panels):

Use a clean sponge or soft cloth with mild detergent in warm water. Do not use glass cleaners, abrasive cleansers, or flammable fluids.

Condenser Coils:

Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush or crevice attachment to clean the condenser cover and vents. Do not remove the panel covering the condenser coil area.

  • If a backflow prevention device is installed, a device for controlling pressure due to thermal expansion must also be installed.
  • Ensure all tubing and fittings are secure and leak-free.

Replacing the Water Filter:

Replace approximately every six months, when the Water Filter LED turns on, or when dispenser output decreases.

To purchase a replacement water filter: Visit a local dealer/distributor, search "water filter" on lg.com, or use replacement cartridges: LT1000P, LT1000PC, LT1000PCS or ADQ747935**.

  1. If the top shelf is in the highest position, it must be removed to access the water filter. To remove a shelf, tilt one side up and lift it out.
  2. Pinch the sides to open the water filter cover.
  3. Pull the water filter downward and turn it counterclockwise before pulling it out. Rotate down completely before removal. ? Replacing the filter may cause a small amount of water (approx. 1 oz.) to drain. Wrap a cloth around the filter cover to catch any leaking water.
  4. Replace with a new water filter. Take it out of packaging, remove protective cover from o-rings. With tabs horizontal, push the new filter into the manifold hole and turn clockwise until it stops.
  5. Close the water filter cover until it clicks.
  6. After replacement, dispense 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approx. 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants. ? Do not dispense continuously; use cycles of 30 seconds ON and 60 seconds OFF.
  7. After changing the filter, press and hold the Water Filter button for three seconds to reset the indicator light.

CAUTION: LG strongly recommends using LG-authorized water filters to prevent water quality issues, leakage, and appliance malfunction.
