Teltonika TRB245 Quick Start Guide v1.3

This document provides a quick start guide for the Teltonika TRB245, a versatile M2M/IoT gateway with LTE Cat 4 capabilities.

Device Overview

Front View

Power LED: PWR indicator.

Input/output connector: A 16-pin terminal block with configurable digital input/output pins, RS232, and RS485 interfaces.

Ethernet port: Standard RJ45 Ethernet connection.

Back View

Mobile network type LEDs: Indicators for 2G, 3G, and 4G network connectivity.

GPS antenna connector: SMA connector for GPS antenna.

Reset button: Button to reset the device.

Mobile antenna connector: SMA connector for mobile antenna.

Mobile signal strength indication LEDs: LEDs indicating the strength of the mobile network signal.

Hardware Installation

  1. Unscrew the two back panel hex bolts and remove the back panel.
  2. Insert SIM card(s) into the SIM socket(s) located on the bottom side of the PCB.
  3. Attach the panel and tighten the hex bolts.
  4. Attach the mobile antenna (maximum torque 0.4 N·m / 3.5 lbf·in).
  5. Connect PSU leads to the 16-pin terminal block: red wire to the top row first contact (+), black wire to the bottom row first contact (-).
  6. Connect the 16-pin terminal block to the gateway's 16-pin connector and plug the power adapter into a power outlet.

16-Pin Connector Pinout

Pin Description
+ 9-30 VDC positive power pin
- Negative/ground power pin
D1, D2, D3 Configurable digital Input/Output pins. Open collector output, max output 30 V, 300 mA or Digital input (0-6 V logic low, 8-30 V logic high).
CTS RS232 clear data to send pin (output).
RTS RS232 request data to send pin (input).
R+, D+ RS485 receiver positive signal pin / RS485 driver positive signal pin.
A Analog input pin (0-30 V analog voltage range).
TX RS232 transmitted data (input).
RX RS232 received data (output).
R-, D- RS485 receiver negative signal / RS485 driver negative signal.

Note: Ground pins are available for D1, D2, D3, A, RS232, and RS485.

Device Configuration

  1. Power on the device and connect the Ethernet cable to your computer.
  2. Allow the gateway to boot up (up to 60 seconds).
  3. Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1.
  4. Log in using the default credentials (admin/admin01).
  5. You will be prompted to change your password for security. The new password must be at least 8 characters long, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and a digit.
  6. The Configuration Wizard will start after changing the password, guiding you through the setup of main operating parameters.
  7. On the Overview page, check the Signal Strength indication to optimize cellular performance by adjusting antennas or device location.

**Higher gain antenna can be connected to compensate for cable attenuation when a cable is used. User is responsible for compliance with legal regulations.
