2-3 Installing the CPU

Guidelines:

  • Ensure CPU compatibility with the motherboard (check GIGABYTE's website).
  • ⚠️ Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord before installation.
  • Locate the CPU's pin one (small triangle) for correct orientation; it cannot be inserted if oriented incorrectly.
  • Apply an even, thin layer of thermal grease on the CPU surface.
  • ⚠️ Do not turn on the computer without a CPU cooler installed to prevent overheating and damage.
  • Set CPU host frequency according to specifications; avoid exceeding hardware limits to ensure peripheral compatibility.

Installation Steps:

  1. Locate pin one on the CPU socket and the CPU (marked by a small triangle).
  2. Completely lift the CPU socket locking lever.
  3. Align the CPU's pin one with the socket's pin one and gently place the CPU into the socket.
  4. ⚠️ Do not force the CPU into the socket if the locking lever is not lifted; this can damage the CPU and socket.

2-4 Installing the Memory

Guidelines:

  • Ensure memory compatibility (capacity, brand, speed, chips). Refer to GIGABYTE's website for supported modules.
  • ⚠️ Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord before installing memory.
  • Memory modules have a foolproof design; if insertion is difficult, try rotating the module 180 degrees.

Dual Channel Memory Configuration:

The motherboard supports Dual Channel Technology with four memory sockets divided into two channels (Channel A: DDR4_2, DDR4_4; Channel B: DDR4_1, DDR4_3). Enabling Dual Channel mode doubles memory bandwidth. For optimal performance, use memory modules of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips. For two modules, install them in DDR4_1 and DDR4_2 sockets.

Recommended Dual Channel Memory Configuration:

Configuration DDR4_4 DDR4_2 DDR4_3 DDR4_1
2 Modules DS/SS DS/SS - - DS/SS
4 Modules DS/SS DS/SS DS/SS DS/SS

(SS=Single-Sided, DS=Double-Sided, "- -"=No Memory)

Dual Channel mode requires at least two memory modules. For optimum performance with two modules, install them in DDR4_1 and DDR4_2 sockets.

2-5 Installing an Expansion Card

Guidelines:

  • Ensure the expansion card is compatible with the motherboard. Refer to the card's manual.
  • ⚠️ Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord before installing an expansion card.

2-6 Back Panel Connectors

The back panel provides various ports:

  • USB 2.0/1.1 Port: For USB devices.
  • PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Port: For connecting a PS/2 mouse or keyboard.
  • HDMI Port: Supports HDCP 2.2, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio, and up to 192 KHz/24bit 7.1-channel LPCM audio. Connects to HDMI-supported monitors. Maximum resolution is 4096x2160@60 Hz (actual resolution depends on monitor). Set HDMI as the default playback device in your OS.
  • RJ-45 LAN Port: Gigabit Ethernet for Internet connection (up to 1 Gbps). Features speed and activity LEDs.
  • Audio Jacks: Line In/Rear Speaker Out (Blue), Line Out/Front Speaker Out (Green), Mic In/Center/Subwoofer Speaker Out (Pink). Supports various channel configurations (2, 4, 5.1, 7.1). Functionality can be adjusted via audio software.

Antenna Connection: Tighten antenna cables to connectors and position antennas for good signal reception.

Cable Removal: When removing cables from back panel connectors, detach from the device first, then the motherboard. Pull cables straight out, do not rock them side-to-side to prevent shorts.
