Connecting to the Default Wi-Fi Network
The GWN7660LR can be used as a standalone access point out of the box, or after a factory reset with Wi-Fi enabled by default. After powering on and connecting to the network, the GWN7660LR will broadcast a default SSID based on its MAC address (GWN[MAC's last 6 digits]) and a random password. The default password information is printed on the MAC tag at the back of the unit.
Accessing the Configuration Interface
A computer connected to the GWN7660LR's SSID or the same network can discover and access its configuration interface using one of the following methods:
Method 1: Discover GWN7660LR using its MAC Address
- Locate the MAC address on the MAC tag of the unit (underside of the device or on the package).
- From a computer on the same network, type the following address in your browser using the GWN7660LR's MAC address:
https://gwn_<mac>.local
. For example, if the MAC address is 00:0B:82:8C:4D:F8, usehttps://gwn_000b828c4df8.local
.
Method 2: Discover GWN7660LR using GWN Discovery Tool
- Download and install the GWN Discovery Tool from: www.grandstream.com/tools/GWNDiscoveryTool.zip
- Open the GWN DiscoveryTool and click Scan.
- The tool will discover all GWN76xx Access Points on the network, showing their MAC and IP addresses.
- Click "Manage Device" to be redirected to the configuration interface, or manually type the displayed IP address in your browser.
- Enter the username ("admin") and password (found on the MAC tag) to log in.
Notes
- Ensure the GWN7660LR is not paired with another GWN76xx Access Point as a slave, GWN7000 Router Series, or GWN.Cloud, as this will prevent access to the configuration interface. If already paired, unpair it or perform a factory reset.
