Operating Instructions

Safety Instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully before use. Save these instructions for future reference.

  • Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in a risk of death, personal injury and/or material damage.
  • The pump must only be connected to a correctly earthed mains outlet and be equipped with leakage protection. Do not expose the power cord or plug to water or other liquids. The power outlet must be protected from moisture.
  • Do not touch the pump when running. Avoid washing or swimming near the water intake and do not let animals enter the water.
  • Do not rinse the pump with water or immerse it in water or any other liquid.
  • Ensure good ventilation.
  • If the pump is not used for an extended period or if the ambient temperature is lower than 4 °C, the pipes and pump must be drained to prevent freezing.
  • Avoid prolonged dry running.
  • The pumped liquid can be hot and be under high pressure. Before dismantling the pump, the shut-off valves before and after the pump must be switched off and the pump and pipes must be drained, to avoid the risk of personal injury.
  • Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate.
  • If the pump is not used for a long time, it should be kept dry and cool in a well ventilated area.
  • Do not pump flammable or explosive liquids or gases.
  • Do not pump liquids containing solid particles or fibres.

Always use hearing protection!

The declared vibration and noise value, which has been measured by a standardised test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The measurement values have been determined in accordance with EN ISO 3744.

WARNING: The actual vibration and noise level when using power tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used and what kind of workpiece is processed. It is therefore necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start-up time).

Assembly and Mounting

Pipe routing

NOTE: This pump must be installed and maintained by qualified personnel and in accordance with these instructions. Installation and operation must comply with current regulations and applicable standards. Pipes must be installed according to these instructions. Protect the pipes against frost in an appropriate manner.

  1. The pump's inlet pipe should be as short and straight as possible. The pump should be installed in a dry and well-ventilated area. It can be installed outdoors if fitted with suitable protection against wind and precipitation.
  2. When installing the pipe system, both the inlet and outlet pipes must be equipped with shut-off valves.

To think about when installing the inlet pipe

  • Do not use soft tubing on the inlet pipe, since the under-pressure can cause the tube to be sucked flat.
  • The bottom valve must be installed vertically, at least 30 cm above the bottom, to avoid the suction of sand or stone.
  • Joints on the inlet pipe must be as straight as possible and joints must be sealed to prevent air intake.
  • The inlet pipe must have a diameter at least as large as the suction port, to ensure sufficient water flow.
  • Pay attention to the water level during use. The bottom valve must not be above the water surface.
  • If the inlet pipe is longer than 10 m, or if the lifting height is greater than 4 m, the inlet pipe must have a diameter greater than the pump's suction port.
  • Pipes must not load the pump mechanically.
  • Install a filter on the inlet pipe to prevent solid particles from entering the pump.

To think about during installation

The outlet pipe must have a diameter at least as large as the outlet port, to reduce the pressure drop and fluid noise.

Diagram illustrating correct and incorrect pump installation. Correct installation shows the pump with the inlet pipe submerged at least 8 cm below the water surface. Incorrect installation shows the pump with the inlet pipe too close to the surface or exposed to potential contamination.

Use

Intended use

The pump is intended to supply water for households or machines, boosting, watering etc. The pump may only be used for the transport of water and other non-corrosive liquids with a low viscosity. The fluid's pH value must be between 6.5 and 8.5.

NOTE: The pump can be used in automated systems, together with pressure switches, pressure vessels, etc. In an automated system, the pump starts when a tap is opened and automatically stops when the tap is closed. If the pump is used with a water tower, the water tower's upper level switch is used to start and stop the pump.

Use

WARNING: Do not start the pump until the pump chamber is filled with water.

  1. Rotate the impeller before starting and check that it can rotate freely.
  2. Unscrew the filler plug, fill the pump chamber with clean water and refit the filler plug when the chamber is completely filled and free of residual air.
  3. Initially set the valve at a low flow and adjust the flow to the desired level once the water has started to flow (approved intervals are shown on the type plate).

Maintenance

NOTE: Disconnect the pump from the mains supply, before any maintenance is performed on it. Do not touch the electric garden pump until it has been switched off and disconnected from the power supply for at least five minutes.

Storage and maintenance

  • If there is a risk of frost, open the drain plug and drain all water from the pump. Fill the pump with water before starting it again.
  • Drain the water from the pump, if it is not going to be used for a prolonged period.
  • Clean the pump housing, impeller and stand, apply anti-corrosion oil and store in a dry place with good ventilation.
  • If the pump has not been used for a long time, it should be filled with water before starting.
  • Pay attention to ventilation at high ambient temperatures and/or high humidity. Avoid condensation on electrical components - risk of electrical fault.
  • If the motor becomes very hot or the motor sounds abnormal, immediately shut off the pump and check according to the troubleshooting chart.

Troubleshooting

OBS! Turn off the pump and disconnect it from the power supply before checking.
