Installation Location:
Select a suitable location with easy access to an electrical wall outlet and the household cold water supply line.
Water Line Hook-Up:
- IMPORTANT: Turn off the household cold water supply line.
- Open the cold water faucet to purge the system and minimize leakage.
- COPPER PIPE PLUMBING: Cut and remove a section of the cold water line above any manual shut-off valve. Clean copper pipe ends with emery cloth and apply flux. Slide parts together for soldering, following manufacturer's instructions for the shut-off valve (B).
- FLEXIBLE PIPE PLUMBING: Cut and remove a section of the cold water line above any manual shut-off valve. Follow manufacturer's instructions for the Quick-Grip Tee (D) and Shut-Off Valve (E).
- Close the newly installed Shut-Off Valve (Figure 1A/1B). Slowly re-open the cold water supply line and check for leaks. Repair immediately if leaks are detected.
- The dispenser includes 5 meters (16 feet) of 1/4" OD Flexible Tubing. Cut to length, ensuring straight ends (Figure 1 & 2). Remove compression nut and ferrule from the valve, install them onto the tubing (Figure 3). Insert tubing into the valve until it stops (Figure 4). Slide nut and ferrule toward the valve and tighten firmly with a wrench (Figure 5). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Start Up:
- Slowly open the Shut-off Valve (Figure 6). Check all connections for leaks before fully opening water valves. Repair leaks immediately.
- Wait for the cold water tank to fill.
- Press the Cold Water Dispense Button and let water run until the tank is empty. Dump the water.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 five times.
The first tank of water may have a dark discoloration (carbon deposits), which is normal and will disappear quickly.
Filter Replacement:
Replace filter every 6 months. Order replacement filters online at ghpgroupinc.com. Use only original PUR filters (Part # PQCCRB).
CAUTION: Turn off the water supply using the Manual Shut-off Valve before replacing filters. Remove and empty the drip tray. If an audible alarm sounds, refer to "WATER LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM".
The filter is located behind the Lower Front Panel. Follow these steps:
- Turn off the manual Shut-off valve (Figure 6).
- Pull out the Drip Tray. Remove the Phillips Screw securing the Lower Front Panel. Remove the panel (Figure 10).
- Check the Red Locking Tab (Filter Head) is in the "Unlock" position (Figure 11).
- Pull the filter out by swinging the housing toward you.
- Remove the old filter by turning counterclockwise.
- Insert the new filter, turn clockwise ¼ turn until it stops. Push the Red Locking Tab to the "Locked" position.
- Push the filter back into the clip.
- Refer to Start Up instructions (Steps 1-4) for remaining steps.
If the Red Locking Tab does not engage, the filter may not be aligned correctly. Ensure colored dots on the filter head and filter are aligned.
Water Leakage Detection System:
The dispenser has a low voltage water leakage detection system inside the filter compartment, covered by the drip tray (Figure 12a). If water contacts the system, an alarm will sound until water is removed. The water inlet solenoid valve is deactivated, suspending water entry until the alarm is silenced. Remove accumulated water around the sensors (Figure 12b) with a sponge or paper towels. The valve reactivates automatically once the alarm is silenced.
Initial Product Cleaning:
Clean regularly (every 4 months) for efficiency and hygiene.
- Disconnect the power cord before any cleaning, maintenance, or filter replacement.
- Turn off the water supply using the manual shut-off valve.
- Remove the top cover by unscrewing the two Phillips screws at the rear (Figure 13).
- Carefully lift off the top cover.
- Pull the reservoir cover upward (Figure 14).
- Fill the reservoir with 2 cups (0.5L) vinegar and 6 cups (1.5L) hot water. Let stand for 20 minutes (Figure 15).
- Place a jug under both spigots and press taps until cleaning solution stops flowing (Figure 16).
- Flush the reservoir with clean water, pressing both dispensing taps until water stops flowing.
- To drain remaining water, unscrew the drain cap and plug at the rear (Figure 17). Collect water in a bucket. Flush reservoir again with clean water.
- Re-install and tighten the drain cap and plug.
- Re-install the reservoir cover.
- Re-install the top cover and secure with screws.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Re-open the manual shut-off valve. Water will enter the system and stop automatically.
- Place a container under spigots and press buttons to ensure normal water flow.
Operation Instructions
Child Resistant Safety Switch (See Figure 18 & 19):
CAUTION: Do not allow children to use the hot water dispensing button without proper supervision.
To prevent accidental dispensing of hot water, the child safety switch must be activated. Slide the switch sideways (Figure 18), then press and hold the hot water button (Figure 19). Release the switch once water flows. The switch automatically re-engages when the hot water button is released.
Dispensing Hot Water (See Figure 20):
WARNING: Hot water is heated to approximately 90°C (194°F). Temperatures above 52°C (125°F) can cause severe burns.
The Kettle Feature (hot water) system saves energy by activating only when the red Kettle Feature button is pressed. It delivers hot water in about 3 minutes. To stop a cycle, press the red button again.
- Press the red Kettle Feature button. The red LED will flash, indicating heating is in progress (approx. 3 minutes). A steady red LED means water is at optimal temperature.
- To dispense hot water, place a cup under the spigot, activate the child safety switch, and press the hot water button (red indicator line) until the desired amount is dispensed. The red LED will turn off automatically during dispensing.
Hot water temperature is not adjustable.
Dispensing Cold Water:
The cooling system activates automatically when the power cord is connected.
- A blue LED "off" indicates the cooling cycle is operational. A blue LED "on" means the compressor is off and cold water is at optimal temperature.
- To dispense cold water, place a cup under the spigot and press the cold water button (blue indicator line) until the desired amount is dispensed.
The cold water temperature is factory-set for Energy Star compliance, delivering water between 8°C - 10°C (46°F - 50°F).
Adjusting the Cold Water Temperature (See Figure 21):
The cold water temperature is controlled by a thermostat at the rear of the dispenser. Turn the thermostat set screw (Figure 21) clockwise for warmer water or counterclockwise for colder water. If water is not dispensing correctly, ice may be building up; adjust to a warmer setting.
Adjusting the cold water temperature may affect Energy Star efficiency.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning the Drip Tray (See Figure 22):
The drip tray is NOT dishwasher safe. Remove, empty, and clean regularly with mild soap and water. For tough deposits, use vinegar. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Replace the grill and install the tray.
Cleaning the Outside of the Water Dispenser:
Wipe the exterior with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Rinse with clean water and dry. Vacuum or sweep dust from the condenser coils (Figure 23) at the back for better cooling efficiency.
Internal Reservoir Overflow Protection:
The cold tank has a float device (Figure 24) that controls water levels. As water rises, the float closes the inlet valve. As water falls, the float opens the valve for replenishment.
Draining the Reservoirs:
IMPORTANT! Unplug the dispenser. Dispense hot water until it cools to a safe level.
- Turn off the water supply using the manual shut-off valve.
- Press both dispensing buttons until water stops flowing (Figure 25).
- Place a bucket under the drain valve at the rear (Figure 26).
