Caring for Your Duvets and Pillows

General Care for All Materials

• Rolled-up duvets and pillows are compressed for transport. It may take a few days for them to regain their original shape and fluffiness.
• Mites thrive in damp, warm, and dark environments. Air your duvets and pillows each morning after waking to allow residual moisture to evaporate before placing them back on the bed.
• All IKEA duvets and pillows can be washed at 60°C (except for memory foam pillows, where only the cover is washable). This temperature kills mites. Follow the washing instructions carefully to keep your duvets and pillows free from mites and dirt.
• Air duvets and pillows regularly to keep them dust-free, fresh, and dry.
• A pillow protector extends the lifespan of your pillow and protects it from dirt.

Specific Care for Natural Materials

• Down and feathers have a natural odor that dissipates once the product is unpacked and aired for a while.
• Wash duvets and pillows with feathers or down separately, using only 1/3 of the normal amount of detergent.
• Tumble dry duvets and pillows made from natural materials immediately after washing until the filling is completely dry. Using tennis balls in the dryer helps keep the filling moving and dries it more efficiently, restoring fluffiness and speeding up drying. Ensure the balls are colorfast.

Specific Care for Synthetic Materials

Synthetic duvets and pillows are very easy to care for and can be washed regularly. They also dry relatively quickly.

Memory Foam Care

Due to airtight packaging, memory foam may have an initial 'factory smell'. This smell disappears after opening the package and airing the pillow for some time before use. Please note that due to the unique properties of this material, it may take some time to get used to the pillow. A memory foam pillow conforms to your head and neck, relaxing your muscles, leading to less movement and better sleep. The removable cover can be washed at 60°C. The filling is not washable. Please follow the care instructions on the label.
