Getting Started with the Drive Smarter® App

Download the Drive Smarter® app to receive advance warning of laser and radar alerts from other connected detectors, easily adjust your features, alerts, and settings on any supported device, and update your device software through the app. Download today!

Mounting Options

Dashboard Mounting Option

Attach Hook & Loop: Attach the included hook and loop fastener to the detector.
Attach to Dashboard: Secure the detector to the dashboard surface using the attached hook and loop.
Connect Power: Connect the detector to a 12V power source using the provided power cord. ↓

Windshield Mounting Option

Assemble Bracket: Assemble the suction cup bracket by attaching the arm to the base.
Adjust Bracket: Adjust the angle of the suction cup bracket so the RAD 480i will be level with the road.
Mount Bracket: Firmly press the suction cup bracket onto the windshield.
Attach Detector: Slide or clip the RAD 480i onto the mounted suction cup bracket.
Connect Power: Connect the detector to a 12V power source using the provided power cord. ↓

Connecting to Your Smartphone via Bluetooth®

Power on the RAD 480i.
Download and install the Drive Smarter® app on your smartphone.
After registering your account in the Drive Smarter® app, press the Account button and then select "Add New Device". (Note: The first time you run the app, you will be prompted to register a new account.)

Troubleshooting Tips

If your unit is not operating properly, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

Make sure the power cord is properly connected to your RAD 480i.
Make sure the socket of your vehicle's cigarette lighter or 12V accessory port is clean and free of corrosion.
Make sure the power cord's adapter is firmly seated in the socket of the cigarette lighter or 12V accessory port and the power LED is on [power-led].
