Firmware Updates

Leica is committed to continuously improving and optimizing camera functionality through software updates. These updates can enhance features and add new capabilities retrospectively.

Firmware updates are released at irregular intervals and can be downloaded from the Leica website. Users will be notified of new updates upon registering their camera.

Finding the Current Firmware Version:

• Navigate to Camera Information in the main menu.
• The current firmware versions will be displayed.

Extended Functionality:

• Support for LEICA USB-C DC Coupler DC-SCL6.

Executing a Firmware Update

Important Warning: Interruption of a firmware update can cause severe and irreparable damage to the equipment. Please adhere strictly to the following precautions:

• Do not switch off the camera during the update.
• Do not remove the memory card.
• Do not remove the rechargeable battery.
• Do not remove the lens.

Notes:

• A warning will appear if the battery charge is insufficient. Recharge the battery before proceeding.
• Additional device and country-specific registration marks and numbers can be found in the Camera Information submenu.

Preparation for Firmware Update

• Ensure the rechargeable battery is fully charged and inserted.
• Remove the second SD memory card, if applicable.
• Remove any existing firmware files from the memory card. It is recommended to save recordings and reformat the memory card before the update. (Caution: Formatting erases all data on the memory card.)
• Download the latest firmware version from the Leica website.
• Save the downloaded firmware file to the main directory of the memory card (not in a sub-directory).
• Insert the memory card into the camera.
• Switch the camera on.

Updating the Camera Firmware

1. Preparation:
• Select Camera Information in the main menu.
• Select Camera Firmware Version.
• Select Start Update.
• A prompt with camera information will be displayed.
• Check the version information.
• Select Yes.
• A prompt asking 'Save profiles on SD Card?' will appear. Select Yes/No as desired.
• The update will begin automatically. The lower status LED will flash during the process.
• Upon successful completion, an on-screen message will appear, prompting you to restart the device.
2. Switch the camera off and then on again.

Note: After restarting, you will need to reconfigure date & time and preferred language settings. Relevant prompts will guide you through this process.

Updating the Lens Firmware

Firmware updates for lenses are available where applicable. Follow the same instructions as for camera firmware updates.

1. Preparation:
• Select Camera Information in the main menu.
• Select Lens Firmware Version.
• Select Start Update.
• A prompt with camera information will be displayed.
• Check the version information.
• Select Yes.
• The update will begin automatically. The lower status LED will flash during this process.
• Upon successful completion, an on-screen message will appear, prompting you to restart the device.
2. Switch the camera off and on again.

Updating the Adapter Firmware

Firmware updates for adapters are available where applicable. Follow the same instructions as for camera firmware updates.

1. Preparation:
• Select Camera Information in the main menu.
• Select Lens Firmware Version (Note: This menu item is only visible if an adapter is mounted and active).
• Select Start Update.
• A prompt with camera information will be displayed.
• Check the version information.
• Select Yes.
• The update will begin automatically. The lower status LED will flash during this process.
• Upon successful completion, an on-screen message will appear, prompting you to restart the device.
2. Switch the camera off and on again.
