La Crosse Technology Wattz 2.0 Time & Weather Station

This document serves as a setup guide and user manual for the La Crosse Technology Wattz 2.0 Time & Weather Station, model CA74962. It details the features, setup, and operation of the device, which includes an outdoor remote sensor, wireless charging, projection display, and alarm clock functions.

Basics

Initial Setup

Power Up:

  • Insert 2 "AA" batteries into the Outdoor Sensor.
  • Plug the 5V Power Adapter into an outlet, then connect it to the Power Jack on the bottom of the weather station.
  • Remove the Insulation Tab from the Station's Battery Compartment.

A greeting will appear on the LCD, and the station will automatically enter the Settings Menu.

Settings Menu Order:

Beep On/Off → 12/24 Format → Hour → Minutes → Year → Month → Date → Celsius/Fahrenheit

Note: To enter the Settings Menu after initial startup, hold the [SET] button on the top of the station.

Use the [+] and [-] buttons on the top of the station to adjust values. Press the [SET] button to confirm a selection and move to the next setting. You may exit the Settings Menu at any time by pressing the [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] button.

Note: The weekday will set automatically after the year, month, and date settings are adjusted.

Buttons

The weather station features several buttons for operation:

  1. [DISPLAY OPTION]: Tap to select LCD display mode options.
  2. [-] (MINUS): Press to decrease values; hold to change values quickly.
  3. [SET]: Hold to enter the Settings Menu.
  4. [+] (PLUS): Press to increase values; hold to change values quickly. Hold to search for the Outdoor Sensor.
  5. [PROJ.]: Press to adjust projection intensity. Hold to change projection mode.
  6. [ALARM]: Press to activate/deactivate the alarm. Hold to enter alarm settings.
  7. [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] [Z²]: Press to adjust backlight intensity or snooze a sounding alarm. Hold for Auto-Dim Settings.
  8. ROTATION WHEEL: Scroll to rotate the projection image (left or right).

LCD Display

The LCD screen displays various information:

  • Time
  • Auto Dim Indicator
  • AM/PM Indicator
  • Alarm Indicator
  • Outdoor Temperature/Humidity
  • Display Modes
  • Calendar
  • Temperature
  • Alarm
  • Auto-scroll all modes
  • Low Battery Indicator

Accessories & Ports

The station includes ports for charging and accessory storage:

  • Accessories Compartment: Stores the Smart Watch Stand, Earbud Dock, Dock Cover, Thin Cable Fitting, and Thick Cable Fitting.
  • Ports: USB Type-C Charging Port, USB Type-A Charging Port, Power Jack.
  • Backup Battery: CR2032 battery compartment for settings backup.

Note: Accessories are stored in the bottom compartment; the Dock Cover is on the top.

LCD Display Brightness

Adjusting Brightness: Press the [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] button to cycle through 4 brightness levels, plus an OFF option.

Auto-Dim Settings:

  1. Hold the [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] button to enter the Auto-Dim Settings Menu.
  2. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to turn Auto-Dim ON or OFF, then press [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] to confirm.
  3. Use [+] and [-] to set the starting hour, then press [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] to confirm.
  4. Use [+] and [-] to set the stopping hour, then press [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] to confirm and exit.

The [DIM icon] will appear on the LCD when Auto-Dim is activated.

Display Modes

Selecting Display Mode: Tap the button on the front of the station to select a display mode or automatically cycle through all options. Red icons on the right side of the LCD indicate the current mode.

Display Mode Options:

  • Outdoor Temperature/Humidity
  • Indoor Temperature/Humidity
  • Weekday, Month + Date
  • Alarm Time ON/OFF
  • Snooze Countdown

The [Cycle Mode icon] will appear when the auto-scroll mode is active.

Alarm

Time Alarm

Setting the Alarm:

  1. Hold the [ALARM] button to enter the Alarm Settings Menu.
  2. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to set the desired time, then press [ALARM] to confirm.
  3. Use [+] and [-] to set the desired snooze duration (5 to 120 minutes), then press [ALARM] to confirm and exit the menu.

Your time alarm is now active, indicated by the [Alarm icon] on the LCD.

Activating & Deactivating the Alarm: Press the [ALARM] button to toggle the alarm ON or OFF. The [Alarm icon] will appear on the normal time display when the alarm is active.

Ascending Alarm: The alarm's frequency will increase over a 2-minute period. It will stop if not snoozed or turned off.

Snooze Duration Countdown: When the alarm sounds, press the [SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT] button to snooze for the preselected duration. A countdown will appear. The alarm will sound again when the countdown reaches "00". The snooze feature can be repeated.

Projection

Adjusting the Projection Image

Projection Brightness: Press the [PROJ.] button to adjust brightness (HI/LOW/OFF).

The Projection Arm tilts forward and backward to position the projected image. Use the Rotation Wheel on the Projection Arm to rotate the viewing angle.

Note: The fixed focus projection image is clearest at approximately 7 feet (2.1 meters).

Projection Options

Projection Image Options: Choose to display the time, outdoor temperature/humidity, or cycle through both.

Selecting Your Projection Image:

  1. If an outdoor sensor is connected, hold the [PROJ.] button to toggle between projection options. If no sensor is connected, this button only adjusts brightness.
  2. Time is the default projection image. Hold and release [PROJ.] to switch between modes.

Available modes include Time-Only Projection, Outdoor Temperature & Humidity-Only Projection, and Cycle Through Both Options.

Charging

5W Wireless Charger

Charging your Qi-Enabled Phone: Place your Qi-enabled phone centered on the platform. The blue charging indicator light will be solid when charging. A flashing light indicates misalignment or incompatibility; try removing bulky cases.

Phone Compatibility: Works with Qi-enabled phones like iPhone 8 or newer, Galaxy S8 or newer, and Galaxy Note 8 or newer. Compatibility may vary by model and case.

Adjustable Charging Coil

Slide the Phone Charger Adjustment Handle up or down to best match your device for optimal charging. Note that actual charging times depend on the mobile device, even with 5W charging capability.

USB Charging Ports

The station features a USB Type "A" and a USB Type "C" charging port on the back. Connect your device's USB charging cable (not included). Charging times may vary. USB Power Output: 1 Amp maximum current.

Earbud Charging

Follow these steps to charge earbuds:

  1. Remove the Dock Cover from the top of the station.
  2. Open the bottom Accessory Compartment to find the Earbud Dock and Cable Fittings.
  3. Feed your earbud charging cable (not included) up through the Earbud Dock and secure it with the appropriate cable fitting (thick or thin).
  4. Wrap excess cable inside the compartment and feed the charging end through the bottom hole.
  5. Plug the cable into the 1 Amp USB Charging Port.

Smart Watch Stand

The removable Smart Watch Stand is designed to fit various smart watch brands. Its open design allows easy access to the watch's charging port. To attach:

  1. Remove the stand from the Accessory Compartment.
  2. Insert the stand into the left side of the unit.
  3. Place your watch on the stand and connect its charging cord.
  4. Plug the charging cord into the correct USB port.

Note: Smartwatch and charging cords are not included.

Cable Organizer

Use the included Cable Organizer to keep charging cords tidy. Insert it into the Cable Clip Keyhole, slide down to lock, and lift/pull to remove.

Accessory Storage

The Earbud Dock, Cable Fittings, and Smart Watch Stand can be stored in the bottom Accessory Compartment when not in use.

Sensor

Search for Sensor

Lost Connection: If the station loses connection with the sensor, "NO" will appear on the LCD after 30 minutes. The [Sensor Reception icon] will disappear from the bottom right of the LCD. The station will attempt to re-establish connection for up to 3 minutes every hour.

Manual Reconnect: Hold the [+] button on the station to manually search for the sensor. Dashes will appear during the search, and the [Sensor Reception icon] will flash until the sensor connects.

Low Battery: The [Low Battery icon] will appear when the sensor's batteries need replacement.

Sensor Data

Sensor data, including Outdoor Temperature/Humidity, is displayed on the LCD and can also be viewed via projection.

Position Sensor

Mount the sensor outdoors in a shaded location by inserting a screw through the front hanging hole. For detailed instructions, watch the video at bit.ly/th_sensor_mounting.

Weather Station CA74962:

  • Power Requirements: 5.0VDC 3.5A Power Cord (HX20A-0503500-AU), CR2032 battery for backup.
  • Indoor Temperature Range: 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F).
  • Indoor Humidity Range: 10% to 99% RH.
  • LCD Brightness: 4 intensity levels + OFF (programmable Auto-Dim).
  • Projection Brightness: 2 intensity levels + OFF.
  • Snooze Duration: Programmable from 5 to 120 minutes.

  • Outdoor Temperature Range: -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F).

  • Transmission Range: Over 100 meters (330 feet) in open air (RF 433MHz).
  • Power Requirement: 2 "AA" LR6 batteries (included).
  • Battery Life: Over 24 months with reputable batteries.
  • Dimensions: 3.98cm L x 2.0cm W x 13.0cm H (1.57" L x 0.79" W x 5.11" H).

Note: While the product uses alkaline batteries, lithium batteries are recommended for consistently cold environments below -30°C (-22°F).

Button Cell Battery

Replacing the Coin Cell Battery:

  1. Use a coin to turn the battery cover counter-clockwise to remove it.
  2. Gently pull back the metal pin and remove the battery.
  3. Insert a fresh CR2032 battery with the [+] side up and snap it into place.
  4. Replace the cover and turn it clockwise with a coin to lock.

Battery Replacement Instructions:

  • Always purchase the correct battery size and grade.
  • Replace all batteries at once, avoiding mixing old/new or different types.
  • Clean battery contacts before installation.
  • Ensure correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Remove batteries during non-use periods to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Promptly remove used batteries.
  • Recycle batteries responsibly.
