Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart™ Refrigerators Quickstart Guide

This guide provides essential information for installing and operating your Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart™ refrigerator. For detailed instructions, please consult the User Guide or visit www.fisherpaykel.eu.

Important Safety Precautions

WARNING! Always follow basic safety precautions when using your refrigerator. Read all instructions before use.

Danger: This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Risk of child entrapment: remove doors and leave shelves in place when discarding old refrigerators.

Follow manufacturer's installation instructions for proper ventilation. Do not use mechanical devices to accelerate defrosting. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. Use stability brackets as supplied to prevent instability.

Electrical: This refrigerator may contain flammable refrigerant R600a. Ensure the appliance is properly installed and grounded. Never unplug by pulling the cord; grip the plug firmly. Do not use extension cords or double adapters. Replace frayed or damaged cords immediately. If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service center. Avoid rolling over or damaging the power cord when moving the appliance. Unplug before cleaning or replacing the lightbulb. Do not use electrical appliances inside food storage compartments unless recommended by the manufacturer.

Storing Food and Drinks: Do not store explosive substances like aerosol cans with flammable propellants. Never store volatile or flammable materials. Do not freeze carbonated drinks or liquids in glass containers. Do not consume food that is too cold.

Cleaning: Clean the exterior and interior regularly with a solution of liquid dishwashing detergent in warm water. Avoid other cleaning products as they can cause plastic components to crack.

Ice & Water Models Only: Use only with potable water supply. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection. Do not install on line pressure above 827 kPa or below 150 kPa. Do not use on hot water supply. Ensure tubing is at least 200 mm long. Avoid drilling near electrical wires or water pipes. Do not mount the filter where it can be struck by other items. Avoid direct sunlight exposure on the filter or tubing. Do not install in freezing temperatures. Do not screw the filter to the fridge. Avoid contamination of pipes during installation. Use only the supplied plastic tubing, not copper. Do not continuously dispense water for longer than 2 minutes.

1) Installation Instructions

1a Power

The appliance must be installed so the plug is accessible. Connect your refrigerator to its own power point. Refer to the serial plate for power requirements. Ensure the appliance is properly grounded (earthed). Wait 10 minutes before turning the refrigerator back on after it has been switched off.

1b Location

Avoid direct sunlight and heat-generating appliances. If an Ice & Water model, ensure a water supply is available.

1c Ventilation and Installation

Allow adequate ventilation: 20 mm on both sides, 30 mm at the rear, and 50 mm at the top. Ensure sufficient space to open doors. Refer to the User Guide for detailed cabinet dimensions.

1d Ice and Water Installation

Important! Fit a pressure reducing valve (PRV) before the filter. Water connection should be installed by an authorized plumber or service person. Use only the new tubing supplied. Ensure tubing ends are square and clean. Connect tubing to the PRV and water filter cartridge. Flush the water filter and check for leaks by running at least 10 L of water through it. Fit the filter vertically with adequate clearance for cartridge removal. Do not screw the filter to the refrigerator. Attach the filter using double-sided foam. Run tubing to the back of the fridge, ensuring enough slack for service. Connect tubing to the water (solenoid) valve. Check all connections for leaks. Coil tubing behind the fridge, being careful not to kink or squash it. Allow for a delay when dispensing water for the tank to fill. Flush the system by dispensing and discarding 3 L of water.

1e Stability

Ensure all four corners of the refrigerator base are firmly supported on the floor. Adjust the front feet to ensure the cabinet is stable and doors move towards the closed position on their own. The front levelling foot on the hinge side should bear the majority of the weight.

1f Levelling of Refrigerator Doors (French Door Models Only)

Use the front levelling feet to align the top edges of the two doors. Adjust the feet by turning them clockwise or anticlockwise as needed.

1g Before Placing Food

Remove all packaging, clean the inside, and run the refrigerator empty for 2-3 hours before adding food.

Energy Efficiency

Do not cover the appliance. Allow good clearances for air circulation. Cool hot foods before placing them inside. Do not overfill compartments. Minimize door openings. Select appropriate temperature settings. Check door seals for leaks.

(2) Using the Internal Control Panel

All models feature an internal display with LED indicators and capacitive touch buttons. Different versions of the control panel exist for Tasman, Designer, Elegance, and Ice & Water models.

2a Temperature Adjustment

The refrigerator and freezer compartments cool automatically upon initial power-on. To adjust temperatures, select the desired compartment (PC or FC) using the corresponding LED indicator and use the '+' or '-' buttons to set the temperature.

2b Alarm Mute

This function silences the door alarm for 20 minutes, allowing for extended door openings (e.g., during cleaning).

2c Special Functions

Fast Freeze (Designer and Ice & Water models only): Boosts freezing speed by lowering the freezer temperature for 12 hours. Activate by pressing the button; the FAST FREEZE light will illuminate.

Bottle Chill (Designer and Ice & Water models only): Chills beverages rapidly in the freezer. Set for 15 minutes. An alarm sounds when the time elapses. For non Ice & Water models, press the button in the fresh food compartment to silence. For Ice & Water models, the icon flashes on the external display, and the button on the external display silences the alarm.

2d Ice Maker

The ice maker is off by default. Press the ICE ON/OFF button to turn it on. To reset the ice tray, press and hold the '+' and '-' buttons together for 4 seconds. Discard ice cubes made in the first 24 hours. Turn the ice maker off if the water supply is off, the ice storage bin is removed, or when going on holiday.

(3) Using the External Display & Dispenser (Ice & Water Models)

Ice & Water models are equipped with an external display and water dispenser.

3a External Display

Features a dispenser lock button with an LED indicator and two LED icons: Bottle Chill indicator (flashes when beverage is ready) and Filter change indicator (signals when the water filter needs changing).

3b Water Dispenser

After installation, allow approximately one minute for the tank to fill before dispensing water. Dispense and discard 3 L of water to flush the tank. Minor drips may occur for a few days as trapped air is cleared.
