Introduction
DEWALT has conducted supplemental testing on the Pure110+ for use with threaded rods and rebars in diamond core drilled holes in concrete. Previously, performance data was published for holes drilled with a hammer-drill (rotary impact drills or rock drills with a carbide drill bit), as detailed in ICC-ES ESR-3298. This document presents additional test results and assessments for Pure110+ used in core drilled holes, in accordance with ICC-ES AC308 and ACI 355.4. The information is intended for determining adhesive anchor design strengths in concrete as per ACI 318 Chapter 17 and CSA A23.3 Annex D.
For further design information, including steel strength and concrete breakout strength, refer to the Pure110+ technical pages and ESR-3298 available at www.DEWALT.com.

Permissible installation conditions6 | Dry concrete | Anchor Category | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Water-saturated concrete | Anchor Category | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | |

Conversions: For SI: 1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 psi = 0.006894 MPa. For pound-inch units: 1 mm = 0.03937 inch, 1 MPa = 145.0 psi.
1Bond strength values are for normal-weight concrete with f'c = 2,500 psi (17.2 MPa). For f'c between 2,500 psi and 8,000 psi (17.2 MPa and 55.2 MPa), increase tabulated strength by (f'c / 2,500)0.10 [For SI: (f'c / 17.2)0.10].
2Modification factor for lightweight concrete as per ACI 318-14 17.2.6 or ACI 318-11 D.3.6.
3Max. short-term service temp. can be 162°F (72°C) with a 3% reduction in bond strength. Temperatures meet ACI 355.4 Section 8.5 and Table 8.1, Category B.
4Short-term temps are brief intervals (e.g., diurnal cycling); long-term temps are constant over significant periods.
5Characteristic bond strengths are for sustained loads (dead and live) and also applicable for short-term loading.
6Permissible conditions include dry and water-saturated concrete.
7Uncracked concrete values apply to Seismic Design Categories A and B only.
8For Seismic Design Categories C, D, E, or F, tabulated cracked concrete bond strengths do not require an additional reduction factor for seismic tension (αN,seis = 1.0).
Installation Specifications for Pure110+ Adhesive Anchors in Core Drilled Holes
The diamond core drill bit nominal size should match the existing carbide drill bit nominal size for the respective threaded rod and reinforcing bar diameter. Refer to DEWALT.com for additional installation details.
Supplemental Installation Instructions
These instructions supplement the existing published instructions for installations into core drilled holes. Steps 1 and 2 are replaced as follows:
- Drill Hole: Drill the hole into the base material using a core drill, sized according to the selected steel hardware element.
Precaution: Wear eye and skin protection. Avoid inhaling dust during drilling. - Clean Hole:
- Rinse/Flush: Starting from the bottom or back of the hole, rinse/flush with air/water until clear water emerges.
- Brush: Determine wire brush diameter (see Table VII) for the drilled hole. Attach to a rotary drill tool. Brush the hole with the selected wire brush a minimum of two times (2x). A brush extension is required for holes deeper than the listed brush length. The brush diameter must be checked periodically; it should resist insertion if too small and be replaced with the proper diameter if necessary.
- Repeat Rinsing: Repeat Step 2a by rinsing/flushing the hole with air/water.
- Blow Clean: Starting from the bottom or back of the hole, blow the hole clean a minimum of two times (2x) using compressed air (min. 90 psi). Ensure the hole is clean and free of water, debris, oil, or other foreign material.
- Repeat Brushing: Repeat Step 2b by brushing the hole with a wire brush a minimum of two times (2x).
- Repeat Blowing: Repeat Step 2d by blowing the hole clean a minimum of two times (2x). Ensure the hole is clean and free of dust, debris, or other foreign material.
