Introduction
This document details the DEWALT Pure220+™ Adhesive Anchoring System, specifically its performance with smooth dowel bars. It addresses requirements from ACI 318, 2024 IBC, and 2021 IBC, emphasizing the critical role of steel element specifications in adhesive anchor bond strength.
DEWALT has conducted laboratory tension testing to evaluate the Pure220+ adhesive anchors when used with smooth dowel bars, particularly for applications like slab-on-grade connections requiring shear load transfer.

Notes:
- Results based on tension tests with Grade 60 smooth dowel bars in dry uncracked normal weight concrete (ACI 355.4/ASTM E488).
- Test bars were epoxy coated.
- Ultimate load capacities require a minimum safety factor of 4.0 or greater for allowable working loads.
- Application is for short-term tension loading only.
- Hole drilling and cleaning instructions for the Pure220+ system must be followed.
- Drill bits must meet ANSI B212.15 requirements; ANSI compliance for hole drilling is required by ICC-ES ESR-5144.
Application and Installation
DEWALT Pure220+ adhesive anchors achieve allowable design strengths for short-term loading when installed correctly in dry concrete. Installation must adhere to all printed instructions specific to the application.
