Low Power Alarm
When the battery is low, the orange light flashes (?), and the buzzer beeps every 3 seconds until the camera powers off.
Forced Shutdown
If the camera becomes unresponsive, press both the Power/Shutter and Wi-Fi/Menu buttons simultaneously to force a shutdown.
Abnormal Conditions
- Card Error: (No card, card full, or low-speed card) The red light blinks quickly (?).
- Failed Wi-Fi Connection: The Wi-Fi/Menu light does not blink or always stays solid blue (?).
- Abnormal Booting: The camera fails to detect the lens module. The blue light blinks quickly (?) with the OLED display on, and the camera shuts off in 5 seconds.
3. OLED Display
The OLED display provides visual feedback on the camera's status. Key icons include:
- EIS: Indicates Electronic Image Stabilization is active.
- Recording with EIS on: Shows recording status with EIS enabled.
- Recording: Indicates the camera is actively recording.
- Fully charged: Battery icon indicates full charge.
- No card: Indicates no MicroSD card is inserted.

- 4K30FPS: Displays the current recording resolution and frame rate.
- Charging: Battery icon indicates the camera is charging.
- Low battery power: Battery icon indicates low battery.
The display also shows Menu settings (e.g., Resolution, FPS, Stabilization, Pre-record) and Wi-Fi status (SSID: RunCam6 XXXX, PASSWORD: 1234567890).
Camera Conditions Icons:
- Updating: Indicates firmware update in progress.
- Firmware update: Icon for firmware update.
- No Image: Indicates no image is being captured.
- Abnormal booting: Icon for booting errors.
- U-Disk mode: Indicates the camera is connected as a storage device.
- USB Camera (UVC mode): Indicates the camera is operating as a webcam.
4. Component Handling
Lens Protection Hood
To remove the lens protection hood, rotate it counterclockwise. To install it, rotate it clockwise.
Battery Holder
To access the battery, push the battery door outward and flip it open. Remove or install the battery as needed.
5. Advanced Features & Connectivity
Micro SD Card
A MicroSD U3 card is recommended, with support for capacities up to 512GB. Handle memory cards with care, avoiding liquids, dust, and debris. Power off the camera before inserting or removing the card. Consult manufacturer guidelines for acceptable temperature ranges. If the camera cannot record, format the MicroSD card using the RunCam App or a computer.
Computer Connection
Connect the camera to a computer via a Type-C cable. The camera will be recognized as a U-Disk (external storage). If the computer does not recognize the camera, ensure the MicroSD card is properly inserted. If files are inaccessible, try a different Type-C cable or USB port.
Firmware Update
For optimal performance, use the latest firmware. During a firmware update, the Wi-Fi/Menu light will alternate between quick-blinking blue (?) and the Power light will quick-blink red (?). The camera will shut off automatically upon completion. Firmware can be downloaded and updated via the RunCam App or from: https://www.runcam.com/download/Runcam6
GyroFlow Support
To use GyroFlow for video stabilization, ensure stabilization is turned off in the camera settings. Record video; the camera will generate Runcam6_0001.mp4 and Runcam6_0001.gcsv files. Download and install the GyroFlow software from https://gyroflow.xyz/. Import the video and .gcsv file into GyroFlow to stabilize and export the footage.
Remote Control
The RunCam 6 supports remote control via a Type-C control cable, which can be connected to a flight controller.
Type-C Control Cable Pinout:
- Power wire: Supports external power input of DC5-18V.
- Ground: Power ground wire / Remote control signal ground wire.
- Video: Can be soldered to the VI pad of a Flight Controller or Video In pad of a Video Transmitter to transmit video signals.
- PWM: Can be soldered to a spare M pad or LED pad of a Flight Controller for remote control.
- TX: Can be soldered to an R3 pad or other spare UART of a Flight Controller for remote control.
- RX: Can be soldered to a T3 pad or other spare UART of a Flight Controller for remote control.
Remote Control via UART (Recommended)
Example using Speedy Bee F7 Flight Controller:
- Solder the Type-C control cable wires to the Speedy Bee F7 V3 pads: Power wire to 5V, GND wire to GND, TX wire to R3, and RX wire to T3.
- Connect the flight controller to BetaFlight. Configure UART3 as the RunCam device.
- In BetaFlight's Modes tab, assign AUX channels (e.g., AUX 4, AUX 2, AUX 1, AUX 3) to camera functions like Wi-Fi button, Power button, and mode switching. The recommended range for these assignments is 1900-2100.
- Assign Channels to Controller: On your radio transmitter (e.g., Radiomaster TX12), access the MIXER interface. Assign specific channels (e.g., CH5, CH6, CH7) to switches (e.g., SE, SB, SC) for camera control.
- Test: With the flight controller and camera powered on, use the assigned switches: SE to start/stop recording, SB to turn Wi-Fi on/off, and SC to switch between video and OSD setting modes.
PWM Remote Control
Example using Speedy Bee F7 Flight Controller:
- Solder the Type-C control cable wires to the Speedy Bee F7 V3 pads: Power wire to 5V, GND wire to GND, and PWM wire to the M6 pad.
- Configure M6 at CLI mode: Connect to BetaFlight, enter the CLI interface, type 'resource' to view resources, and then input the following commands:
# resource motor 6 none
,# resource pinio 2 B05
,# set pinio_config = 129,129,1,1
,# set pinio_box = 0,41,255,255
,# save
. - Assign Channels to PWM: On your radio transmitter (e.g., Radiomaster TX12), access the MIXER interface. Assign a channel (e.g., CH7) to a switch (e.g., SF).
- Test: With the assigned switch (SF) in the bottom position, toggle it once to start/stop recording. Toggle it three times to switch to photo mode.
6. Software & Support
RunCam App Connection
- Turn on the camera and short press the Wi-Fi/Menu button to activate Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi/Menu light will blink blue slowly (?).
- On your mobile device, go to WLAN/Wi-Fi settings and connect to the device named 'Runcam6_XXXXXXX' using the password '1234567890'.
- Open the RunCam App, select 'RunCam 6' as the camera model. Preview and configuration options will be available upon successful connection.
