What does HD Video Monitor do?
The VTech 5” Smart Wi-Fi 1080p Video Monitor allows you to stay close to your baby when you are on the move or away. This monitor is Wi-Fi enabled, using your home wireless network to stream live video and audio through the 1080p baby unit and 5-inch colour screen parent unit. It allows you to maintain a constant connection to your baby. You can also monitor from your smartphone or mobile tablet using the MyVTech Baby Pro app, available from the [App Store] or [Google Play Store].

Protect your privacy and online security
VTech recommends the following best practices to help keep your wireless connection private and your devices protected:
- Secure your wireless connection: Ensure your router's wireless signal is encrypted using "WPA2-PSK with AES".
- Change default settings: Change your router's default network name (SSID) and passwords to unique, strong ones (at least 10 characters, complex, mixed case, numbers, and special characters).
- Keep devices updated: Download security patches and enable automatic updates when available.
- Disable UPnP: Disable Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) on your router to enhance firewall effectiveness.

Requirements for Mobile Access
- Network: Wi-Fi router (2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n)
- Internet connection: Minimum 1.5 Mbps upload bandwidth for 720p or 2.5 Mbps for 1080p per baby unit.
- Mobile App: MyVTech Baby Pro app
Install MyVTech Baby Pro mobile app
- Browse the [App Store] or [Google Play Store].
- Search for "myvtech baby pro".
- Download and install the app.
- Alternatively, scan the [QR Code] on the parent unit or documentation to download the app.
Minimum requirements: Android 6.0 or later; iOS 12 or later.
After installation, follow the app and parent unit instructions to set up and pair your baby unit. This involves creating a user account, activating it via email, and then pairing the camera within the app.
Connect, charge and power on the baby monitor
Connect the baby monitor
- Use only the supplied power adaptors.
- Ensure power adaptors are connected in a vertical or floor mount position and are out of reach of children.
- Do not connect to electronically controlled outlets.
Charge the parent unit battery
The parent unit has a built-in rechargeable battery. Charge it for 12 hours before first use. The battery icon [battery-level-indicator] shows the charge status.
- Empty battery: Alert displayed, battery icon empty, LED flashes. Charge immediately.
- Fully charged: Battery icon solid. Keep connected to AC power for continuous use.
Power on the baby unit
Slide the ON/OFF switch to ON. The baby unit status LED indicator will turn on briefly. The status LED is off by default but can be enabled via the menu settings.
Note: Camera lens and surface may get warm during normal operation.
Baby Unit Overview
Key components of the baby unit:

- 11 PAIR: Used for resetting the baby unit to factory defaults.

Parent Unit Overview
Key components of the parent unit:
- 1 LINK LED light: On when linked to baby unit; Flashes when link is lost.
- 2 LED light: On when connected to AC power and charging; Flashes when battery is low.
- 3 3-level sound indicator light: Shows detected sound level (Green: low, Green/Amber: moderate, Green/Amber/Red: high).
- 4 TALK / [TALK button]: Press and hold to talk to the baby unit. Press to exit sub-menu.
- 5 MENU | SELECT: Press to enter the main menu; Press to choose an item or save a setting.
- 6 Arrow keys: Navigate menus; Move zoomed image.
- 7 Microphone
- 8 Volume control: Press [volume-up] or [volume-down] to adjust volume.
- 9 Zoom: Press to zoom in/out. Press in sub-menu for help.
- 10 Power | LCD ON/OFF: Turns the unit on/off or turns the screen on/off.
- 11 Antenna

- 14 RESET: Force reboot the parent unit.

Basic Operation
After powering on, the parent unit streams video in Direct mode. For enhanced functionality and mobile access, set up your home Wi-Fi network.
Using the menu
Press MENU/SELECT to enter the main menu. Use arrow keys to navigate and SELECT to choose items. Press TALK to return to live video.
Talk to your baby
Press and hold the TALK key. Speak into the parent unit. Release to hear your baby.
Adjust speaker volume
Press the volume up [volume-up] or volume down [volume-down] keys.
Zoom
Press the Zoom key to zoom in or out. The [zoom-indicator] shows the magnification level.
Turn on/off Baby Unit's status LED
Navigate to Menu > Status LED to toggle the indicator.
Turn on/off the Parent Unit screen
Press the Power | LCD ON/OFF key to turn off the screen without powering down the unit. Press any key to turn it back on.
Resetting the Parent Unit
To restore default settings or reset Wi-Fi, insert a pin into the RESET hole on the back and press the button.
Test the sound level and position the baby monitor
Testing the sound level: Ensure the parent unit is more than 1 meter away from the baby unit to avoid feedback. Adjust volume if needed.
Positioning the baby monitor:
- Place the baby unit more than 1 meter away from your baby.
- Adjust the baby unit's angle to aim at your baby.
- Keep the baby unit out of the baby's reach. Never place it inside the cot or playpen.
- To avoid feedback noise, ensure units are over 1 meter apart or lower the parent unit volume.
Testing Wi-Fi signal strength: If using Wi-Fi, test signal strength in your desired location using the parent unit's [Wi-Fi signal strength indicator]. Adjust unit placement or router distance as needed.
Mount the baby unit (optional)
Follow these steps for wall mounting:
- Mark mounting holes on the wall. Drill holes (5.5mm drill bit).
- If drilling into a stud, proceed to step 3. If into other material, insert wall plugs.
- Align bracket with holes, tighten screws (leave 6.5mm exposed).
- Place baby unit on bracket, slide to lock. Alternatively, align bracket with screws and slide down to lock.
- Adjust viewing angles by rotating the knob on the wall mount bracket.
Note: Ensure reception strength and camera angle are checked before drilling. Use appropriate screws and wall plugs.
How the system works
The monitor operates in two modes:
- Direct Mode: Parent unit and baby unit connect directly out-of-the-box. Not recommended for long-term use after initial setup.
- Router Mode: Units connect via your home Wi-Fi network. This mode is recommended for stable connectivity, enhanced features, and mobile access. It enables remote monitoring via the MyVTech Baby Pro app.
For better security and stable connectivity, Router mode is required.
Note: When both the parent unit and app view simultaneously, video quality is optimized.
Auto software and firmware update
The parent unit will prompt for software and firmware updates. Select "Now" to reboot or switch off/on later. You can check for updates manually via Menu > Software Update.
Connect your HD video monitor with home Wi-Fi network
Connect to your secured home Wi-Fi network for updates. Go to Menu > Configure Wi-Fi. Ensure the baby unit is powered on during setup.
Night Light
Control the night light remotely via the parent unit or directly on the baby unit.
On the Parent Unit: Navigate to Menu > Night Light to turn on/off, change color, adjust brightness, or set a timer.
On the Baby Unit: Use the Night Light Control Key: Single tap to turn on/off; Tap and hold to adjust brightness.
Melodies and soothing sounds
Select to play melodies or soothing sounds. Set a timer for playback (15, 30, 60 minutes, or non-stop).
Alerts - Sound, motion and temperature
Configure sound and motion sensitivity, enable/disable alerts, and set temperature alert ranges.
Parent Unit Settings
Adjust screen brightness, low battery alert tone, no link alert tone, and dim mode.
Baby Unit Settings
Toggle Night Vision, Status LED, and adjust baby unit speaker volume.
General Settings
Connect to Wi-Fi, connect mobile phone, reset settings to factory default, and perform software updates.
Status Icons
Understand the icons displayed on the parent unit:
- Connection: Direct mode [direct-mode-icon], Router mode [router-mode-icon]. Red bars/icon indicate no connection.
- Night vision: [night-vision-icon]
- Motion detection: [motion-detection-icon]
- Sound detection: [sound-detection-icon]
- Melodies/Sounds playing: [melodies-playing-icon]
- Night light: [night-light-icon]
- Auto night light brightness: [auto-night-light-icon]

- Parent unit muted: [muted-icon]
- Temperature indicator: Blue (below 20°C), White (20-24°C), Orange (above 24°C).

Important Safety Instructions
General Precautions:
- Follow all product warnings and instructions.
- Adult setup is required.
- Do not install the baby unit at a height above [height-limit-indicator].
- This product is an aid, not a substitute for responsible adult supervision.
- Not intended for use as a medical monitor.
- Do not use near water.
- Use only the provided battery. Risk of explosion if wrong battery type is used. Avoid extreme temperatures and low air pressure. Dispose of batteries responsibly.
- Use only included adaptors. Incorrect polarity or voltage can damage the product.
- Power adaptor orientation: vertical or floor mount. Do not plug into ceiling, under-table, or cabinet outlets.
- Install socket-outlets near the equipment and ensure they are easily accessible.
- Unplug before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Do not modify adaptors.
- Do not place objects on power cords; avoid crimping or walking on them.
- Operate only from the indicated power source. Consult dealer if unsure.
- Do not overload wall outlets or use extension cords.
- Do not place on unstable surfaces.
- Ensure proper ventilation; do not block openings. Keep away from radiators or heat sources.
- Never insert objects into product slots; avoid touching dangerous voltage points or creating short circuits. Never spill liquid.
- Do not disassemble; contact authorized service for repairs to avoid electric shock.
- Test sound reception regularly.
- Periodically examine components for damage.
- Protect privacy by resetting the monitor periodically and powering it off when not in use.
- Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the product.
- Keep small parts out of reach of children.
- Not intended for use by persons with reduced capabilities unless supervised.
Cautions:
- Use and store between 0°C and 40°C.
- Mishandling batteries can cause hazards.
- Do not expose batteries to excessive heat or fire.
- Do not expose product to extreme cold, heat, or direct sunlight.
- Warning—Strangulation Hazard: Keep cords out of reach of children (more than 0.9m away). Do not remove warning tag.
- Never place the baby unit inside the baby’s cot or playpen. Never cover units with towels or blankets.
- Keep the unit away from electronic devices that may cause interference (routers, radios, phones, TVs, computers, appliances).

Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Adult supervision
- For adult use only.
- Do not place baby unit in cot or playpen.
- Keep away from children; this is not a toy.
