Wireless Remote Control Unit (Optional Parts)

Parts Name and Functions:

Operation Modes:

Slide Switch Functions: The slide switch is used to set operation modes and flap settings. Different models have different flap display settings.

Installing Batteries:

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Install two AAA alkaline batteries, observing polarity.
  3. Press the ACL button.

Battery Replacement: Batteries last about a year. Replace when the display fails or the unit is unresponsive. Use new, identical batteries. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for a long time.

Using the Wireless Remote Control Unit:

Address Settings

For multi-unit installations, the ADDRESS button allows separate control of up to six indoor units by matching address switches on the indoor unit and remote control. When batteries are replaced, the address setting reverts to "ALL".

How to check addresses: Pressing the ADDRESS button displays the current address. A buzzer sounds if the displayed address matches the signal receiver's address.

How to set the matching address:

  1. Hold the ADDRESS button for 4+ seconds; "ADR" lights up, and the current address blinks.
  2. Press the ADDRESS button to cycle through addresses (ALL → 1 → 6 → ALL). Match this to the indoor unit's address switch.
  3. Press the SET button to confirm. The address remains displayed for 5 seconds. A buzzer confirms a match.

Address Switch Positions: Diagrams illustrate address switch settings for X, T, K, and A, U, D type units, showing how to set knobs or switches to match the remote control's address display.

Emergency Operation

Use the Emergency operation button for makeshift operation when the remote control is unavailable (dead batteries, failure, lost, or misplaced).

Operation: The air conditioner starts in cooling mode if the room temperature is 75°F or above, and in heating mode if below 75°F.

Shutdown: Press the Emergency operation button again (or set the ON/OFF switch to OFF for K type).

NOTE: The TEST function is for initial trial runs only. To resume remote control operation, ensure the ON/OFF switch is set to ON.

Troubleshooting

Before requesting service, check the following:

Trouble Possible Cause Remedy
Air conditioner does not run when ON/OFF switch is set to ON. Shutdown mode? Power failure? Local power switch off? Blown fuses? ON timer active? Signal receiver set to "ALL OFF"? Remote control batteries depleted? Press ON/OFF again. Turn on local power switch. Contact dealer for fuses. Clear timer. Set receiver to "NORMAL". Replace batteries.
Indication lamps show cooling/heating mismatch or auto function unavailable. Incorrect operation mode or auto function setting. Change operation mode or consult dealer.
Display shows auto cooling/heating but unit is cooling-only model. Incorrect slide switch setting on remote control. Change slide switch setting (refer to page 9).
Indicator lamp blinking (Operation, Timer, Preparing for operation). Communication error (signal receiver/indoor unit, indoor/outdoor unit). Indoor/outdoor unit protection activated. Temperature sensor issue. Compressor protected. Trial run active. Check address settings, connections, and consult dealer. Set trial run switch to OFF if applicable.

If problems persist, shut down operation, turn off the local power switch, and contact your dealer with the model number and symptoms. Note any blinking indicator lamps.

Adjusting the Airflow Direction

4-way (X) Type: Equipped with auto flaps. Set angle or sweep mode using the remote control. CAUTION: Do not move flaps by hand. Air outlet flap can be removed for washing.

Ceiling Mounted Type (T): Vertical directions (automatic) via remote control. CAUTION: Do not move flaps by hand. Horizontal directions (manual) by adjusting vanes.

Wall Mounted Type (K): Vertical directions (automatic) using FLAP button. CAUTION: Do not move flaps by hand. Avoid directing flap downwards more than 30° in cool mode to prevent condensation. Horizontal directions (manual) by adjusting vanes.

Semi-concealed Type (1-way A): Not equipped with auto flap (manual adjusting only). Adjust flap manually. In cool mode, align indicator with blue mark on label. In heat mode, align with red mark to prevent condensation.

Concealed Duct Type (U, D): Requires locally obtained air outlet parts. Refer to their manuals.

Adjusting Airflow for Multiple Indoor Units

Airflow direction cannot be set for 1-way (A) and concealed duct (D, U) types using the remote control.

For multi-unit systems, use the UNIT button to select individual units and set airflow direction. Display shows unit number (Outdoor Unit-Indoor Unit). "No display" allows setting for all units simultaneously.

Special Remarks

"DRY" Operation: Unit cycles on/off to maintain set temperature. Indoor fan turns off when unit stops. Fan speed defaults to "LO." and cannot be adjusted. "DRY" operation is not available if outdoor temperature is 59°F or less.

Heating Operation: Heating efficiency decreases at low outdoor temperatures. Use an auxiliary heating appliance if needed.

Defrosting: Frost may form on the outdoor coil at low temperatures, reducing heating performance. A microcomputer-controlled defrosting system activates, temporarily stopping the indoor fan (or running at low speed). The "STANDBY" indicator appears during defrosting. Heating resumes after a few minutes.

Cold Draft Prevention: During initial heating, the indoor fan may run at very low speed or not at all until the indoor heat exchanger warms up. The "STANDBY" indicator remains displayed.

Power Failure: If power is cut off, the unit will automatically resume operation with the previous settings once power is restored.

Setting the Timer

The timer can be set during air conditioner operation.

Recommended Usage & Display:

Time Indicator: Use the ▼ and ▲ buttons to set the time in 0.5-hour intervals (0.5 to 72.0 hours).

Timer Indicator Cycles: The timer cycles through OFF timer, OFF cycle timer, and ON timer each time the TIMER SET button is pressed.

Setting the OFF timer: Press ON/OFF, then TIMER SET to select OFF timer mode. Use ▼/▲ to set time (e.g., 3.5 hours). Press SET to confirm.

Setting the OFF cycle timer: Press ON/OFF, then TIMER SET twice for OFF cycle timer mode. Set time using ▼/▲. Press SET to confirm.

Setting the ON timer: Press ON/OFF, then TIMER SET to select ON timer mode. Set time (e.g., 10.5 hours) using ▼/▲. Press SET to confirm. The unit enters a paused state.

Canceling Timer Operation: Press the CL button to cancel the timer setting.
