Installation Location
- It is recommended that this air conditioner be installed properly by qualified installation technicians, following the Installation Instructions provided with the unit.
- Before installation, verify that the voltage of the electric supply in your home or office matches the voltage shown on the unit's nameplate.
- Do not install this air conditioner where there are fumes or flammable gases, or in extremely humid spaces like a greenhouse.
- Do not install the air conditioner where excessively high heat-generating objects are placed.
- Avoid: To protect the air conditioner from heavy corrosion, avoid installing the outdoor unit where salty sea water can splash directly onto it or in sulphurous air near a spa.
Electrical Requirements
- All wiring must conform to local electrical codes. Consult your dealer or a qualified electrician for details.
- Each unit must be properly grounded with a ground (or earth) wire or through the supply wiring.
- Wiring must be done by a qualified electrician.
To warm up the system, the power mains must be turned on at least five (5) hours before operation. Leave the power mains ON unless you will not be using this appliance for an extended period.
Safety Instructions
- Read this Instruction Manual carefully before using this air conditioner. If you have any difficulties or problems, consult your dealer.
- This air conditioner is designed to provide comfortable room conditions. Use it only for its intended purpose as described in this manual.
- Never touch the unit with wet hands.
- Never use or store gasoline or other flammable vapor or liquid near the air conditioner – this is very dangerous.
- This air conditioner has no ventilator for intaking fresh air from outdoors. You must open doors or windows frequently when using gas or oil heating appliances in the same room, as these consume a lot of oxygen from the air. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffocation in extreme cases.
- Do not turn the air conditioner on and off using the power mains switch. Use the ON/OFF operation button.
- Do not insert anything into the air outlet of the outdoor unit, as this is dangerous because the fan is rotating at high speed.
- Do not let children play with the air conditioner.
- Do not cool or heat the room excessively if babies or invalids are present.
Wireless Remote Control Unit (Optional parts)
Parts Name and Functions
The illustration shows the wireless remote control unit with the cover lowered and removed.
Key Components:
- A: ON/OFF operation button: Turns the air conditioner on and off.
- B: Transmitter: Transmits setting changes to the receiver in the air conditioner. A mark appears on the display when buttons are pressed.
- C: MODE button: Selects one of five operating modes:
- (AUTO): Automatically sets cooling or heating (for single heat pump type, 62-80°F).
- (HEAT): Normal heating operation (for heat pump type, 60-78°F).
- (DRY): Dehumidifying without changing room temperature (64-86°F).
- (COOL): Normal cooling operation (64-86°F).
- (FAN): Fan only operation (no heating or cooling).
- D: Temperature setting buttons: Use ▼ to decrease and ▲ to increase the temperature setting. Temperature cannot be set during FAN mode.
- E: FAN SPEED selector button: Selects fan speed:
- (AUTO): Automatic fan speed selection.
- (HI.): High fan speed.
- (MED.): Medium fan speed.
- (LO.): Low fan speed.
- F: FILTER button: Used to turn off the filter lamp if a signal receiver is employed. Press after cleaning the filter. If both wired and wireless units are used, press on either unit to clear the filter sign.
- G: ADDRESS button: Used to set addresses for controlling multiple indoor units separately. Matching address switches on the indoor unit and remote control unit is required. Address setting returns to "ALL" when batteries are replaced.
- H: A/C SENSOR button: When pressed, the display is cleared, and the room temperature is detected by the sensor built into the indoor unit. Use this if the remote control is near a heat source or direct sunlight.
- I: FLAP button: Sets airflow direction to a specific angle or sweep. The number of settings varies by mode (3 for COOL/DRY, 5 for HEAT/FAN). Do not move the flap with your hands. Condensation may form if flaps are set downwards in cool/dry modes. This function is available for models X, A, T, and K.
- J: TIMER SET button: Switches between timer settings (OFF Timer, OFF Cycle Timer, ON Timer).
- K: Time setting buttons: ▲ increases time (0.5-hour increments, up to 72 hours), ▼ decreases time (0.5-hour increments, down to 0.5 hours).
- L: SET button: Sets the selected timer.
- M: CL button: Clears the timer setting.
- N: VENTILATION button: Controls an externally connected ventilation fan.
- O: Remote control sensor: Receives infrared signals from the remote control unit.
- P: ACL button (ALL CLEAR): Resets the remote control unit to pre-operation status, used after battery replacement or slide switch changes.
- Q: Slide switch: Sets the operation mode of indoor units and flaps.
Receiver
Signal receivers are mounted on indoor units, except for separately installed units.
Receiver Components:
- A: Receiver: Picks up infrared signals from the remote control unit.
- Indication lamps:
- B: Operation lamp: Lights when the appliance is turned on.
- C: Timer lamp: Lights when the system is controlled by the timer.
- D: Standby lamp: Lights during heating operations, thermostat activation, or defrosting. Blinks when trouble occurs.
- E: Emergency operation button: Used for makeshift operation if the remote control unit fails, is lost, or has no battery power.
- F: ADDRESS switch: Prevents sending signals to the wrong indoor unit in multi-unit installations.
- G: SWING button: Automatically sweeps airflow up and down.
- H: FILTER lamp: Lights when it is time to clean the filter.
Notes on Indicator Lamps:
- If two beeps are heard, and the operation, timer, and standby lamps blink alternately (on heat pump models), it indicates a cooling/heating mode mismatch.
- If local operation is disabled due to centralized control, pressing operation buttons may result in five beeps, and the attempted change will not be accepted.
Operation
Follow these steps for basic operation:
- STEP 1 (Start): Press the ON/OFF operation button.
- STEP 2 (Set Mode): Press the MODE button to select AUTO, HEAT, DRY, COOL, or FAN.
- STEP 3 (Set Fan Speed): Press the FAN SPEED selector button to choose AUTO, HI., MED., or LO. (AUTO selects speed automatically).
- STEP 4 (Set Temperature): Use the ▼ or ▲ buttons to adjust the temperature.
- STEP 5 (Set Airflow Direction): For multiple units, use the UNIT button to select a unit, then use the FLAP button to set the angle or sweep.
- STEP 6 (Stop): Press the ON/OFF operation button again.
Automatic Heating and Cooling: The air conditioner automatically adjusts heating and cooling based on the set temperature and room temperature. All indoor units in the same system can be controlled together.
Simultaneous Operation of Multiple Units (Group Control):
- Suitable for conditioning large rooms with multiple units.
- One remote control can manage up to eight indoor units.
- All units share the same settings except for airflow direction.
- Indoor unit temperature sensors are used.

Using the Wireless Remote Control Unit
Slide Switch
This switch sets the indoor unit's operation mode and flap settings. Operation display and flap settings vary by indoor unit model. Use a pointed implement to change the switch position and press the ACL button afterward. Refer to the indoor unit's operating instructions for flap function details.

Before use, ensure the slide switch is set correctly. Consult your dealer for details on setting the slide switch.
How to Install Batteries
- Slide the cover in the indicated direction and remove it.
- Install two AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity as marked in the compartment.
- Use a pointed implement to press the ACL button.
Battery Notes: Batteries last about a year. Replace them when the display fails or the unit is unresponsive. Always use new, identical batteries. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for a prolonged period. Dispose of used batteries properly.
How to Use the Wireless Remote Control Unit
- Point the transmitter at the signal receiver. A beep confirms signal reception (two beeps for startup).
- Signal reception is effective up to approximately 26 ft (distance may vary).
- Ensure no objects block the path between the transmitter and receiver.
- Avoid placing the remote control near direct sunlight, air outlets, or heating appliances.
- Do not drop, throw, or wash the remote control unit.
- Signal reception may be affected by fluorescent lights using electronic instantaneous lighting systems or inverter systems. Contact your dealer for details.
Mounting the Remote Control Unit on a Wall
- Before wall mounting, position the unit and press the ON/OFF button to check signal reception.
- To remove, pull the unit away from its fitting.

Address Settings
For multi-unit installations in the same room, this feature allows separate control of up to six indoor units by matching address switches on the indoor unit and remote control. The signal receiver has an address switch for reception, and the remote control has one for transmission.
How to Check Addresses
Pressing the ADDRESS button displays the current address. A buzzer sounds if it matches the signal receiver's address. If "ALL" is displayed, operations are possible regardless of the receiver's address.
How to Set the Matching Address
- Hold the ADDRESS button for 4+ seconds; "ADR" lights up, and the current address blinks.
- Press the ADDRESS button repeatedly to cycle through addresses: ALL → 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → ALL. Select the address matching the indoor unit's switch.
- Press the SET button to confirm; the address stops blinking and remains lit for 5 seconds. A buzzer confirms a match.
Note: Address setting resets to "ALL" when batteries are replaced.

Emergency Operation
Use the Emergency operation button for makeshift operation in the following situations:
- Wireless remote control unit batteries are depleted.
- Wireless remote control unit has failed.
- Wireless remote control unit is lost or misplaced.
X type
Initiate operation using the Emergency operation button on the indoor unit.
- Operation: Press the Emergency operation button. The unit starts cooling if room temperature is 75°F or above; it starts heating if below 75°F.
- Shutdown: Press the Emergency operation button again.
T type
Initiate operation using the Emergency operation button on the signal receiver (indoor unit).
- Operation: Press the Emergency operation button. The unit starts cooling if room temperature is 75°F or above; it starts heating if below 75°F.
- Shutdown: Press the Emergency operation button again.
K type
Initiate operation using the Emergency operation button on the indoor unit.
- Operation: Set the ON/OFF switch to "OFF" first, then to "ON". If it's a heat pump model, it starts cooling at 75°F or above, and heating below 75°F.
- Shutdown: Set the ON/OFF operation switch to "OFF".
Note: The "TEST" function is for initial trial runs only. To resume remote control operation, ensure the ON/OFF switch is set to ON.
A, U, D type
Initiate operation using the Emergency operation button in the signal receiver.
- Operation: Press the Emergency operation button. The unit starts cooling if room temperature is 75°F or above; it starts heating if below 75°F.
- Air Direction: Pressing the SWING button automatically switches air direction up/down or vice versa.
- Shutdown: Press the Emergency operation button again.
Troubleshooting
Check these points before requesting service:

If the trouble persists, shut down operation, turn off the local power switch, and contact your dealer with the model number and symptoms. Do not attempt self-repairs. Provide details if any indicator lamps are blinking.
Adjusting the Airflow Direction
4-way (X) Type
Equipped with auto flaps. Set airflow direction to a specific angle or sweep mode using the remote control. Do not move the flap with your hands.
- The air outlet flap can be removed and washed. Ensure the unit is stopped before removal. After washing and drying, remount with the arrow facing outward.
Ceiling Mounted Type (T)
A. Vertical Directions (Automatic)
Uses an auto flap. Set direction to a specific angle or sweep mode via remote control. Do not move the flap with your hands.
B. Horizontal Directions (Manual)
Adjust horizontal airflow by manually moving the vertical vanes left or right.
Wall Mounted Type (K)
A. Vertical Directions (Automatic)
Turn on the remote control and press the FLAP button to move the flap up/down. Press again to stop at the desired position. In cool mode, avoid directing the flap down more than 30° to prevent condensation drip. Zone "A" is recommended for cooling.
Do not move the flap with your hands.
B. Horizontal Directions (Manual)
Adjust horizontal airflow by manually moving the vertical vanes left or right.

Semi-concealed Type (1-way Type A)
Not equipped with an auto flap; manual adjustment only.

Hold the flap to move it up/down to adjust airflow. The engraved line on the disc indicates direction. In cool mode, align the indicator with the blue mark on the label to prevent condensation. In heat mode, align with the red mark.
Concealed Duct Type (U, D)
Not equipped with air outlet parts; these must be obtained locally. Refer to the manual for locally adopted parts.
Adjusting the Airflow Direction for Multiple Indoor Units Using a Single Remote Control Unit
Airflow direction cannot be set for 1-way (A) and concealed duct (D, U) types using the remote control.
For multi-unit setups, airflow direction can be set for each unit by selecting it:
- Press the UNIT button to display the indoor unit number under group control. Set airflow for the displayed unit.
- The indicator changes with each UNIT press.
- When no display is shown, all units can be set simultaneously.
- Unit numbers are displayed as Outdoor Unit Number-Indoor Unit Number.

Special Remarks
"DRY" Operation
- The unit cycles on/off automatically once the set room temperature is reached.
- The indoor fan turns off when the unit stops to prevent humidity buildup.
- Fan speed is automatically set to "LO." and cannot be adjusted.
- "DRY" operation is not possible if the outdoor temperature is 59°F or less.
Heating Operation
- Heating Performance: As this unit uses a heat pump system (utilizing outside air heat), heating efficiency decreases at very low outdoor temperatures. If insufficient heat is obtained, use another heating appliance.
- Defrosting: At low outdoor temperatures, frost may form on the outdoor heat exchanger, reducing heating performance. A microcomputer-controlled defrosting system activates. During defrosting, the indoor fan stops (or runs at low speed), and the "STANDBY" indicator appears until defrosting is complete. Heating operation resumes after a few minutes.
- For several minutes after heating starts, the indoor fan may not run (or run at low speed) until the indoor heat exchanger warms up to prevent cold drafts. The " " (standby) indicator remains displayed during this period.
- The " " (standby) indicator also remains displayed during defrosting or when the compressor is turned off by the thermostat in heating mode.
- Upon defrost completion and compressor restart, the " " (standby) indicator turns off as heating operation resumes.
Power Failure
If power is temporarily cut off, the unit will automatically resume operation with the previous settings once power is restored.
Setting the Timer
Set the timer during air conditioner operation.
Recommended Usage
- To stop the air conditioner after a preset time elapses: OFF timer
- To always stop the air conditioner after a preset time elapses: OFF cycle timer
- To start the air conditioner after a preset time elapses: ON timer
Time Indicator of Timer
Pressing ▲ increases time (0.5-hour increments, up to 72 hours). Pressing ▼ decreases time (0.5-hour increments, down to 0.5 hours).
Timer Indicator
The timer cycles through options each time the TIMER SET button is pressed:
- No display: Normal operation.
- OFF timer: Unit turns off automatically after a preset time.
- OFF cycle timer: Unit always stops after a preset time.
- ON timer: Unit starts automatically after a preset time.

Note: When two remote controls are used, either the main or sub-remote can operate timers.
How to Set the OFF Timer
Example: Stopping the air conditioner after 3.5 hours.
- Press ON/OFF button to start.
- Press TIMER SET to select the OFF timer mode.
- Use ▲ to set 3.5 hours.
- Press SET to confirm. The SETTING and time indications will flash.
How to Set the OFF Cycle Timer
Example: Always stopping the air conditioner after 3.5 hours.
- Press ON/OFF button to start.
- Press TIMER SET twice for OFF cycle timer mode.
- Use ▲ or ▼ to set the time.
- Press SET to confirm.
Note: When the OFF cycle timer is set, the unit will stop after the specified time.
How to Set the ON Timer
Example: Starting the air conditioner 10.5 hours after the ON time setting.
- Press ON/OFF button to start.
- Press TIMER SET to select the ON timer mode.
- Use ▲ to set 10.5 hours.
- Press SET to confirm. The SETTING and time indications will flash.
Note: When the ON timer is set, the unit enters a paused state.
Canceling Timer Operation
Press the CL button to cancel timer operation. The time setting is cleared, and the timer indicator disappears.
