Follow these steps for initial setup:
- Open a web browser and go to: https://install.instar.com to access the Camera Installation Guide.
- Select your language and the camera model (IN-8815 4K).
- Choose your network connection type:
- a) Connection via LAN cable or PoE (recommended)
- b) Connection directly via WiFi using WPS
- Follow each step of the setup wizard.
- On the camera's login page, use the default credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: instar
- The Camera Setup Wizard will guide you through the final setup process. You can then configure your camera using the Web User Interface (WebUI).
6. Smartphone Apps
INSTAR offers free apps for Android, iOS (iPhone/iPad), Blackberry, Amazon Kindle, Windows Phone, and Windows 10/11 (Metro). Search for “InstarVision” in your device's app store to install.
The Difference between the App and the Web User Interface (WebUI):
App: The InstarVision app provides easy access to your camera and live stream from anywhere. It allows for daily use functions like alarm activation, playback of recordings, night vision control, camera control, saving positions, and two-way audio. The app is not for initial camera setup.
Web User Interface (WebUI): Accessible via any modern HTML5 web browser. Use the INSTAR Camera Tool to find the camera's IP address and open it in your browser. The WebUI allows full configuration, including setting alarm areas, linking motion detection and PIR to prevent false alarms, and managing settings that can then be controlled via the InstarVision app.
7. Remote Access
The camera supports two methods for remote access to the live video:
7.1. P2P Protocol
The P2P protocol allows quick and easy connection via the InstarVision app, working with any internet connection (local, public IPv4/6, mobile data) without port forwarding.
- Install the InstarVision app from your device's app store.
- Open the app, tap the “+” symbol, choose “Add Camera” -> “New P2P Camera”.
- Alternatively, open the camera's WebUI, navigate to Network -> Remote access, and scan the QR code to add the camera.
7.2. DDNS Service - HTTP(S) Protocol
The DDNS service allows direct access to your camera via your internet router using any modern web browser, the InstarVision app, or third-party software.
- In the WebUI, go to Network -> IP configuration. Assign unique HTTP (e.g., 8081) and HTTPS (e.g., 9081) ports for each camera.
- Configure port forwarding rules in your router for each assigned port.
- In the app, tap the “+” symbol and choose “Add Camera” -> “New IP Camera”.
- Alternatively, open the camera's WebUI, navigate to Network -> Remote access, and scan the QR Code to add the camera. Note: DDNS service may not work from your local network; test via an external internet connection.
Port forwarding requires a public IPv4 address. For detailed information on port forwarding and DDNS, please refer to: https://remote.instar.com
8. Camera Reset
To reset the camera to factory settings, press and hold the reset button on the back for 20 seconds. A confirmation sound will be heard upon release. The camera will restart (up to 60 seconds), and all data will be reset. Reconnect the camera to your network using a network cable or WPS. For reinstallation information, visit: https://install.instar.com. After reconnecting, use the INSTAR Camera Tool to find the IP address and open the WebUI for setup.
9. Lens Adjustment
The IN-8815 4K has a standard lens with a depth of field set to approximately 5-10m. If your area of interest is out of focus, adjust the lens accordingly.
Figure 1 & 2: Open the WebUI and view the live video. Use the lens focal tool (included) to turn the lens until the desired object is in focus. Turning clockwise focuses on distant objects; counter-clockwise focuses on closer objects.
