Visual Description: Diagram shows an axle with a wheel labeled "Old tire". Components like "Cotter pin" and "Axle" are indicated.
STEP 2:
Ensure that you place washers in the same location as they were on the old tire. Slide the Marathon tire onto the axle. Secure the tire with the cotter pin or axle cap.
Visual Description: Diagram shows the "Marathon tire" being fitted onto the "Axle".
Replace Tire for Alternate Equipment
(Non-Standard Hand Trucks, Casters, Compressors, Generators, etc.)
STEP 1:
Remove the old tire. Measure the hub length to calculate the number of spacers that you need.
Visual Description: Diagrams illustrate removing an old tire and measuring the hub length.
STEP 2:
If the axle is larger than 5/8 inch, check the 3/4 inch or 1/2 inch replacement bushings. If the axle fits these bushings, remove the existing bearings. This can be done using a screwdriver inserted through the top bearing hole to access the backside of the bottom bearing, then tapping the bearing out with a hammer. Flip the tire and remove the other bearing similarly. Place a piece of wood over the top of the 3/4 inch bushing and use a hammer to drive it into the hub. Repeat this process on the opposite side. If your axle does not fit any of the provided bushings, remove the bearing from your original tire and install it into the new tire by following the steps above.
Visual Description: Diagrams show removing 5/8" bearings, using a screwdriver and hammer to remove bearings, and installing 3/4" or 1/2" bushings. A note advises rotating the screwdriver in different quadrants to prevent binding when installing bushings.
