Device Overview and Controls

The Caliber HPG 335DAB features several controls for operation:

01 ON/OFF/MODE:
Press to change modes between DAB and FM. Short press to turn on the radio. Long press to return to standby mode.
02 PRESET/SCAN:
Short press to select a preset station. Long press to initiate an auto scan.
04 INFO/MENU/BACK:
  • INFO: Press to retrieve information from radio stations.
  • MENU (DAB Mode): Long press to access Station list, Full scan, Preset Recall, Preset Store, Manual Tune, DRC, Prune, and System settings.
  • MENU (FM Mode): Long press to access Audio Setting, Preset Recall, Preset Store, Scan Setting, and System settings.
  • BACK: Go backward on operation.
05 TUNE DOWN:
Long press for manual scan downwards. Short press for manual fine tune downwards.
06 TUNE UP:
Press for manual scan upwards. Short press for manual fine tune upwards.
07 ROTARY VOLUME/ENTER:
Rotate to adjust volume up or down. Press to Enter or Select an option.
08 PHONES:
Connect a 3.5mm audio cable or earphone for listening. The main speaker will be disabled when connected.
09 USB CHARGING PORT:
Use this port to charge the radio.

Connecting Your Radio

Your radio is supplied with a Lithium battery. Please avoid operating the unit under direct sunlight or in hot, humid, or dusty places, and follow the safety instructions in this manual.

Operating Your Radio – DAB

  1. Carefully extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press the ON/OFF/MODE button to switch on the radio.
  3. Press MODE to select DAB mode.
  4. On first use, a FULL SCAN will be carried out. If the radio has been powered off and turned back on, the last used station will be selected.
  5. When scanning is completed, the display will indicate the number of found stations.
  6. You may PRESET your favorite stations by pressing the PRESET/SCAN button and using the TUNE UP/DOWN buttons to save the preset to a desired position (1 to 30), then press ENTER to save.
  7. A low signal indicator means a weak station signal or a bad reception location.
  8. If no stations are found after scanning, the display will show "NO STATIONS FOUND". It is necessary to relocate the radio to a position with better reception. If no DAB signal is received for 15 minutes, the unit will return to standby mode automatically.

Selecting a Station – DAB

  1. The display shows the name of the selected station.
  2. Press the TUNING - or TUNING + buttons to select the station.
  3. Press ENTER to select.

Preset Store

The radio has a PRESET RECALL function for DAB & FM that allows your radio stations to be saved into 30 presets (30 for DAB & 30 for FM).

  1. Long press INFO/MENU/BACK, select PRESET STORE, press ENTER, then PRESET 1-30.
  2. Rotate the VOLUME/ENTER knob to select the location to be saved.
  3. Press ENTER to save.

Preset Recall

The radio has a PRESET CALL function for DAB & FM that allows you to recall saved radio stations to play (30 for DAB & 30 for FM).

  1. Long press INFO/MENU/BACK, select PRESET RECALL, press ENTER, then PRESET 1-30.
  2. Rotate the VOLUME/ENTER knob to select saved stations.
  3. Press ENTER to confirm.

Your radio will display different information which can be selected by pressing the INFO button:

Prune Invalid Stations

If you move to a different part of the country, some stations may no longer be available. DAB services may also stop broadcasting or change location/frequency. Stations that cannot be found or have not been received for a long time are shown with a question mark. The Prune Stations function will delete these marked DAB stations from your station list. From the DAB Menu list, select Prune invalid stations to remove invalid station names.

DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Settings

Dynamic Range Control (DRC) makes quieter sounds easier to hear in noisy environments by reducing the dynamic range of the audio signal. From the DAB menu list, select DRC to enter the DRC adjustment mode. The current DRC setting will be highlighted. Select the required DRC setting; the display will return to the previous screen.

Note: Not all DAB broadcasts use the DRC function. If the broadcast does not provide DRC information, the DRC setting in the radio will have no effect.

Operating Your Radio – FM

  1. Carefully extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press the power button to turn on the radio.
  3. Press MODE to select FM mode.
  4. Long press TUNE DOWN / TUNE UP buttons to auto tune downwards / upwards.
  5. Short press TUNE DOWN / TUNE UP buttons to fine tune the station downwards / upwards.

Display Modes – FM

Your radio will display the following information by pressing the INFO/MENU button:

Note: These FM display mode information are only available when the radio is able to receive RDS information from the broadcaster.

Preset Store (FM)

The radio has PRESET RECALL function for DAB & FM that allows your radio station to be saved into 30 presets (30 for DAB & 30 for FM).

  1. Long press INFO/MENU/BACK, select PRESET STORE, press ENTER, then PRESET 1-30.
  2. Rotate the VOLUME/ENTER knob to select the location to be saved.
  3. Press ENTER to save.

The radio has a PRESET CALL function for DAB & FM that allows you to recall saved radio stations to play (30 for DAB & 30 for FM).

  1. Long press INFO/MENU/BACK, select PRESET RECALL, press ENTER, then PRESET 1-30.
  2. Rotate the VOLUME/ENTER knob to select saved stations.
  3. Press ENTER to confirm.

Language Set

The radio has a Multilanguage user interface.

  1. Long press MENU and rotate ENTER knob, navigate to System Settings > Language. Select from: English, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Dutch.
  2. Press Enter to select.

Direct Save DAB Station (Auto Scan)

In FM/DAB mode, long press the PRESET/SCAN button for 2 seconds. The received stations are automatically stored to preset numbers.

Snooze Alarm

When an alarm sounds, press VOLUME/ENTER to activate the snooze time (9 minutes). The display shows the snooze time counting down. You can press ON/OFF/MODE to turn off the alarm completely.

Set Sleep Timer

  1. In DAB/FM mode, hold the INFO/MENU/BACK button, then rotate VOLUME/ENTER to select System, then select SLEEP.
  2. Rotate VOLUME/ENTER to select the Sleep timer period circle: 90 > 60 > 30 > 45 > 15 > 5 > OFF.

Remark: In DAB/FM mode, you can long press the VOLUME/ENTER knob button to activate the SLEEP TIMER.

System Reset

If you encounter problems with your radio, you may reset the radio to Factory Reset as follows:

  1. Long press MENU and rotate ENTER knob, navigate to System Settings > Factory Reset.
  2. Rotate ENTER to select YES / NO.
  3. Press ENTER to select.

Important: System reset is only available when a power adaptor is connected.
