Yaesu Rotator Clunking Noise
There have been several returns of Yaesu rotators that the customers report "Loose parts inside the rotator." The metal "clank" or "clunk" noise that is heard is the end of rotation lever hitting the stop and this is a normal sound.
Below are descriptions of the lever that moves freely within the rotator. Please do not return the rotators for this sound.
Visual Description of Rotator Mechanism
Description of Image 1: A close-up view of the internal mechanism of a Yaesu rotator. A hand is visible, holding a part of the rotator assembly. Prominent gears and a chain-like component are visible. A white plastic gear is connected to a metal lever.
Description of Image 2: Another close-up of the Yaesu rotator's internal mechanism, focusing on the gears and the lever. The lever appears to be at the end of its travel, near a stop point. The number "9061" is visible on a component.
Description of Image 3: A similar close-up view of the rotator mechanism, showing the lever clearly positioned near the end of its movement. The gear train and the overall assembly are illustrated.
Description of Image 4: The final close-up image of the Yaesu rotator's internal workings, depicting the lever mechanism and associated gears, illustrating how the lever interacts with the end-stop.
Photos are from a Yaesu G-450 rotator. This sound has also been detected on other Yaesu rotator models as well.
