- Serious injury or death may occur from inhaling compressed air. The air stream may contain carbon monoxide, toxic vapors or solid particles. Never inhale compressed air directly from the pump or air tool.
- Never point the air stream or tool at any point of your body, other people or animals. Debris and dust ejected at high speed can cause an injury.
Specific Safety
[Danger] DO NOT open the reel case. Do not attempt to disassemble the main spring assembly. A spring that is under high tension can cause serious personal injury or death when released. Have the tool repaired by a certified technician.
[Warning] DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
- Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended purpose.
- Do not use the tool if any parts are damaged, broken or misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
- A qualified technician is required to replace or repair the reel's internal mechanism.
- Do not abruptly jerk on the hose, as this can damage the hose or locking mechanism.
- Use care when handling the retractable winder during normal operation.
- Discharge the air from the hose and tool before rewinding the hose onto the reel.
Air Tool Precautions
- Use only clean and dry compressed air as a power source. Contaminated or moist air will gradually damage the tool.
- Discontinue tool use if it does not work properly or air is leaking. Tag or mark the tool as 'defective' or 'out of service' until repaired.
- Check the manufacturer's maximum pressure rating for air tools and accessories. Compressor outlet pressure must be regulated to never exceed the maximum pressure rating of the tool (see Specifications). Exceeding the maximum PSI rating can create a bursting hazard, causing injury and property damage.
- The tool does not regulate the pressure level. The power output is in direct proportion to the air pressure available. An external air pressure regulator is required to safely use this tool.
- Attach all accessories properly to the tool before connecting the air supply. A loose accessory may detach or break during operation.
- Never use oxygen, combustible gas or any other bottled gas as a power source. Any power source other than an air compressor could cause an explosion and serious personal injury.
- Turn OFF the valve and discharge any remaining air pressure after each use or before adjusting the tool.
- Do not leave the air tool unattended with its compressed air supply on. Turn off the compressed air supply and bleed the air tool of any remaining compressed air before leaving the air tool unattended.
- Always turn off the air compressor and drain tank pressure completely before attempting maintenance or attaching air tools. Release pressure slowly from the system.

Assembly & Installation
[Caution] Mount the unit to a solid surface using the appropriate hardware (included). Make sure the mounting surface is thick enough to support both the retractable air hose reel and the force required to pull the hose from the reel.
- Choose a mounting location near the air source.
- The mounting location must be solid and capable of holding the weight of the hose reel.
- The location should be low enough to easily pull the hose out for use.
- Remove the bracket from reel.
- Pull the quick release pin out and turn it 90 degrees to release the bracket.
- Push the bracket down to slide it off the reel.
- Place the mounting bracket against the wall and mark the wall using the holes as a template.
- Check if the bracket requires a specific orientation before marking the wall.
- Install the bracket.
- Drill holes in the wall at each marked location. Use a 3/8 in drill bit.
- Insert the plastic anchors into the holes if mounting on drywall or cement.
- Place the bracket on the wall and align the holes. Make sure the wider opening is facing upward.
- Drive a screw into each bracket corner until it is solidly held against the wall. Be careful not to use a drill or driver with too much torque, as it could damage the bracket.
- Tug the bracket to make sure it is not loose. Tighten the appropriate screws if there is still some movement.
- Insert the reel brace tongue into the bracket opening. Pull the quick release pin and hold until the brace is seated. Release the pin and turn it 90 degrees to lock it in place.
- Install the handle.
- Position and align the handle over the three holes in the right side of the reel.
- Insert a bolt through the reel's side and handle base from the inside. Secure with a cap nut.
- Insert the other two bolts and secure with cap nuts.
- Tighten all nuts.
Refer to Figure 3 for handle installation.
- Connect the lead hose to the brace.
- Wrap tape in a clockwise direction so it will not unravel.
- Do not tape all the threads. Leave several leading threads unwrapped for easier alignment.
- Screw the lead hose into the end of the brace.
- Tape and screw the lead hose's other end into an air hose leading to the air source.
Refer to Figure 4 for lead hose connection.
- Connect a quick connect fitting or the desired tool to the outlet air hose.
Operation
- Pull the quick release pin on the reel's left side. This will pull the pin out of the long slot.
- Rotate the reel 90 degrees and release the pin when you reach the short slot. The reel will now move freely.
- Slowly pull the outlet hose out of the reel to avoid jarring it.
- Stop pulling the hose out when the hose's back mark appears. Pulling beyond that point can damage the hose and mechanism.
- Return the pin to the long slot to fix it in place.
- Once the task is complete, change the reel setting and rotate the hose back onto the reel with the handle.
- Wrap the hose onto the drum by guiding it with one hand and cranking the reel with the other. Make sure the wraps are tight to prevent pulling and trapping a loop between two other loops. This can prevent it from being spooled out and may interfere with air flow.
- Lock the reel in place.
Refer to Figure 5 for hose extension and retraction.
Pressure Drop
Apply the air consumption and pressure rate numbers to the tool's air inlet, not the compressor's outlet. Calculate the pressure drop for your air supply set-up and increase the compressor outlet pressure to compensate. Make sure you do not exceed the maximum pressure for any part of your air supply system.
Installing a pressure gauge at the tool inlet is the best way to measure the air pressure and adjust the compressor's output.
Care & Maintenance
- Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will have fewer problems.
- Check and tighten all loose screws, bolts and nuts.
- Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
- Only use accessories intended for use with this tool. Follow instructions for changing accessories.
- Maintain the tool's labels and name plates. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
[Warning] Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
Changing The Hose
- Pull out the old hose.
- Remove the two hose clamps holding the hose to the drum.
- Unscrew the hose from the swivel body and pull it loose from the drum.
- Slide the hose guard off the old hose.
- Slide the hose guard onto the new hose. You may need to twist the hose guard to work it onto the hose.
- Feed the new hose through the side opening in the drum's flange.
- Apply sealant tape onto the hose end threads. Screw the fitting into the swivel body and tighten with a wrench. Use a second wrench to stabilize the swivel body to avoid damaging it.
- Position the hose guard so it protects the hose from the drum walls.
- Secure the hose with the hose clamps.
- Carefully release the drum latch and slowly allow the hose to wind onto the reel. Stop when there are several feet of hose outside of the reel. Lock the reel.
- Feed the end of the hose through the guide roller bracket.
- Attach the stop block to the hose.
