Identifying the parts
Lens Diagram: A detailed diagram of the lens is provided, with numbered callouts indicating the following parts:
- 1. Lens hood position
- 2. Lens hood index
- 3. Focusing ring
- 4. Focusing mode switch (MF/AF)
- 5. Custom button Fn1
- 6. Custom button Fn2
- 7. Multi-functional ring
- 8. Focusing range switching rod
- 9. CLICK switch
- 10. Lens mounting index
- 11. Rubber seal
- 12. Lens data display
- 13. Electronic contacts
- 14. USB upgrade port
Lens information panel: When the lens is installed on the camera and the camera is powered on, the lens information panel will display:
- 1. Object distance indication identification
- 2. AB preset object distance identification
- 3. Fn icon
- 4. AB preset object distance icon
- 5. Object distance bar
- 6. Current object distance display
- 7. Aperture bar
- 8. Aperture indication identification
Focus lock
The [Custom button Fn1] serves as the focus lock button. Pressing Fn1 displays the [Fn icon] in yellow, enabling camera-specified functions. Refer to the camera's operation manual for details on [Custom control]. Note that the focus lock button may be invalid on some camera models; consult your camera's manual for compatibility information.
In AF mode, pressing the focus lock button cancels AF. The focus remains locked, allowing you to release the shutter. To restart AF, release the focus lock button while half-pressing the shutter.
A B preset object distance operation
The [Custom button Fn2] switches between preset object distances for Point A and Point B.
- When the [A B preset object distance icon] shows a gray 'A', Point A is ready. Pressing Fn2 displays a yellow 'A' icon, indicating the lens has reached Point A's preset distance. Pressing Fn2 again displays a yellow 'B' icon, indicating the lens has reached Point B's preset distance. If the object distance is readjusted, the icon reverts to gray.
A B preset object distance update
To update the object distance for Point A: with the [A B preset object distance icon] showing the 'A' icon, press and hold [Custom button Fn2]. The 'A' icon turning green confirms the update. The process for updating Point B is the same.
Attaching and detaching the lens
- To attach the lens: Align the white index on the lens barrel with the white index on the camera. Insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate clockwise until it locks. (Refer to the camera's User Manual for detailed instructions.)
- To detach the lens: While holding the lens release button on the camera, rotate the lens counterclockwise until it stops, then detach it. Place the lens with its back facing upwards to prevent scratches on the lens surface and electronic contacts.
- Lens cap: When the lens is detached, cover it with the dust cap. Align the mounting index on the dust cap with the mounting index on the lens, and rotate clockwise until it stops. Rotate counterclockwise to remove the cap.
Lens hood
The lens hood reduces flare, ghosting, and prevents rain, snow, and dust from sticking to the front of the lens.
- Attaching the lens hood: Align the attaching index on the lens hood with the index on the lens. Insert the lens hood into the lens mount and rotate clockwise until it clicks. Ensure the stop index on the lens hood aligns with the index on the lens.
- Detaching the lens hood: Rotate the lens hood counterclockwise until the attaching index aligns with the index on the lens, then remove the hood. The lens hood can also be stored in the reverse direction.
Lens construction diagram
A diagram illustrates the internal lens elements, highlighting 'ED low-dispersion lenses' and 'Lens with high refractive index'.
MTF graph (AF 135/1.8 LAB E-Mount)
Two MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) graphs are provided, showing performance at different spatial frequencies (10 Line Pair/Millimeter and 30 Line Pair/Millimeter) for apertures F1.8 and F8, with separate lines for sagittal (S) and meridional (M) measurements.
Safety Notes
- Do not look at the sun or bright sources through the lens or camera, as this may impair vision.
- Do not leave the lens in direct sunlight, whether mounted or not, as it may fuse and cause a fire.
- Keep the lens away from children to prevent accidents or injury.
- Do not disassemble internal parts of the product yourself, as this may cause damage.
Using Tips
- When attaching the lens, avoid mechanical impact.
- Always put the lens cap on when storing the lens.
- Avoid storing the lens in very humid places to prevent mildew.
- While the lens is dust-proof and moisture-proof, it is not completely waterproof. Exercise caution in rain or near water, as damage to internal, lens, or electronic parts may not be repairable.
- To prevent condensation from temperature shock (e.g., moving from cold to warm environments), place the lens in an airtight plastic bag or an oven until its temperature stabilizes. Use the same method when moving from a warm to a cold environment.
Cleaning
- Avoid touching the lens contacts with your hands. If the lens is dirty, blow off dust with a blower and gently wipe with a clean, soft lens cloth.
- Do not use organic solvents like thinner or gasoline for cleaning.
