Overview
The DP11 delivers the Dolby surround sound advantage by combining the P11 headset with the DSS2 surround sound processor that transforms any stereo headset into a full Dolby® Digital surround sound. The result is an amazing recreation of the 3D sound cues in the game, which sounds as if you're listening to real surround sound speakers placed all around you. Dolby Digital surround sound lets you pinpoint the position of sound cues to hear exactly where everything is coming from, so you'll enjoy a more realistic and immersive gaming experience.
The P11 headset features massive 50mm speakers and lightweight design for amazing sound quality and extreme comfort. With the P11, you'll be able to hear sound cues that are missed with conventional TV speakers, such as the sound of enemy footsteps or the click of a loading weapon in the distance. That means you'll react faster and take them out before they can take you out, giving you the edge that can make the difference between winning and losing.

Note 1: If your PC or Mac lacks a digital optical output, an "Optical S/PDIF Adapter" (like the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage® Micro II) may be required.
Note 2: In this configuration, the amplifier game volume controls game sound, and the mic mute switch silences the microphone. Chat volume is inactive.
Note 3: Most games require Dolby Digital Live software for 5.1 output. Otherwise, enhanced stereo audio will be heard.
Connecting a Digital Music Player
The DSS2 offers auxiliary and analog inputs for digital music players or other analog sources, each with different functionality:
Auxiliary Input: Functions as a stereo pass-thru, bypassing all audio processing. This allows surround sound and EQ effects on game audio without affecting music playback. The DSS2 volume control does not affect this input; adjust volume on the music player itself.
Analog Input: If Surround Sound is ON, the analog input signal is processed by surround virtualization. If Surround Sound is OFF, it's a pass-through, but EQ presets can still modify the audio. This input is deactivated if a digital optical cable is connected and a signal is detected.
Diagram showing a digital music player connected via 3.5mm cable to the Auxiliary Input or Analog Input of the DSS2.
Dolby® Digital Surround Sound
The DSS2 utilizes Dolby Digital 5.1 surround processing, the industry standard for multi-channel game audio. This technology recreates a 5.1 channel surround sound experience, making you feel as if you are listening to a 5.1 speaker system.
Dolby Digital Mode Operation:
- When the digital input signal is active, the Digital Input LED turns on, and analog inputs are disabled.
- If the Surround LED is OFF, Dolby processing is deactivated, and the signal is heard in stereo.
- If a Dolby Digital encoded signal is detected by the digital input, the front Dolby Digital LED turns on. Dolby Digital then processes the channels to create surround sound in the headset. Surround sound must be turned on to enable Dolby Digital processing.

LED Indicators:
- Digital Input LED: Indicates active digital input.
- Dolby Digital LED: Indicates detection of a Dolby Digital encoded signal.
- Surround Sound LED: Indicates when surround sound is enabled.
All four LEDs will be turned on when Dolby Surround Sound is active.

Troubleshooting
No Audio When Using a BluRay Player
Ensure BluRay player audio settings are configured for Dolby Digital. The DSS2 is not DTS compatible. A DTS signal will result in no audio.
No Sound When Using a Digital Connection
Verify the digital cable is properly connected and receiving a signal. Check for a red light from the optical cable's end when the source device is powered on. Ensure protective covers were removed from the optical cable ends.
Analog Input Isn't Working
The DSS2 analog input automatically shuts off when the digital input is active. To hear the analog input signal, either disconnect the optical cable from the DSS2, turn off the digital source device (e.g., PS3), or connect to the auxiliary input.
Safety Notice
To avoid potential damage, always disconnect all cables before transporting the device.
WARNING: Permanent hearing damage can occur if a headset is used at high volumes for extended periods. Maintain a safe listening level. Ears adapt to loud volumes, so a level that initially feels comfortable may still cause damage. If you experience ringing in your ears, the volume is too high.
- Before placing a headset on your ears, turn the volume down completely, then slowly increase it to a comfortable level.
- Turn down the volume if you cannot hear people speaking near you.
- Avoid increasing the volume to block out noisy surroundings.
