Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan

April 2025 - April 2026

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF COUNTRY

Toyota Australia acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of lands throughout Australia. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

THE TORCH

Since 2011, The Torch has been providing art, cultural and arts industry support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists currently in, or recently released, from Victorian prisons through its Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community program. The program supports the development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience, through cultural strengthening and artistic expression, with the aim of reducing the disproportionately high rates of Indigenous incarceration and recidivism in Victoria. The Torch assists artists to reconnect with culture, earn income from art sales, foster new networks and to pursue educational and creative industry avenues upon their release.

TMCA has partnered with The Torch and represented a number of artworks throughout our Reflect RAP which aim to represent the different pillars of Reconciliation. Representing Toyota Australia's commitment to reconciliation and the company-wide partnership with The Torch, Toyota's finance arm, Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) has also partnered with The Torch and artworks can also be seen in the TFA RAP.

TMCA has purchased the main artwork, 'I'm Black and White Coming Together' by Jon, which will be displayed in our office as a visible reminder of our commitment to Reconciliation. TMCA is proud to be given guardianship of Jon's visual narrative story and we showcase it with respect.

THE FOUR PILLARS OF OUR REFLECT RAP

The following artworks have been selected to represent the four pillars of our RAP being Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance.

Relationships

Title: We're Stronger Together
Artist: KC
Story: All mobs united through connection to Country. Showing totems from the dust of Arnhem Land all the way to the waters of Tasmania.

Respect

Title: Peace and Harmony of the Platypus
Artist: Ricky J
Story: Platypus brings a message of unity and tolerance in all people's lives. In the Dreamtime of south-eastern Australian peoples, platypus was asked by the tribes of birds, fish and animals to join one of their tribes. But platypus thought about this and decided no one tribe was better than the other. So platypus joined them all because no one is better than anyone else. Platypus's energy meanders along many routes.

Opportunities

Title: Optimistic
Artist: KNWA
Story: I have used gum leaves to represent prison bars because I am looking to begin a positive future, 'turning over a new leaf', connecting with my identity and culture.

Governance

Title: Burning of the Land: Season of Fire #1
Artist: Veronica Mungaloon Hudson
Story: Land is burnt to clear it of old growth and encourage new growth. Animals are attracted to the new growth and they can then be hunted for bush tucker. It's a traditional cycle of life which keeps our young healthy and strong as they learn to hunt and gather. To get the desired effect in this painting, grasses and branches have been used to apply paint. Some of the seed heads from the grasses are embedded in the paint.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Matthew Callachor
President and Chief Executive Officer Toyota

It brings me great pride that Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA), now joins Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) and many other organisations across Australia, committed to reconciliation through the RAP program. This Reflect RAP represents our formal commitment towards reconciliation and is the beginning of a journey in which we aim to shape a future based on trust, respect, inclusiveness and happiness for all. Our organisation is privileged to serve communities far and wide across the vast lands of the country, from remote regional communities to the larger communities in the major cities. With a significant geographical footprint across the country, a diverse customer base, the vast Toyota dealership network, as well as long-established corporate partnerships and community programs, our "sphere of influence" is far-reaching. Through this sphere of influence, we are confident of achieving our reconciliation vision and contributing a meaningful impact to reconciliation across Australia. Our reconciliation journey through the RAP program will be guided by embracing our Toyota Way values, our company vision and mission, and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). It is through this means, that we commence our journey and look forward to seeing positive outcomes from the TMCA RAP program, for our staff, the First Nations community, our diverse customer base and the wider-Australian community at large. This is our first step, but an important one on the journey of reconciliation.

A MESSAGE FROM THE RECONCILIATION AUSTRALIA CEO

Karen Mundane
Chief Executive Officer Reconciliation Australia

Reconciliation Australia welcomes Toyota Motor Corporation Australia to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program with the formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect RAP. Toyota Motor Corporation Australia joins a network of more than 3,000 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the RAP program. Since 2006, RAPs have provided a framework for organisations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement. The program's potential for impact is greater than ever, with close to 3 million people now working or studying in an organisation with a RAP.

The four RAP types - Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate - allow RAP partners to continuously develop and strengthen reconciliation commitments in new ways. This Reflect RAP will lay the foundations, priming the workplace for future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives. The RAP program's strength is its framework of relationships, respect, and opportunities, allowing an organisation to strategically set its reconciliation commitments in line with its own business objectives, for the most effective outcomes. These outcomes contribute towards the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations; equality and equity; institutional integrity; unity; and historical acceptance. It is critical to not only uphold all five dimensions of reconciliation, but also increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge, and leadership across all sectors of Australian society. This Reflect RAP enables Toyota Motor Corporation Australia to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress across the five dimensions. Getting these first steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and provide meaningful impact toward Australia's reconciliation journey. Congratulations Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, welcome to the RAP program, and I look forward to following your reconciliation journey in the years to come.

OUR PEOPLE

As an employer, we are fundamentally responsible for creating a supportive and safe environment for over 1,600 employees (excluding Dealerships). At Toyota Australia, we have a robust Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) strategy that fosters and encourages a culture of respect, understanding and connection. However, we recognise we have a long road ahead to increase our employment of current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples beyond the current level of representation which is 0.58% of total headcount (as at February 2025). Toyota Australia would like to see a higher representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the company's employment base and this Reflect RAP is our commitment to further improvement in this area.

THE TOYOTA WAY CORE VALUES

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION AND BELONGING AT TMCA

TMCA is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. To this end we have established a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) strategy to provide a guiding framework for delivery on this commitment.

Our strategy outlines a range of initiatives to achieve our DEIB objectives, and the execution of the strategy is guided by our DEIB Council. The Council consists of Vice Presidents, General Managers and other employee representatives from across the business, who are all equally passionate to see the DEIB strategy succeed. The DEIB strategy and initiatives are representative of our core organisational values of `Show Respect for People' and `Continuous Improvement'.

To assist the DEIB Council to deliver the DEIB strategy, we have also established employee resource groups, known as Action Teams, which are comprised of broad representatives (employees) from across the business and diverse cultural backgrounds. The First Nations Action Team focuses on delivery of reconciliation and RAP related components of the DEIB strategy.

This Reflect RAP is the key focus for our First Nations Action Team, and the Action Team, with the support of the DEIB Council, Executive Team and the TMCA Board of Directors, are committed to bringing the RAP to life at TMCA.

Through sustained success in delivering our DEIB and RAP strategies, TMCA aims to deliver on and advance an agenda of positive societal outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, which we believe will create a more united and harmonious society for all Australians. This sentiment aligns to our vision for reconciliation which we have outlined on the next page.

Rachel Eather
Acting Manager DEIB Toyota Motor Corporation Australia

OUR VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

An inclusive Australian society founded on trust and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all cultures, free of racism and discrimination, where all people can unite together side by side. Within TMCA, this means embracing our Toyota Way core values to achieve positive and equitable outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, our organisation, and those within our sphere of influence leading to a genuine and meaningful reconciliation.

OVERVIEW OF OUR REFLECT RAP

TMCA has a long-standing diversity and inclusion program which has included activities intended to advance reconciliation in Australia. As our program has evolved, we have identified the need for a dedicated program and industry recognised framework for our reconciliation activities, as a means to maximise the impact of our activities, and in the hope to inspire others to join us in the journey towards national reconciliation.

The Reconciliation Australia RAP program provides that framework and enables TMCA to connect with a wide network of organisations, all committed to furthering reconciliation in Australia. This RAP formalises our commitment to reconciliation and is a platform to develop and grow our contribution to reconciliation over time.

The driving force to develop and plan for this Reflect RAP, was our First Nations Action Team. This team is composed of diverse representatives from across the business, all equally as passionate and committed to achieving positive outcomes from TMCA's RAP program. The First Nations Action Team has First Nations representation within the team and this representation, complemented with support from Boomalli Consulting (noted below) was an important guiding voice to create a culturally appropriate RAP with the right level of focus on achieving the outcomes defined within our reconciliation vision. Throughout the planning phase for the Reflect RAP, the First Nations Action Team has sought engagement and contribution from senior stakeholders across the business, and final endorsement has been provided from the Executive Management Committee (EMC).

To ensure sufficient context and foundational understanding from those core governing bodies and senior stakeholders involved in the development and endorsement of this Reflect RAP, the First Nations Action Team and TMCA Executive team (General Managers, Vice Presidents and CEO), will all complete cultural awareness training, facilitated by Boomalli Consulting (a Supply Nation certified provider). Consultation and input to the Reflect RAP was also sought from Boomalli Consulting and the artwork embedded through the Reflect RAP was sourced from The Torch.

The First Nations Action Team will be the key body to progress the execution of the Reflect RAP, and the team will engage with the RAP Program Executive Sponsor (General Manager National Marketing), as well as the Strategy and Planning arms of TMCA, to ensure alignment to the organisational strategy and provision of resources required for the program execution. Progress will be reported through the DEIB Council, with further engagement of other oversight bodies (e.g. the GMC and TMCA Board) sought as required.

Throughout the execution phase of this Reflect RAP, TMCA will continue to seek partnership, consultation and input into the program, from external Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations. TMCA have also partnered with fellow Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) group organisation and Reflect RAP member (since 2022), Toyota Finance Australia, to create synergies, share knowledge and resources in the planning for this Reflect RAP and will continue this partnership throughout the Reflect RAP execution.

Through the Reflect RAP execution, our people will be a key driver to embed the spirit and vision of the Reflect RAP throughout our everyday activities and decision making. Accordingly, this Reflect RAP will invest in growing our "cultural competencies" amongst our employees, and have an education focus aimed at presenting truthful information about the shared history between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Islander people. The diagram (see page 16) further outlines the RAP structures and governance currently in place.

GROW CULTURAL COMPETENCIES

INSIGHT AND COUNSEL

Insight and Counsel: TMCA recognises the importance of listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and experiences to inform the planning and execution of our RAP. Accordingly, TMCA engages with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and stakeholders as a key input to our Reconciliation activities.

Grow Cultural Competencies: We engage with our staff and People Managers to grow cultural competencies within the business. Predominately this involves improving cultural education and awareness as well as activities. It invokes a deeper and more meaningful interaction of our staff with the TMCA RAP Program. The objective is to create an environment whereby all staff participate in and actively support the implementation of our RAP.

OVERVIEW OF SOME OF OUR EXISTING PARTNERSHIPS WITH ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER ORGANISATIONS

Prior to commencement of this RAP, Toyota Australia has already established partnerships with a number of First Nations-based community organisations. Listed below are some of the organisations we have supported, centered around our long-standing commitment to the sport in the Australian community.

Racing Together

Toyota Australia proudly partners with Racing Together whose role is to support and encourage First Nations youth to participate in Motorsport, through weekend workshops and training in 2 locations (Logan and Townsville both in Queensland). The Racing Together project is designed to identify and then assist suitable candidates from a cohort of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youths of both genders, in the 12 to 17 years age group, and provide them with an opportunity to pursue a career in motor sport, as either a driver or a member of a race team. The program holistically supports the students in all facets of the racing industry with some of the students going on to jobs in the industry. Toyota Australia has supported the organisation with $150,000 of funding in the past 3 years (2022-24) to maintain and upgrade the Logan site and trial the Townsville location with a view to it becoming a permanent base with crew meeting weekly. Toyota Australia has also supported with film documentation for PR use as well as provision of motor vehicles.

Cowboys House

Toyota Australia is proud to be the Foundation Partner of the NRL Cowboys House, an initiative by the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys. The NRL Cowboys House is dedicated to overcoming the challenge of distance, providing First Nations students from some of Australia's most remote and geographically disadvantaged communities with access to quality secondary education. This unique, culturally safe boarding facility in Townsville supports young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women as they attend partner schools in the area. Toyota's contribution includes a 22-seat Coaster, which offers essential daily transportation for the boarding students at NRL Cowboys House, further supporting their educational journey and overall well-being.
