6. INSTALLATION
There are two methods to connect and install the recorder:
- Charge via cigarette lighter: Insert the car charger into the cigarette lighter and connect it to the recorder using the 3.5-meter power cord. Most of the power cord can be hidden within the car's interior trim for a neat installation.
- Connecting the Hardwire kit cable: This method connects to the fuse box for power, enabling parking monitoring. It uses a step-down wire and the dark wire for a cleaner look. This wiring is more complex. To avoid vehicle damage from misoperation, it is recommended to have this installation done by a professional car service point.
Note: The Hardwire kit must be purchased separately or as part of a package that includes it.
The following steps describe the installation using the cigarette lighter method:
- Prepare the windshield: Wipe the front windshield clean with a soft cloth to ensure the bracket adheres securely.
- Attach the recorder to the bracket: Insert the recorder into the bracket sleeve. A magnet inside the bracket secures the recorder.
- Connect power:
- Insert the car charger into the cigarette lighter and connect it to the recorder using the Type-C power cable.
- Once the car is started, the recorder will power on automatically, emit a "Hello, Fanttik" sound, and begin recording.
- Determine installation position and adjust lens angle:
- Use the FanttikCam mobile app to connect to the recorder. Navigate to "Device > Enter the Recorder" and then to the "Now/Back" interface. A level indicator will be displayed on the screen, showing horizontal and vertical midlines.
- Position the recorder in the center of the front windshield. Ensure the bottom of the bracket is attached to the windshield, the lens faces outward, and the power interface is on the right. Align the car's front centerline with the vertical midline on the screen. Adjust the recorder and bracket up/down until the ground plane's disappearing line aligns with the horizontal centerline on the screen.
Notice: Incorrect positioning based on center lines may affect some recorder functions.
- Fix the recorder:
- After determining the final position, apply the electrostatic sticker to the windshield.
- Peel the 3M adhesive film from the bracket and attach the bracket to the center of the electrostatic sticker.
Note: Pay close attention to the direction and position when applying the 3M adhesive, as it is a one-time item. Ensure the recorder is mounted at the correct shooting angle.
- Wiring: Route the power cord from the cigarette lighter to the recorder's mounting location, as shown in the wiring diagram. Use the included spudger tool to tuck the power cord neatly into the plastic car trim.
Wiring Diagram Description: An illustration of a car's interior dashboard and windshield area, showing the power cord path from the cigarette lighter socket, along the car's interior trim (indicated by dashed lines), to the "Ideal mount area" on the windshield. It also shows a "Tuck in cable" instruction.

8. FUNCTION INTRODUCTION
Parking Monitoring:
When connected via the hardwire kit, the recorder can monitor your vehicle while parked and turned off. This feature allows you to review footage to check for any collisions or incidents that occurred during parking.
Note: The hardwire kit is sold separately. Connecting to the fuse box is complex and recommended to be done by a professional to prevent damage.
The default parking monitoring mode is "time-lapse recording". Supported modes include: "time-lapse recording", "normal recording", and "sleep".
- Declare:
- If "time-lapse recording" or "normal recording" is selected for parking monitoring, the Wi-Fi will turn off after 15 minutes of parking.
- Collision sensitivity can be adjusted in "Setting Collision Sensitivity".
- In "normal recording" mode, if a collision occurs within the set duration, the recorder will continue parking monitoring and generate associated photos and videos.
- In "time-lapse video recording" mode, a collision within the recording time will also trigger an associated photo without exiting parking monitoring.
- Parking surveillance duration can be set in "Setting the recording duration of parking surveillance". The default is "24 hours", with options for "15 minutes", "1 hour", "6 hours", "24 hours", and "Not shut down".
- The recorder will automatically shut down to protect the vehicle battery if the battery voltage drops below a set protection value. The default protection value is "12V", with selectable options of "12.4V", "12V", and "11.8V". A lower protection voltage allows for longer parking monitoring recording time.
Collision Latch:
When the recorder is active, it detects collisions (e.g., emergency braking) and triggers an emergency photo and video, stored separately and not overwritten by normal recording.
- Higher collision sensitivity makes triggering photos easier; lower sensitivity makes it less likely.
- Default sensitivity is "Medium", with options: "High", "Medium", "Low", and "Off".
- Default emergency video duration is "10s", with options: "10s", "20s", and "30s".
ADAS Intelligent Driving Assistance:
This system includes a "front vehicle start" alert. For optimal performance, install the dashcam near the center of the windshield. If not needed, this feature can be turned off.
- Declare: If you change the installation position or lens angle, re-calibrate the ADAS system for accuracy.
- Calibration Reset Method: Connect the mobile app, go to the preview interface, tap the settings icon, select "Recorder Settings", then "ADAS intelligent auxiliary reminder > ADAS effect reset", and follow on-screen prompts for position adjustment and calibration.
Voice Command:
Enabled by default and can be turned off. Only English is supported. Commands include: "Take photo", "Turn on audio", "Turn off audio".
Recording:
Recording is off by default and can be activated via voice command or the app. If the microphone is enabled, audio will be recorded with video. If disabled, no audio will be captured.
Switch Video Resolution:
Higher resolution provides clearer video but shorter recording time. Lower resolution offers less clarity but longer recording time.
- Default resolution is 4K (2160P). Options include: 4K (2160P), 2K (1600P), and Full HD (1080P).
SR (Super Resolution):
Note: The real-time effect of SR is viewed in the preview, not the final output. SR data is for reference only, and its accuracy is influenced by the recorder's installation position.
Format Memory:
It is recommended to format the memory every 1-3 months to ensure optimal performance. Formatting erases all video and photo files, so back up data beforehand.
- Connect the recorder to the Fanttik mobile app.
- Navigate to "Device > Enter Recorder" and then to the "Now/Back" interface.
- Go to "More Settings" in the quick menu, then "Recorder Settings", "Recorder Storage Management", and click "Format".
Upgrade Firmware:
- Via App: When a new firmware version is released, connect the recorder to the Fanttik App. An upgrade prompt will appear, guiding you through the process. If you skip the prompt, it will reappear upon reconnection. You can also manually check for updates via "Me > About Fanttik > New firmware available".
- Via eMMC Memory:
- With the recorder turned off, connect it to a computer using the Type-C data cable.
- Download and decompress the firmware upgrade package. Copy the decompressed update folder to the root directory of the recorder's built-in memory.
Note: When unzipping, select "Extract to the current folder". Copy the entire update folder, not individual files.
- Power on the recorder; it will automatically upgrade and complete after restarting. Do not disconnect power during the upgrade.
Other Settings:
- Time Watermark: Enable to display time and recorder model on screen; disable to hide them.
- GPS Speed Display: Enable to show GPS real-time speed on screen; disable to hide it.
- Image Flipping: Disabled by default. Advised not to enable unless in special circumstances.
- H.265 Video Encoding: Enables higher definition recording but may have requirements for mobile phone configuration.
- Power-on Prompt Sound: Enable for startup/shutdown sounds; disable for silence. The startup beep is on by default.
