Safety Instructions

⚠️ ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD!

  • If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
  • Use the appliance only in dry rooms, not outdoors.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids! Otherwise, there is a risk of fatal electric shock.
  • Never insert cutlery or other metallic objects into the toasting slots.
  • Ensure the appliance never comes into contact with water. Never operate the appliance near water or containers holding liquids.
  • Ensure the power cord does not become wet or damp during operation. Route it so it cannot be pinched or otherwise damaged.
  • Always unplug the power plug from the socket after use to prevent accidental activation.

⚠️ WARNING! INJURY HAZARD!

  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the appliance and understand the resulting hazards.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. Keep children younger than 8 years away from the appliance and its power cord.
  • Appliance parts can become hot during operation. Therefore, only touch the operating elements.
  • Operate the appliance only on a stable, non-slip, and level surface.
  • Do not use an external timer or separate remote control system to operate the appliance.
  • Fully unwind the power cord from the cord winder before using the appliance.
  • There is a risk of burns if you do not use standard toast bread! Due to the smaller size or shape, there is a risk of touching hot parts when removing the toasted bread.

⚠️ FIRE HAZARD!

  • Toasting food can ignite! Therefore, never place the toaster near or under flammable objects, especially not under curtains or wall cabinets.
  • The appliance must not be used near flammable materials.
  • Never cover the toaster while it is in operation.

Tips for Use

  • Do not use bread slices that are too large or too thick, as they may jam in the toaster. If bread slices jam, first unplug the appliance from the socket. Use a blunt wooden object (e.g., a brush handle) to release jammed bread slices, taking care not to touch the heating elements.
  • Differences in bread type, moisture, and thickness of individual slices affect the browning of the toast. Therefore, toast bread should ideally be stored in an airtight package. Always try the lowest browning setting first.
  • Use a lower browning level when toasting dark bread, as dark bread browns faster than fresh bread.
  • Select a lower browning level if you are toasting only one slice of bread.
  • The numbers on the browning regulator (2) are not time indications. They serve only as a guide for the browning level.
  • To prevent the toaster from overheating and to achieve even browning of the bread, wait approximately 15 seconds between two toasting cycles.
  • The highest setting on the browning regulator (2) should only be used for large slices of dark bread. Light bread may burn and become inedible at this browning level. It may also produce smoke. In such a case, immediately press the "Stop" button (3) and unplug the power plug from the socket.

Placement

  • ATTENTION! FIRE HAZARD! Never place the appliance near or under flammable objects, especially not under curtains or wall cabinets. There is a fire hazard!
  • Unwind the power cord completely from the cord winder (9) and guide it through the cord clip (1).
  • Place the appliance on a level and heat-resistant surface.
  • Plug the power plug into a socket.
  • ℹ️ Note: When taking the toaster out of service, always unplug the power plug from the socket. This is the only way to ensure the appliance is de-energized.

Before First Use

  • Operate the toaster three times without toast on the maximum browning setting "6".
  • Clean the toaster as described in the "Cleaning" chapter.
  • ℹ️ Note: The control lever (8) only engages when the power cord is plugged in.
  • A slight odor may occur during the first use (slight smoke development is possible). This is normal and will disappear after a short time. Ensure adequate ventilation; for example, open a window.

Operation

Setting Browning Level

The desired browning level from "light" (1) to "dark" (6) can be steplessly adjusted using the browning regulator (2).

Toasting

⚠️ ATTENTION! FIRE HAZARD! Do not cover the toasting slots (7) when the toaster is in operation. There is a risk of fire! The appliance may be irreparably damaged!

ℹ️ Note: When toasting only one slice of bread, turn the browning regulator (2) back by approximately 1 setting to achieve the same browning as with two slices.

  1. After setting the desired browning level, insert the bread into the toasting slot (7).
  2. Press the control lever (8) down. The automatic bread centering aligns the inserted bread in the toasting slot (7). The indicator light integrated into the "Stop" button (3) illuminates during the toasting process.
  3. When the desired browning level is reached, the toaster automatically switches off, and the bread slices pop up. The indicator light goes out.

Interrupting Toasting

To interrupt the toasting process, press the "Stop" button (3). The toaster switches off, and the bread slices pop up.

Reheating Function

The reheating function allows you to warm bread without browning it. For example, if already toasted bread has cooled down. The bread is only warmed briefly.

  1. Insert the bread and press the control lever (8) down.
  2. Press the "Reheat" button (4). The integrated indicator light illuminates.
  3. When the bread is reheated, the appliance automatically switches off, and the bread slices pop up.

ℹ️ Note: To switch off the reheating function again, press the "Reheat" button (4) once more. The integrated indicator light goes out, and the reheating process reverts to normal toasting. To completely interrupt the toasting process, press the "Stop" button (3). The toaster switches off, and the bread slices pop up.

Defrost Function

By pressing the "Defrost" button (5), you can also defrost and toast frozen bread. The toaster warms the bread slowly. Activating the defrost function ensures that frozen toast achieves the same browning level as normally toasted fresh bread.

  1. After setting the desired browning level, insert the bread into the toasting slot (7).
  2. Press the control lever (8) down.
  3. Press the "Defrost" button (5). The integrated indicator light illuminates.
  4. When defrosting and toasting is completely finished, the toaster automatically switches off, the indicator light in the "Defrost" button (5) goes out, and the bread slices pop up.

ℹ️ Note: To switch off the defrost function again, press the "Defrost" button (5) once more. The integrated indicator light goes out, and the defrost process reverts to normal toasting. To completely interrupt the toasting process, press the "Stop" button (3). The toaster switches off, and the bread slices pop up.

Warming Buns

Never place buns directly on the toaster; always use the bun attachment (6).

  1. Fold out the two feet of the bun attachment (6).
  2. Place the bun attachment (6) onto the appliance so that the feet fit into the toasting slots (7) and the crossbar between the toasting slots (7) fits into the indentations of the feet. The bun attachment (6) will then sit securely on the appliance.
  3. Place the buns on it and start the toasting process. Set the browning regulator (2) to the desired browning level. A browning level setting of 1 is recommended, but the setting may vary depending on the bread product and personal taste.

ℹ️ Note: Buns are very hot after toasting.

  1. Once the toaster switches off, turn the buns immediately to toast the other side and switch the toaster on again.
  2. When you no longer need the bun attachment (6), you can store it to save space:
  • Wait until the bun attachment (6) has cooled down.
  • Remove it from the appliance.
  • Fold the support feet of the bun attachment (6) back in.

Crumb Tray

During toasting, falling crumbs are collected in the crumb tray (10).

  1. To remove crumbs, pull out the crumb tray (10).
  2. Empty the crumbs.
  3. Reinsert the crumb tray (10) into the toaster until it audibly clicks into place.

ℹ️ Note: Empty the crumb tray regularly to prevent fire hazard.

Cleaning

⚠️ ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD!

  • First, unplug the power plug from the socket before cleaning the appliance.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids! Otherwise, there is a risk of fatal electric shock.

⚠️ WARNING! INJURY HAZARD!

  • Let the toaster cool down before cleaning. Risk of burns!

⚠️ ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

  • Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents. These can damage the appliance's surface.
  • Clean the housing with a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth.
  • Wipe the bun attachment (6) with a damp cloth.
  • Empty the crumb tray (10) at regular intervals to prevent fire hazard.

Storage

  • Clean the toaster as described in the "Cleaning" chapter.
  • Wind the power cord in the direction of the arrow around the cord winder (9) on the underside of the toaster. Secure the end of the power cord with the cord clip (1).
