- 4mm Allen key
- 5mm Allen key
- 6mm Allen key
- #2 Phillips screwdriver
- 15mm wrench
- 4mm wrench
Assembly Steps
- Open carton: Carefully open the carton, guarding against staples. Remove the bicycle, preferably with assistance. Place the bicycle upright on a non-slip floor, leaning it against a stable object. Remove all wrapping and padding material, recycling as facilities permit.
- Install Seatpost: Apply a thin film of grease inside the frame's seat tube. Insert the seatpost and secure it using the quick release. Clamp the bicycle by the seatpost, avoiding clamping above the suspension collar if applicable.
- Install Pedals: Pedals are marked 'L' (Left) and 'R' (Right). The 'R' pedal attaches to the crank arm with the chainring and threads clockwise using a 15mm wrench. The 'L' pedal attaches to the non-chain side and threads counter-clockwise. Ensure pedals are tightened to 40Nm.
- Install Stem: Loosen the Allen bolt of the steer tube's top cap. Install the stem onto the steer tube, ensuring the fork is stable. Tighten the center bolt to adjust headset bearing looseness, ensuring bearings turn freely without being too tight. Center the stem and tighten stem bolts to 5Nm using a 4mm torque wrench.
- Install Front Wheel: Install the front wheel quick-release skewer, positioning the lever on the left or right side. Ensure the wheel is centered in the dropouts and tighten the skewer.
- Attach Front Fender and Light: Use a 5mm Allen head bolt to attach the front fender and light to the fork bridge. Use 4mm Allen head bolts for the lower portion. Some models may use 8mm nuts for fender stays. Connect the light, aligning the keyway, and aim it approximately 5 meters ahead.
- Check Fasteners: Ensure all nuts and bolts, especially on the seat, seatpost, stem, and handlebars, are tight. Verify that all levers and controls are easily accessible and that gears and brakes function correctly and safely.
- Inflate Tires: Inflate tires according to the manufacturer's recommendations found on the tire sidewall.
Adjustments After Assembly
Cockpit
- Adjust handlebar controls and levers left, right, up, and down using a screwdriver or Allen key.
- Ensure all controls are visible, within reach, and unobstructed.
- Brake levers should be angled between 3 and 4 o'clock for comfortable grip access.
- Angle the display for optimal visibility from the seated position.
- Ensure function buttons (up, down) are reachable while holding the grip.
- Verify that accessories like mirrors or phone holders do not impede control access or function. Ensure control cables do not pull or bind.
Seatpost & Saddle
- For efficient riding, elevate the seat so your leg is nearly straight when the pedal is at its lowest point. At a standstill, you should be able to touch the ground with your toes. Adjust seat height for comfort and security as you gain familiarity.
- The seatpost has minimum insertion and maximum extension marks. Do not raise the seatpost beyond the maximum extension mark to avoid damage not covered by warranty.
Disc Brakes
This e-bike is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, featuring a sealed system that should not be tampered with and requires specialized tools for maintenance. While generally low maintenance, brakes should be checked during tune-ups (annually or as needed), with fluid changes performed by a qualified technician if necessary.
Drivetrain
- The bicycle uses Shimano 'indexed' gears. Each click of the lever shifts the chain to the next cog on the rear wheel.
- If gears are slow to engage or noisy, the rear derailleur may require adjustment by an authorized Wolff dealer.
Suspension Fork and Suspension Seatpost (model dependent)
Keep the seat post and fork legs clean and dry. Avoid clamping or attaching anything that could impede their function.
Care & Maintenance
1) Pump your tires
E-bikes are heavier than standard bicycles, making tire inflation crucial for easier pedaling and motor assistance. Properly inflated tires improve range and reduce rolling resistance, while also protecting rims from damage, especially from potholes or curbs.
Check the tire sidewall for the recommended PSI range. Do not exceed the minimum or maximum limits to avoid discomfort, premature wear, or damage to tires, tubes, wheels, or the bicycle. Check tire pressure at least twice a month and top up as needed. Inspect tires for nicks, cuts, debris, and wear during checks.
2) Keep your chain clean and lubed
A clean and lubricated drivetrain ensures better performance and longevity. Apply a light-duty oil to the chain and derailleur pivot points every 200km (125 miles) or as recommended by the lubricant manufacturer. Chains wear and stretch over time; replace the chain before it becomes excessively worn to prevent damage to the rest of the drivetrain.
3) Avoid going over curbs
E-bikes are heavier, so impacts from bumps or curbs transmit more shock to components, potentially causing damage over time. Rim tires are also more susceptible to bending. When riding on bumpy surfaces, lift off the seat to reduce pressure on the motor and bike. For curbs, dismount the bike to minimize stress. This practice significantly prolongs the e-bike's lifespan.
4) Regularly clean your bike
Dirt and mud can damage mechanical and electrical components. Clean your bike regularly using a damp cloth and a bike-friendly cleaner. Avoid using high-pressure water, as it can penetrate internal parts like bearings and the motor, causing damage or rust. Bring your e-bike to a registered Wolff dealer for safety checks and tune-ups every few months.
Operating Procedures
Installation and removal of battery
The battery is fully integrated into the frame. To remove, insert the key on the left side of the frame and turn it 180 degrees to unlatch the battery. Lift the battery out, using the visible safety catch on the underside of the frame for support.
To install, insert the key and turn it to the 'unlock' position. Place the bottom of the battery into the frame, then gently push the top until it clicks. Turn the key 180 degrees to lock the battery. Tug gently to ensure it is secure. Turn on the display to confirm power.
Charging the Battery
Your Wolff charger uses a standard North American plug for 120v sockets. The battery has a jack-type plug. The charger's LED indicator shows charging status: Red for charging, Green for fully charged. Do not leave charging batteries unattended. Batteries can be charged while installed on the bike or removed. A full charge from low takes up to 4 hours.
Cut-off function
Wolff bicycles feature a 'cut-off' function that stops the motor when the brake levers are activated. Both levers have electric sensors. Engaging either brake cuts motor power. Releasing the brake lever instantly restores power.
Battery Storage
The Wolff e-bike battery can be stored on the bicycle when not in use. Store in a clean, dry place, protected from impact. In cold climates (below 0°C/32°F), store the battery at room temperature for optimal life and performance. If the battery is unused for over 3 months, plug it in for 1 hour every 8 weeks.
Turning the Power ON / OFF
Press the silver button on the right side of the frame to turn on the battery. Then, press and hold the lower right-side button on the controller until the display lights up. To turn off, press the frame button again to cut power to the display.
Throttle
The throttle lever is located beside the left grip and is thumb-activated. It cannot be engaged from a standstill; pedal to at least 6.5km/h (4 mph) before activation. Pedaling is not required when using the throttle. Applying the brakes cuts power to the throttle.

FAQ
How far can an e-bike go?
E-bike range varies based on battery size, weather, rider weight, speed, assistance level, terrain, wind, tire pressure, and temperature. Low tire pressure increases friction, making it harder for the motor to maintain speed. Hilly terrain requires more motor effort, draining the battery faster.
How can you optimize e-bike autonomy?
To maximize range, keep tires inflated and manage assistance levels. Switch to 'eco' mode when at desired speed. Increase assistance and pedal when slowing down. Higher assistance levels consume battery faster. Use appropriate gears for speed and terrain.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
E-bike batteries take up to 4.5 hours to charge from low. Batteries can be removed for charging at home or the office.
What care/maintenance does the battery need?
Batteries are designed for 600+ recharges. For long-term storage (e.g., winter), keep the battery charged at 30-60%. Store indoors in cold temperatures. If unused for over 3 months, charge for 1 hour every 8 weeks.
How to transport your e-bike?
Transport e-bikes on a rack designed for their weight, using a two-inch hitch to minimize wobbling. Remove the battery to reduce weight. Alternatively, fold down car seats, remove the front wheel, and place the bike in the car. Ensure no other objects are near the bike during transport, as electrical parts are sensitive.
What if my battery turns off or it dies? / Can I use it as a regular bike?
If the battery dies or assistance is turned off, the e-bike can be ridden like a regular bicycle.
Can I bring it to a regular bike shop for a tune up?
E-bikes have complex electrical components. Ensure the bike shop has experience with your e-bike brand or type before service. Inexperienced mechanics can damage internal parts. Annual check-ups and tune-ups are recommended, especially for daily riders.
How much does an e-bike weigh?
E-bikes typically weigh 55-60 pounds, compared to 30-35 pounds for traditional bikes, due to motors and batteries. Manufacturers are working to reduce component weight, but lighter versions may compromise power and range.
