Tools Required:

  1. Dig the Airline Trench
Dig a trench from the aeration cabinet to the edge of the pond. This trench should be at least 8" deep to protect the airline.
  2. Place and Connect Airline in the Trench
Place a single run of 1” Direct Burial (sold separately) in the trench from the cabinet location to the pond's edge.
  3. Connect Airline to the Compressor Manifold
Shallow Water Series®, PondSeries® & LakeSeries® Aeration Systems: Connect flex tubes from compressor to the brass barbs on the 3 : 1 manifold adapter, then connect 1" direct burial airline to the 1” barb fitting. If using with a SW20 or PS20 system, remove one of the brass barb fittings and install the 1/2" MPT plug provided. Removal of flex tube quick disconnects on SW systems will be necessary before connecting to the brass barbs.
DO NOT tighten brass barb fittings further than production depth. Overtightening can damage the manifold.
Aeration Systems Using Camlock Connector Kit(s): Remove the brass barbs from the 3 : 1 manifold adapter and install 1/2" male camlock ends (sold separately). Install only two male camlock ends if using with an SW20 or PS20, and insert the galvanized plug into the remaining hole. Connect the flex tubes with female camlocks to the male camlock fittings on the 3 : 1 manifold adapter, then connect the 1" direct burial to the 1" barb fitting.
Be sure the valves on the compressor manifold (SW-PS systems) or the cabinet manifolds (LS systems) are open for the flex tubes that have been used, and turn the remaining valves to the closed position.
  4. Install the Junction Valve Box
Select a location in line with the trench, near the pond's edge, and place the Junction Valve Box with the single outlet side pointing to the compressor and the multi-outlet side pointing toward the pond. Using a shovel, mark an area slightly larger than the Junction Valve Box. Dig the hole to a depth of 8". Place the Junction Valve Box into the hole.
  5. Connect the Remote Manifold to Direct Burial
Place the Remote Manifold into the Junction Valve Box. Attach the 1" direct burial to the 1” barbed fitting on the Remote Manifold and secure with a hose clamp.
  6. Connect the Remote Manifold to the Diffuser Airline
For each port on the Remote Manifold, attach the corresponding fittings to the ball valves depending on the size of weighted airline being used with your diffusers. Feed the weighted airline for each diffuser into the Junction Valve Box and connect it to the Remote Manifold, securing with a hose clamp. Any ball valves not in use must be closed.
  7. Level and Backfill the Junction Valve Box
Check to be sure the Junction Valve Box is level and flush with the ground's surface, then backfill around the Junction Valve Box.
  8. Fill the Junction Valve Box with Gravel
You may choose to fill the Junction Valve Box with small stone or gravel up to the outlet holes. This will help with drainage and keep the Remote Manifold clean.
  9. Start the Aeration System and Adjust Airflow
Start the aeration system, and adjust the airflow using the ball valves at the Remote Manifold.
Note: Diffusers placed farther away or in deeper water will require more airflow. It may take several minutes for changes in airflow to appear at the diffusers.
  10. Backfill Trench and Close Junction Valve Box
Installation is complete. Backfill the airline trench, and place the lid on the Junction Valve Box.

Note: All LS systems will have two remote manifolds at the pond's edge. If distributing airflow across both manifolds is desired, remove one of the 1” galvanized plugs from each manifold and use part H from each kit (1" Barb x MPT) to connect the manifolds with 1" airline.
