Sangean Survivor DAB (MMR-88 DAB) Quick Start Guide
Introduction
The Sangean Survivor DAB (MMR-88 DAB) is powered by a rechargeable 850mAh Lithium-ion battery. Before operating the radio for the first time, ensure the supplied battery is fully charged.
Inserting the Supplied Rechargeable Battery
Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity as indicated in the battery compartment.

Recharging the Lithium-ion Battery
The battery can be recharged using several methods:
- Using the supplied USB Cable: Connect the USB cable to a computer's USB socket or the radio's USB socket.
- Using AC power adaptor with Micro USB connector (not supplied): Plug the AC adapter into a standard AC outlet and connect the Micro USB end to the radio's Micro USB socket.
- Using Dynamo power: Pull out the Dynamo power handle and rotate it approximately 120 rotations per minute to charge the battery.
- Using solar power: Position the radio so that the solar panel receives direct sunlight. Ensure the solar panel is not covered. The radio does not need to be switched on for the solar panel to operate.

Listening to the Radio
- Straighten the antenna and turn on the radio.
- Select DAB/FM.
- DAB: Press ▲ or ▼ to display the station list and find the desired station. Press the Select button to listen to the selected station.
- FM: Press ▲ or ▼ to tune to a station, or press and hold ▲ or ▼ to scan FM frequencies.
- Press VOL+ or VOL- to adjust the sound level as needed.

Controls and Functions
- ① Power on/off button: Turns the radio on and off.
- ② Tuning up/down button: Used for station selection.
- ③ Select/Lock button: Press to confirm selection. Press and hold to disable all buttons; press and hold again to unlock.
- ④ Info/Menu button: Press and hold to access the menu system. Short press to cycle through displayed information.
- ⑤ Band button: Switches between FM and DAB radio modes.
- ⑥ Preset button:
- A) Presetting stations: Select 'MEM Store', use tuning buttons to select preset number 'Px', press Select to store.
- B) Recalling a preset station: Select 'MEM Browse', use tuning buttons to select desired station.
- ⑦ Volume up/down button: Adjusts the sound volume.
- ⑧ LED Flashlight button: Cycles through High, Low, Blinking, SOS, and Off modes. Can be held down to turn off.
- ⑨ Charging indicator: Shows charging status.
- ⑩ Low battery indicator: Indicates when the battery is low.
- ⑪ 3.5 mm headphone socket: For connecting headphones.
- ⑫ Carrying strap holder: For attaching the supplied carrying strap.
- ⑬ USB charging socket: For charging mobile phones or MP3 players.
- ⑭ Micro USB charging outlet: For charging the radio.
