Front & Rear Panel Descriptions
The Mackie MobileMix mixer features numerous controls and connections:
- Power Connector & Switch: Connect the supplied power cord here. The switch turns the mixer on/off.
- 48V Phantom Power Switch: Provides 48V for microphones connected via XLR. The +48V LED indicates when it's active.
- Combo Inputs: Accept XLR or 1/4" connectors for microphones, instruments, or line-level signals.
- Stereo Line Inputs: 1/4" connectors for balanced or unbalanced stereo line-level signals.
- 1/8" Inputs, Pad Switch, and Level Knob: For connecting a TRRS line-level signal from a phone or camera. The switch configures the source (line or phone/camera), and the knob controls the return level.
- Main Out L/R: Connect to amplifiers, powered speakers, or effects processors.
- Gain: Adjusts the mic/line input sensitivity.
- Line/Hi-Z Switch: Allows connecting a guitar directly to channels 1-2 without a DI box.
- Low Cut Switch: Reduces bass frequencies below 100 Hz.
- Equalization (EQ): Boosts or cuts specific frequencies to shape the sound.
- FX: Each channel has an FX level control; the FX Master adjusts the overall FX level.
- Channel Level: Adjusts the level of each channel in the main mix.
- Bluetooth On/Off: Press and hold to pair a Bluetooth device. Reconnect manually if disconnected due to electrostatic discharge.
- Mix 1 + 2 Jacks and Knobs: Outputs for additional headphones, recorders, or other devices. Mix knobs control output levels.
- Blend Knob: Mixes inputs 1-8 with the primary source (phone/camera) for output.
- Phones Jack and Knob: Connect stereo headphones; the knob controls headphone level.
- Main Mix: Adjusts the signal level sent to the main outputs.
- Main Meters: Indicate input and output levels.
- Battery Compartment: Located on the bottom panel; pull tabs to access.
Hookup Diagrams
The diagrams illustrate various connection scenarios:
Diagram 1 (Page 6): Shows the mixer connected to powered speakers, two guitars (one via channel 1, one via channel 2), and a smartphone via Bluetooth. The mixer's main outputs are connected to the speakers.
Diagram 2 (Page 7): Depicts a setup with two microphones connected to channels 1 and 2, a smartphone connected via Bluetooth for playback, and headphones connected to the headphone output. This setup is suitable for A/V production or streaming with multiple participants.
