Note: DO NOT attempt to use the MH40S to charge CR123/RCR123 batteries.

Technical Data

Measured in accordance with ANSI/PLATO FL 1-2019 standards using 2 x 21700 Li-ion battery (5,000mAh).

Note: Data may vary in real-world use due to different battery types or environmental conditions.

Charging Function

The MH40S features an intelligent charging system.

To charge: Insert batteries, tighten tail cap, pull out rubber cover, connect USB cable to external power supply and charging port. Press Tail Switch to begin charging.

• Charging Indicator: Flashes slowly during charging.
• Problem Detection: If issues arise (flashlight off, damaged batteries, wrong type), charging stops, indicator is off or flashes quickly.
• Full Charge: Indicator turns steadily on.
• Operation during charging: Connecting to power turns light off; disconnecting turns it on.
• Charging Time: Approx. 2 hours 45 minutes for two 21700 Li-ion batteries (5,000mAh) via 12V/1.5A QC adapter.

Note: Tail Switch must be on during charging. Do not charge other battery types/brands.

Operating Instructions

Battery Installation / Removal

Unscrew battery cap, insert/remove batteries, screw cap tight. Ensure positive end (+) towards the head. Incorrect insertion will prevent operation.

Warnings

• ⚠️ CAUTION: Possible dangerous radiation! Do not look directly into the light.
• Replace or recharge batteries when power is low to prevent damage.
• Remove batteries when storing for prolonged periods to prevent accidental activation or leakage.

Tactical Momentary Illumination

When light is off, half-press and hold the Tail Switch for momentary light. Release to turn off.

On / Off

On: When light is off, press Tail Switch until click. Off: When light is on, press Tail Switch until click. (Features memory function for last brightness/mode).

Brightness Levels

When light is on, short-press the Mode Button to cycle through: LOW → MID → HIGH → TURBO.

Special Modes (STROBE / BEACON / SOS)

When light is on, hold Mode Button to cycle through: STROBE → BEACON → SOS. Release to select. Short-press Mode Button to return to previous status, or press Tail Switch to turn off.

Wireless Remote Switch

The MH40S includes a Wireless Remote Switch for wireless control. Pairing is factory preset.

• Power: 1 x 3V CR1632 button cell (approx. 4,000 presses, 12 months standby).
• Range: Max 1m (39.37") with no obstacles.
• Battery Replacement: Remove battery cap with fingernail/key.

Pairing the Wireless Remote Switch

1. With batteries inserted and tail cap tightened, short-press Tail Switch while holding Mode Button for 5 seconds. Light flashes quickly to indicate pair pending status.

2. When in pair pending status, press both Button A and Button B on the Remote Switch until the flashlight becomes steadily on.

Notes:

• If flashlight turns on after pair pending status, it exits the status.
• Maintain distance within 1m during pairing.
• Changing flashlight batteries does not remove pairing.

Wireless Remote Switch Operation

Only when MH40S is turned on can it be controlled by the Remote Switch.

• On/Off: Full-press Button A.
• Brightness Adjustment: When light is on, half-press Button A to cycle: LOW → MID → HIGH → TURBO.
• Accessing TURBO Mode: When light is on, press and hold Button B. Release to return to previous status.
• Accessing Special Modes: When light is on, half-press and hold Button A to access STROBE. Then half-press Button A to cycle: STROBE → BEACON → SOS.

Note: When light is off, power indicator flashes every 5 seconds to show Remote Switch is paired. Remote disconnects after 2 hours of inactivity.

Power Indication

When light is off, press Tail Switch while holding Mode Button, then quickly release both. Power indicator flashes to show battery level:

• 3 flashes: ≥ 50%
• 2 flashes: < 50%
• 1 flash: < 25%

Flashlight turns on after indication stops.

Low Power Vibration Indication

When light is on and power is below 10%, the MH40S vibrates every 10 seconds.

ATR (Advanced Temperature Regulation)

Integrated ATR technology regulates output based on working conditions and ambient environment for optimal performance.

Changing Batteries

Replace batteries when output dims or flashlight becomes unresponsive due to low power.

Maintenance

Every 6 months, wipe threads with a clean cloth and apply a thin coating of silicon-based lubricant.

Warranty Service

All NITECORE products are warranted for quality. DOA/defective products can be exchanged within 15 days of purchase. Defective/malfunctioning products can be repaired free of charge within 60 months from purchase. A limited warranty applies beyond 60 months, covering labor and maintenance costs, but not accessories or replacement parts.

Warranty Nullified If:

• Product is broken down, reconstructed, or modified by unauthorized parties.
• Product is damaged due to improper use (e.g., reversed polarity).
• Product is damaged due to battery leakage.
