Installation
1. Determining the Mounting Location
Determine the mounting location. Position the light fixture heads in the general direction of the desired light coverage. Options include Wall Mount and Eave Mount.
2. Mounting the Light Fixture
Turn OFF the main power supply before installation to avoid electric shock. Secure the mounting bracket (B) to the junction box using the mounting screws (A) that best fit the junction box.
3. Wiring the Light Fixture
Connect the light fixture wires to the junction box wires (D) with the easy connector (C). Ensure wiring is in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Connect white wire to white wire and black wire to black wire.
4. Fixing the Light Fixture
Secure the light fixture to the mounting bracket using the mounting bolt (E). Cover the mounting bolt (E) with the rubber screw hole plug (F). Ensure all wires are inside the junction box before attaching the fixture backplate.
5. Caulking Around the Light Fixture
CAUTION: Failure to completely caulk around the light fixture's mounting plate could result in water seepage into the light fixture and/or junction box. Caulk around the light fixture and mounting surface with silicone sealant (not included).
Sensor Installation
1. Remove the back cover
Remove the back cover (F) from the sensor unit.
2. Unscrew and remove the battery cover screw
Unscrew the battery cover screw (G) and remove the battery cover.
3. Install batteries
Insert two AA batteries (not included) into the battery box. Replace the battery cover onto the sensor.
4. Mark and drill mounting holes
Use the back cover (F) to mark the position of screw holes on the mounting surface. Drill the wall to a depth of approximately 60 mm (2.36 inches) and fit the wall anchors (H). Then, fix the back cover (G) to the mounting surface with screws.
5. Mount the back cover
Mount the back cover (F) onto the wall.
6. Mount the sensor
Mount the sensor onto the back cover.
7. Connect the sensor and light fixture
The sensor is factory pre-set to connect to the included light fixture. Once batteries are installed and the light is powered, motion detection should function. To pair or reset: Hold the RESET button on the sensor; the indicator LED will flash 5 times, then flash every 1 second, entering distribution mode. Keep the sensor near the light fixture. Unconnected lights will turn ON for 3 minutes. After distribution, the light turns OFF. Press RESET again for 1 second to exit distribution mode and enter auto mode.
8. ON-TIME Feature
This feature allows selection of the time after which the light turns OFF when no motion is detected. The light remains ON as long as motion is detected.
9. TEST Function
The light will turn ON for approximately 5 seconds, regardless of day or night. The sensitivity setting determines the maximum distance the PIR sensor can be triggered by movement.
Resetting the Sensor
If the sensor becomes inactivated, hold the RESET button after connecting batteries. After the indicator light flashes 5 times, release and connect the light to 120V AC power. The newly connected light will initially be ON and turn OFF after successful connection. Press RESET again after the light turns OFF to finalize the network connection.
Care and Cleaning
To maintain the original appearance, clean only with clear water and a soft, damp cloth. Do not use paints, solvents, or other chemicals, as they may cause premature deterioration of the finish. This is not a defect and is not covered by warranty. Do not spray with a hose or power washer.
Troubleshooting Guide
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Light will not come ON. | 1. Light switch is OFF. 2. Fuse is blown or circuit breaker is OFF. 3. Daylight turn-off (photocell) is active. 4. Incorrect circuit wiring. 5. Motion sensor aimed incorrectly. 6. Motion sensor not connected. 7. Motion sensor batteries not charged or inserted incorrectly. | 1. Turn light switch ON. 2. Replace fuse or turn circuit breaker ON. 3. Recheck after dark. 4. Verify wiring. 5. Re-aim sensor. 6. Ensure sensor is connected and functioning. 7. Check battery charge and insertion. |
Light comes ON during the day. | 1. Motion sensor installed in a dark location. 2. "ON-TIME" dial set to "TEST". | 1. Light fixture operates normally. 2. Turn "ON-TIME" dial to 1, 5, or 20 minute setting. |
Light comes ON for no apparent reason. | 1. Motion sensor detecting small animals, traffic, or heat sources. 2. "Sensitivity SENS" dial set too high. 3. Light wired through a dimmer or timer. | 1. Light fixture operates normally. 2. Decrease "Sensitivity SENS" setting. 3. Replace dimmer/timer with standard ON/OFF switch. |
Light turns OFF too late in Dusk-to-Dawn setting. | 1. Sensor installed in a dark location. | 1. Relocate the sensor. |
Light stays ON continuously. | 1. Motion sensor in "TEST" mode. 2. Light wired through a dimmer or timer. 3. Light on circuit with motors, transformers, or fluorescent bulbs. | 1. Switch sensor to auto mode. 2. Replace dimmer/timer with standard ON/OFF switch. 3. Install on a circuit without motors, transformers, or fluorescent bulbs. |
