3. APPLICATION

Installation Guidelines

(1) Placement: The thermostat should be positioned higher than the water surface, and the heating rod must be fully submerged to work. Fish tanks must have wave pumps to ensure water circulation; otherwise, local heating may occur, and the heating rod's displayed temperature may not be accurate.

Diagrams illustrating correct and incorrect installation. The correct installation shows the heater fully submerged with the thermostat unit positioned above the water line. The incorrect installation shows the heating rod partially exposed above the water. A checkmark [✔️] is shown for correct installation, and a cross [❌] for incorrect installation.

Important: The heating rod must not be exposed to the water.

Operation and Controls

Diagram of the external temperature controller showing a heating indicator light, an LED temperature display, and a temperature control button labeled "SET". A separate diagram of the heating rod shows a heating indicator light: Red light means heating, and Green light means stop heating.
  1. The controller is not waterproof. Do not place it in water or a moist environment. If it accidentally falls into water, unplug the power supply immediately.
  2. This heating bar is equipped with a temperature control function. Do not use it with other temperature controllers simultaneously, as this may cause malfunction or misoperation.
  3. Press the [SET button] to adjust the temperature. The LED digital display will flash, indicating the setting state. Then, press the [SET button] again to adjust the display value to the required temperature. For example, to set the temperature to 90°F, press the [SET button] until "90" is shown on the display screen. Wait for the digit "90" to flash three times; then, it will show the current water temperature.
  4. The heating rod displays the current water temperature. To check the set temperature, press the [SET button]; the blinking number on the display is the set temperature value.
  5. When the heating rod is energized, the LED light turns red, indicating it is heating. When the set temperature is reached, the light turns green, and heating stops.

Power Socket Safety: The power socket should not be lower than the heater. A "drip loop" should be designed behind the plug to prevent water from traveling along the wire into the power socket, which could cause leakage and a short circuit accident.

4. SAFETY AND WARNINGS

General Precautions

  • ⚠️ CAUTION: Place the hygger heater fully submersible when it's on. Unplug it and wait for 15 minutes before changing the water or removing the heater. Please ensure enough water flow and water circulation in your fish tank when using the heater.
  • To avoid possible electric shock, do not immerse the switch in the water. If the switch falls into the water or becomes wet, do not touch it until you have unplugged it.
  • Read and follow this user manual strictly.
  • DANGER: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For certain situations, do not attempt to repair yourself. Instead, return the heater to an authorized service facility for maintenance or discard it.
  • If the heater shows any sign of abnormal working, unplug the power and remove the heater from the water after 15 minutes.
  • Carefully examine the heater after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts that are not intended to be wet.
  • Do not operate the heater if it has a damaged cord or plug, is malfunctioning, dropped, or damaged in any manner. The power cord of this heater cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the heater should be discarded.
  • To avoid the possibility of the heater plug getting wet, position the aquarium and its stand to one side of a wall-mounted outlet to prevent water from dripping onto the outlet or plug. A "drip loop" should be arranged for each cord. If the plug or outlet gets wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse to the circuit breaker that supplies power to the heater. Then, unplug and examine for the presence of water in the outlet. If unsure, consult a certified electrician.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the heater is used near children.
  • This heater is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction by a responsible person.
  • To avoid injury, do not contact moving or hot parts.
  • Always unplug the heater from the outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, maintenance, or placing hands in the water. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from the outlet; grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
  • Do not use the heater for other than its intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition and will void the warranty.
  • Do not install or store the heater where it will be exposed to extreme weather or temperatures below freezing.
  • Only use the heater in freshwater or saltwater; do not use it in other liquids.
  • Make sure the heater is securely installed before operating it.
  • Read and observe all important notices on the heater.
  • If an extension cord is necessary, use one with a proper rating (amperes or watts). A cord rated for fewer amperes or watts than the heater rating may overheat. Arrange the cord to prevent tripping or pulling.
  • The heater is intended FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
  • SAVE THIS USER MANUAL.

5. MAINTENANCE

  • Unplug or switch off all appliances in the aquarium before carrying out maintenance.
  • Do not use detergents or other chemical cleaners.
  • To clean the heater, unplug it first and then leave the heater in the tank for 15 minutes before removing it. Wash the heater in clean water.
  • When reinstalling the heater, select your desired location and position the heater below the water.
  • This appliance has no user-repairable parts.
  • For indoor use only; not suitable for bathrooms.
