System Setup
System setup can be performed using the front panel controls. Menus are displayed via the Quad View HDMI output. The hand-held IR remote can also access the menu system and select video inputs. Setup and control are also available via a Web Browser (Microsoft Edge is recommended for best compatibility).
Hint: The front panel OSD (on-screen display) method is a good starting point for initial setup and system checks, as it does not require an Ethernet connection.
Front Panel Operation
Connect the unit to a power source using the included power adapter. The unit will take approximately 45 seconds to become fully operational. Typically, the four input select buttons will illuminate a pale green, indicating they are using SDI sources. To use an HDMI source for Input 1 or Input 2, select the respective button, then press and hold it for about 3 seconds. The button will change to amber, indicating the HDMI source is active. Press and hold again to switch back to the SDI input.
Connect a Monitor to Quad View HDMI Output
When a monitor is connected to the Quad View HDMI output, a four-quadrant pattern will be visible. Press the front panel OSD button to display a menu with four main options. Use the Arrow buttons (labeled 1 & 2 on the front panel) to navigate up and down the list. Press the Enter button (labeled 3) to open a selected item. Continue using the arrow buttons and the Enter button to select and change items. An item is selected when its text appears yellow. Pressing the Enter button a second time will unselect the item (text returns to white). Once an item has been changed, pressing the Enter button (labeled 4) will return the text color to white, confirming the change. Press the Exit button to close the menu.
Menu Options
Multiview Configuration
This section configures the Quad View layout and video format/frame rate.
- MV OUT FRMT: Select the desired video format/frame rate. The output format is independent of the incoming video format and can range from HD to Full HD to UHD.
- MV Layout Mode: Select one of 5 available quad patterns.
- MV Border: Turn the border On or Off for a cleaner display.
- MV Label: Turn quadrant labels On or Off.
- Tally Border: Turn on to highlight the border of the currently selected input.
- Tally Color: Select the border color: Red, Green, or Yellow.
- Label Pos In: Choose the location for each label within its quadrant. Labels can be up to 15 characters long and can be manually entered via Web Browser or changed dynamically via Ethernet or RS232 automation.
Program Out Configuration
This section configures the Program video format and audio follow behavior.
- PGM OUT FRMT: Select the desired video format/frame rate. The output format is independent of the incoming video format and can range from HD to Full HD to UHD.
- Audio Mute: Select whether audio should be embedded into the Program video channel. Set to ON to silence audio.
- Audio Select: Choose the audio source.
- Follow PGM: Program audio will follow the selected video source.
- STEREO In: Program audio will come from the front panel Stereo In jack.
- Input 1-4: Program audio will come from one of the video inputs, even when that video is not the selected Program video.
System Configuration
Waveform
The Waveform function is currently experimental. When enabled (ON), it displays a Waveform overlay on the Program video output, which can be helpful for troubleshooting camera issues. Display options include:
- YCbCrV: Displays Luma and Chroma components.
- GBRV: Displays Chroma primaries.
- HIST: Displays a histogram graph.
- Off: Waveform overlay is not displayed.
Ethernet Configuration
Configure Network Parameters, including IP addressing.
IP Mode: Select DHCP (automatic) or Fixed IP (static) IP addressing.
Use the arrow buttons to change the IP address. Note: This portion of the firmware may not be complete. Three methods are available to set an IP Address:
- Method 1 (DHCP to Fixed): Change IP Mode to DHCP to let a network assign an IP address. If acceptable, switch to Fixed IP mode, scroll to Save, press Enter, select YES, press Enter again. The address will remain Fixed (Static). Power cycle the unit.
- Method 2 (DHCP to Web Browser): Change IP Mode to DHCP. Use the assigned address to log in via a Web Browser and follow the steps in the "Web Browser Operation" section to set a desired IP address. Ethernet addressing can be found on the bottom of the UTILITES page.
- Method 3 (Default IP): Scroll to Default, press Enter, select YES, press Enter again. The unit will restart with a new Static IP address of 192.168.68.110. Connect a computer directly to the switcher and configure its Ethernet port to a similar address (e.g., 192.168.68.115). Use a browser to access the switcher via 192.168.68.110. Follow the "Web Browser Operation" section. Ethernet addressing can be found on the bottom of the UTILITES page.
Note: After changing the IP address, you will need to use the new address to log back in via the browser.
System Settings
- Version: Displays the current firmware version.
- Factory: Resets the unit to default menu settings (does not change the IP address).
Web Browser Operation
Log-in Page
The default login credentials are Username: Admin, Password: 12345. Once logged in, the Outputs page will appear. Tabs at the top allow navigation to Outputs, Labels, and Utilities pages.
Outputs Page
All functions on this page have immediate effect.
The top row displays patterns for the Quad Video Output. Clicking a pattern changes the output. The middle row controls switcher inputs and input types (HDMI, SDI). Configuring Input 1 or 2 between SDI and HDMI takes a few seconds; switching between sources is then very quick.
To enable audio on the Program Video Output, use the PGM Audio Mode pulldown list to select the source:
- Follow PGM: Uses audio from each video source as it is selected.
- Input 1-4: Uses audio from a single video source and retains that audio even when the video source changes.
- Stereo In: Uses analog audio from the front panel Stereo In connector.
The PGM Audio Mute button silences all audio when set to ON.
The lower portion of the page controls video format and frame rate for the Quad Output (Multiview) and the PGM (main program output). Selecting a new format from the pulldown list will cause the switcher to restart immediately and return to operation in about 45 seconds.
Labels Page
This page controls labels and borders for the Quad Output. Functions take immediate effect, except for changing label text, which requires clicking the Apply button. To create a clean Quad output, set Border and Label switches to OFF.
When Tally Border is ON, one quadrant will have a colored border indicating the active source. Color options are Red, Green, or Yellow. The colored border moves to the corresponding quadrant when a different input is selected.
Each quadrant offers six positions for label text. Use the Label Position pulldowns to select the desired location; the position changes immediately upon selection.
Utilities Page
The top of the Utilities page shows the current firmware version. A red Factory Reset button resets all menus to default options, including Quad labels, positions, and borders, but does not change the IP address, allowing web browser control to be maintained.
The middle section allows changing the Log-in Username and Password (case-sensitive).
The bottom section manages Ethernet IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway addresses. Select Static, type the new address, and click Apply. The switcher will restart with the new address. Note that after changing the IP address, the web browser will no longer be able to make changes using the old address.
