Controls
- 1 POWER / BAND button: Turns the radio on/off and selects the band (AM/FM).
- 2 LCD display: Shows selected band, frequency, memory presets, and status indicators.
- 3 DBB / ● STEP button: Activates/deactivates Dynamic Bass Boost (DBB) and is used for step setting.
- 4 Mono / Stereo button / Time setting button: Switches between Stereo and Mono reception for FM, and is used for setting the clock time.
- 5 Tuning up / down button: Used for manual tuning, scanning stations, and adjusting time/settings.
- 6 Volume button: Adjusts the audio volume level.
- 7 Lock switch: Prevents accidental operation of buttons.
- 8 Battery compartment: Located on the back, holds two AAA batteries.
- 9 Strap holder: For attaching a carrying strap.
- 10 Earphone jack: 3.5mm stereo jack for headphones.
- 11 Memory button: Used to store and recall preset stations (1-5).
Display Indicators
- A Selected band: Indicates the current band (AM or FM).
- B Battery power indicator: Shows the remaining battery level.
- C Signal level indicator: Displays the strength of the received signal.
- D FM stereo indicator: Appears when a stereo FM signal is received.
- E 90minutes auto shut off: Indicates the auto shut-off feature is active.
- F Memory presets: Shows the number of the selected preset station.
- G Key lock function: Appears when the key lock is activated (?).
- H DBB on: Indicates that Dynamic Bass Boost is active.
- I Frequency: Displays the current radio frequency.
Battery Installation
The battery cover is located on the back of the unit. Slide the cover downwards to access the battery compartment. Insert two AAA (UM-4) batteries, ensuring correct polarity according to the diagram. Replace the cover.
Note:
- The battery power can be monitored via the battery icon on the LCD display. A low battery indicator will flash with an "E" on the display when power is critically low, and the radio will shut off.
- Replace batteries within 3 minutes to prevent loss of memory presets.
Operating Instructions
Time Setting
Press and hold the Time setting button for 2 seconds. The hours will flash. Use the Tuning up/down button to select the desired hour, then press the Time setting button to confirm. The minutes will then flash. Follow the same steps to set the minutes.
Antenna / Earphone
Insert earphones into the earphone jack. The earphone cord acts as an antenna for FM reception and should be extended for best sensitivity. An internal ferrite bar antenna is used for AM reception; rotate the radio for maximum signal strength.
Volume Control
Use the volume control buttons to adjust the audio level. The display will show the changes.
Tuning the Radio
AM Band
- Frequency: 522-1710 kHz (9kHz step) / 520-1710 kHz (10kHz step)
- Antenna: Internal / Rotate radio for best reception.
FM Band
- Frequency: 87.50-108 MHz
- Antenna: External / Ensure earphones are plugged into the earphone jack.
90-Minute Auto Shut-off Device
To save battery power, the radio automatically shuts off after 90 minutes of operation. The LCD display indicates this feature. For continuous listening, press and hold the POWER / BAND button for more than 2 seconds to turn the radio back on.
Scan Tuning
Turn on the radio and select the desired band using the POWER / BAND button. Press and hold the Tuning up/down button for over half a second, then release to start scanning. The radio will stop automatically when a station is found.
Manual Tuning
Turn on the radio and select the desired band using the POWER / BAND button. Press the Tuning up/down button repeatedly until the desired station is tuned.
Memory Tuning (Station Preset)
Turn on the radio by pressing and holding the POWER / BAND button. Select the desired band. Tune to the desired station using Scan or Manual tuning. When the station is found, press and hold a Memory button (1-5) for over 2 seconds until the 'M x' display stops flashing and a beep is heard. Up to 5 stations can be stored per band (AM, FMI, FMII). Existing presets can be overwritten.
Recall Memory Stations
Turn on the radio, select the desired band, then press and release a Memory station button. The LCD display will show the preset number and frequency.
Stereo / Mono Switch
The radio receives FM stereo broadcasts. For weak FM stations, press the MO. / ST. button to switch to Mono reception, which may improve sound quality. The Stereo icon on the LCD display will disappear.
DBB (Dynamic Bass Boost)
Press the DBB / ● STEP button to activate the Deep Bass Boost function for stronger bass sound. The DBB symbol will appear on the display. Press again to cancel DBB. It is suggested to activate DBB when using earphones.
Software Version
The software version cannot be altered and is for reference only. To view it, press and hold the DBB / ● STEP button while the radio is powered off. The screen will show the software version (e.g., A03).
FM / AM Step Setting
To adjust the tuning step:
- Press and hold the DBB / ● STEP button when the radio is off to display the software version.
- Continue holding DBB / ● STEP to enter FM/AM step setting.
- The screen will show the FM tuning step (e.g., FM1 50 or 100). Use the Tuning up/down button to select 50kHz or 100kHz, then press the Time setting button to confirm.
- After FM tuning step setting, the screen will show the AM tuning step (e.g., 9 or 10). Use the Tuning up/down button to select 9kHz or 10kHz, then press the Time setting button to confirm.
Key Lock Function
The key lock function prevents unintentional operation. The lock switch is on the rear of the radio. When set to LOCK, all buttons are disabled and a key lock icon (?) appears on the screen. Switch the button to the 'off' position to disable the key lock.
Reset the Radio
If the radio malfunctions or display digits are missing/incomplete, perform a system reset while the unit is powered off:
- Ensure the radio is switched off.
- Press and hold the Mono / Stereo button, then immediately press and hold the Power button. Keep both buttons pressed until all icons appear on the display. This resets all configuration settings, erases preset stations, and resets the clock.
