OBJECTIVE

Do your best to match the answer of exactly one other player to finish the Word Cues, and gain points:

• If exactly two players write the same word, each of them earns 3 points.
• If more than two players write the same word, each of them earns 1 point.
• All other players get 0 points.

Once a player has reached 25 points, they win!

HOW TO PLAY

Step 1

Start by laying out the Score Board and let every player choose a Slate. Each player then writes their name on the score board in the color bar matching their slate color. Pick which person should act as Selector first.

Step 2

The Selector selects a Word Cue card from the draw side of the box, reads it aloud, and places it face-up on the table.

Step 3

In the Answer phase, each player has to try and predict what answer only one other player would choose, and write down that word as well. Once everyone has written down an answer, everyone reveals their word one-by-one, starting with the person to the Selector's left.

HOW TO PLAY (CONTINUED)

Step 4

Tally up the scores accordingly – 3 points for pairs of matching words, 1 point for words that more than two people match, and 0 points for any unmatched word – and mark the player score track on the Score Board.

Step 5

Put the Word Cue card in the back of the cardbox (discard side) and pass the box to the person to the left of the Selector – they're the new Selector, and now it's their job to pick the next card. Continue picking Word Cue cards and rotating Selectors until someone reaches 25 points. Once a player has reached 25 points, they win!

HOW TO FILL IN THE BLANKS

There are just a few small guidelines for what counts as acceptable answers for Word Cues:

• Single-letter additions are no good!
• SEA ✔️ "SEAWEED"
• SEA ❌ "SEAT"

• Adding just a syllable is okay if you can still hear the root word.
• PASS ✔️ "TRESPASS"

• It's okay to have either a compound word or a two-word phrase; both are acceptable.
• DAY ✔️ "DAYLIGHT"
• DAY ✔️ "DAY TRIP"

• Proper nouns are acceptable, as long as you still write just one word.
• SUPER ✔️ "SUPERMAN"
• MOUSE ✔️ "MICKEY MOUSE"

HINTS AND TIPS

• Remember to pack the Dry-Erase Slates away clean, to prevent staining or smudging anything!
• Don't be afraid to pick fitting answers that are weird or silly – there's always a chance someone might be thinking exactly the same thing as you!
• If you're in the middle of a marathon session and run out of Word Cue cards, don't fret! Just flip the box around and draw from the discard side!
• Have fun trying out some neat “House Rules” variations! This can be as easy as how you pick your first Selector – by age, location at the gaming table, playing a game of rock, paper, scissors, etc. – or as tricky as changing the size of words allowed for matching, amount of talking or length of time allowed in the Answer phase, or “tagging” another player to try and match with by saying their name to score a bonus point. Try out some variations and see how they change up the game!
• Don't be flustered if you can't seem to match another player's choices. Just relax, have fun with the Word Cues, and scribble away!
