Installation Overview

Figure 1 illustrates the installation of the Shelly LoRa Add-on onto a Shelly Gen3 or Gen4 host device. The key components are:

  • A: Brackets
  • B: Hooks
  • C: Header pins
  • D: Header connector
  • E: Antenna

Installation involves physically attaching the add-on to the host device and then configuring it via the host device's web interface. Always ensure power is disconnected before installation.

  • Always turn off circuit breakers before attaching or detaching the add-on if the host device is powered. Ensure no voltage is present at the host device terminals.
  • Do not remove the antenna tip.

Cautions (ℹ️):

  • Connect only as shown in instructions; other methods may cause damage or injury.
  • Connect only to compliant power grids and appliances. Short circuits can cause fire, damage, or shock.
  • Do not use if damaged or defective.
  • Intended for indoor or weather-sealed environments only.
  • Keep away from dirt and moisture.
  • Handle header pins (C) carefully to avoid bending when inserting into the connector (D). Ensure brackets (A) lock onto hooks (B).

Product Description

The Shelly LoRa Add-on provides reliable, long-range communication (up to 5 km) for Shelly Gen3 and Gen4 devices. It enhances connectivity for applications like city infrastructure automation, remote facility management, and precision agriculture. It supports custom scripts and operates using LoRa technology and Shelly's protocol.

The add-on supports EU868, US915, and AU915-928 frequency bands, with potential firmware updates required for specific band activation.

Configuration, control, and monitoring are managed via the host device's web interface. Shelly Europe Ltd. provides free firmware updates via the host's web interface; users are responsible for installing them.

Installation Instructions

For devices already connected to power:

  1. Turn off circuit breakers and verify no voltage at host device terminals.
  2. Attach the add-on to the Shelly host device, ensuring brackets (A) lock onto hooks (B).
  3. Access the host device's web interface to enable and configure the Shelly LoRa Add-on.

For devices NOT yet connected to power:

  1. Turn off circuit breakers.
