1. Getting Started

The BG710 series camera is a digital infrared surveillance camera. It features a 1.44" color LCD display and uses 2x 18650 batteries (button top, length: 67-69mm). The USB port can connect to a solar panel to charge the 18650 battery.

2. Camera Operations

2.1 Batteries / Power Supply

Battery: The camera is powered by 2x 18650 batteries (button top, 67-69mm length).

External power supply: The device can also be powered or charged via an external USB power supply adapter (5V/2A) or a solar panel (external power supply not included).

2.2 TF Card Information

The camera uses a TF card. Class 10 TF cards or better are recommended for fast transfer speeds and durability. The camera supports up to a 32GB TF card and has no built-in internal memory. The TF card must be inserted before turning on the camera. Do not remove the TF card while the camera is on, as this may damage internal components. If experiencing issues, reformat the TF card using the camera's main settings.

2.3 SIM Card Information

This feature is available on communication function models. A standard SIM card is required. Nano or micro SIM cards may need an adapter. The camera connects to the cellular network via SIM card.

Supported Wireless Carrier Bands:

The camera functions without a SIM card, but the SIM card is necessary for wireless/cellular messaging capabilities.

2.4 Camera Modes

Modes are accessed by pressing the OK button.

2.5 Manage Images and/or Videos

In TEST/SETUP mode, press the POWER button to view images/videos. Use Up/Down buttons to cycle through them. Videos cannot be viewed directly on the camera.

2.6 Sending via MMS/GPRS/Molnus/FTP

This function is available on communication models. Images can be sent to a wireless device, email, or Molnus based on Send Mode settings.

  1. Insert TF and SIM cards before powering on.
  2. Turn on the camera in TEST/SETUP mode. Ensure SIM card is recognized and signal is adequate. (A checkmark indicates recognition, an 'X' indicates issues).
  3. Select send mode and enter parameters (Molnus, MMS, Email, or FTP). Videos are sent in less than 20M.
  4. Press "Power" to view photos.
  5. Select the picture to send.
  6. Press MENU for the Send To option.
  7. Press OK to send the picture via the selected method.

2.7 Password Setup

For encryption, a four-digit password can be set. This function is off by default.

  1. Press Up/Down to adjust numbers and Left/Right to change the password.
  2. Enter the same password twice to confirm.
  3. The password will be required on the next boot.

If the password is forgotten, contact support.

3. Camera Setup Settings & Display

3.1 Settings Interface & Display

Turn the camera on to activate the display screen for settings adjustments.

3.2 Wireless Model Setup

This section applies only to communication models.

3.2.1 Mobile Communication

The camera can receive commands via SMS, Molnus, and mobile apps (Apple/Android) when connected to a wireless carrier.

To enable SMS functionality via the mobile app:

3.2.2 Setup Software of PC

Download the camera setup application (BMC_config.zip) from www.bolymedia.com/index/Support. Connect the camera to a computer via USB cable, open the software, and select the camera model.

The PC software allows configuration of country, operator, WAP/Internet parameters, and customer information (admin number, receive emails, phone numbers). Settings are saved to a .txt file in the GSM folder of the TF card, which must be loaded into the camera's GSM folder.

If your country or SIM provider is not listed, select "Others" and consult your provider for specific MMS URL, APN, Port, IP, Account, and Password details, as well as GPRS APN, Account, and Password. For email, your email service provider can supply the SMTP server and port settings.

3.2.3 Setup for Mobile applications

Basic camera settings can be adjusted via mobile applications for Android and Apple devices. Charges may apply for text messages.

BG Tools Usage Instructions for Android App:

The Android app simplifies camera communication without needing SMS edits.

  1. Open the BG Tools app and click the '+' icon to add a new device.
  2. Input camera model, SIM card number, and select the camera model, then click "Add".
  3. Click "send", choose the country and provider matching your SIM card, then "Check WAP/Internet Parameters". The "User name and User Password" are your MMS name and password.
  4. In the Select Mail Server, choose Boly Email or Other Email service. Select "my device" to add/delete a device.
  5. Select "Setting" to configure user parameters or set to default.
  6. Select "Get Photos" to retrieve photos from the camera. Images can be sent via Cellphone (MMS) or Email (GPRS).

Set password: A new password can be obtained if forgotten.

3.3 Cloud Service - Molnus

Molnus is a cloud service for transferring and storing images taken by the cameras. It requires batteries, a SIM card with internet access, the phone number, and the APN name for the SIM card.

The APN name is provided by the SIM card operator. Check the operator's homepage if not provided in documentation.

IMEI and Control Code are found on the camera. Start the camera in SETUP mode, check the operator's name on the display, and then check the Version.

Steps to use Molnus:

  1. Register your Molnus account.
  2. Log in to your Molnus account and go to the "My Cameras" page.
  3. Power on the camera, enter SETUP Mode, and set Send mode to "Molnus".
  4. Press the "Register camera" button to register your camera in Molnus.
  5. Wait approximately 5 minutes for registration. The camera should then be able to upload images to Molnus.

Test the function by moving in front of the camera; images should appear in the Molnus gallery within seconds to a minute.

3.4 Camera Setup Options

Press OK to power on the camera, then MENU to enter the settings menu. Use Up/Down keys to navigate options. Press OK to save settings and MENU to exit.

Note: Settings are saved only after pressing OK.

Main Options Descriptions
Language Language options: English, Czech, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Finnish, Norsk, Dansk, Italian, Russian. Default: English.
Camera Mode Three modes: Photo, Video, Picture + Video (disables burst function). Default: Photo.
Set Clock Set date and time. Format: day/month/year, hour:minute:second.
Photo Size Choose image size: 24MP, 18 MP, 12 MP, 5 MP. Default: 5 MP.
Photo Burst Number of photos per trigger: 1, 2, or 3. If Pic+Video is selected, burst is 1 photo. Default: 1 Photo.
Video Size Choose video size: VGA, 720P, 1080P. Default: VGA.
Video Length Video recording duration: 5-60 seconds (in 5-second increments). Default: 10 seconds.
Time Lapse Capture images/videos at preset intervals, regardless of motion. If PIR Trigger/Sensitivity and Time Lapse are OFF, no photos/videos are captured. Default: Off.
PIR Trigger/Sensitivity Adjusts PIR sensor sensitivity: High, Normal, Low, Off. Recommended: HIGH for low interference/warm climates; LOW for high interference. Sensitivity is affected by temperature. Default: Normal.
PIR Interval Sets the duration the PIR sensor is disabled after triggering (0 seconds to 1 hour). Default: 10 seconds.
Work Day Choose days of the week for camera operation (Hunting Mode only). Default: All.
Work Hour Defines active time: 00:00 to 23:59. If Off, camera works at all times. If ON, works according to preset times. Default: Off.
Camera Position Set A-Z indicator for distinguishing photos from multiple cameras. Default: Off.
Recycle Storage In hunting mode, oldest images/videos are overwritten by new ones if the TF card is full. Disabled in SETUP mode. Default: Off.
Send To Send images to phone or email: MMS (via WAP), Email (via SMTP), Molnus (via network), FTP (via network). Default: Molnus.
Send Mode Options: Daily (ON mode only, summarized info + last picture), Photo Mode (summarized info + last photo), Video Mode (summarized info + last video), Pic+Video Mode (summarized info + last photo/video), Instant (ON mode only, instant message after capture), OFF (disables communication).
SMS Control Enables mobile communication. When ON, camera responds to SMS commands. Default: Off.
SIM Set Auto: Camera automatically recognizes carrier and configures parameters. Manual: Input parameters manually. Default: Auto. (Auto mode may increase boot time).
Select network Lock network to 2G, 3G, or 4G. Default: Auto.
Attachment Size Sets picture size for phone/email: Low (compressed), Normal (slightly compressed), High (original). Default: Low.
Password Set Set a four-digit password for camera startup. Default: Off.
Time Stamp Prints time and logo on video. Default: ON.
Format SD Deletes all information on the TF card. Back up data first.
Default Settings Restores all settings to default values.

4. Troubleshooting

  1. The display screen is suddenly black.

    The camera might be in "Hunting mode." Press MENU to wake it. If no response, check battery power and placement. Press and hold OK/POWER until the display turns on.

  2. Why my phone can't receive MMS?

    MMS/GPRS function requires sufficient balance and data exchange enabled on both the camera's and phone's SIM cards.

5. PIR Detection Zone

This camera features a new patented PIR with a detection angle (α) smaller than the field of view (FOV) angle (β). This design reduces empty picture rates and captures more moving objects.
