Your comprehensive guide to operating and maintaining your SANYO DC-F210 Mini Component System.

PRECAUTIONS

General Safety:

Laser Safety (Applicable to CD Player):

CAUTION: INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION WHEN OPEN AND INTERLOCKS DEFEATED. AVOID EXPOSURE TO BEAM.

This product contains a low power laser device. To ensure continued safety, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified in the operating instructions may result in hazardous radiation exposure. The compact disc player should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified personnel.

Before Use

Remove the shipping screw from the rear of the unit. This screw secures the CD mechanism during shipment and should be retained for future use. Reinstall it before transportation.

For UK Users:

Before Transportation

  1. Turn on the power and remove all discs from the unit.
  2. Turn the power off. The STANDBY indicator lights.
  3. Unplug the mains lead from the AC outlet.
  4. Reinstall the shipping screw as shown in the figure (refer to the 'Before Use' section).

CONNECTIONS

Important Note: Do not connect the mains lead to an AC outlet until all other connections have been made. When first connected, the display enters demonstration mode; turn power on to cancel.

Speakers

Connect the left speaker lead connector to the 'L' SPEAKERS socket and the right speaker lead connector to the 'R' socket. If insertion is difficult, try turning the connector over.

Aerials

AM Loop Aerial: Assemble the loop aerial by unwinding the wires and connecting them to the AM LOOP ANT. terminals. Position the aerial for best AM (MW/LW) reception, or attach it to a wall or other surface. To minimize noise, keep aerial leads away from speakers, mains, and other leads.

FM Aerial (For UK/AU): The FM indoor aerial is sufficient for most local FM broadcasts. Connect it to the FM 75 ohm terminal. Extend the aerial wire as straight as possible and secure it for minimal distortion and noise. In fringe areas or where reception is poor, connect an external FM aerial (not supplied) that accepts 75-ohm coaxial cable. Consult your dealer.

Video Equipment

Connect audio leads (not supplied) from the audio output sockets of video equipment to the VIDEO IN sockets.

Headphones

Connect stereo headphones (not supplied) to the PHONES socket for monitoring or private listening. Speakers are automatically disconnected when headphones are connected.

System Power State: The system is not completely disconnected from the mains when the ⑁/ON button on the remote control is set to the ⑁ (standby) position.

What is SRS®?

SRS® (Sound Retrieval System) replaces stereo as the method of accurately reproducing sound and is rapidly becoming the standard for 3-D audio technology. It creates a three-dimensional sound image from any audio source with only two conventional stereo speakers. Whether the signal is stereo or surround sound encoded, SRS® expands the material and immerses the listener in three-dimensional sound.

SRS® differs from stereo and traditional sound expansion techniques because it is based on the human hearing system. It retrieves spatial information from recordings and restores the original three-dimensional sound field. As a result, the reproduced sound is much closer to a live performance. Like live performances, SRS® has no critical listening position (sweet spot). Listeners can move around the room and continue to be immersed in full three-dimensional sound.

Stereo Sound: Depicted as two speakers with sound waves emanating directly forward.

SRS Sound: Depicted as two speakers with sound waves emanating outwards in a wider, more encompassing pattern, indicating a broader soundstage.

SRS, the SRS symbol "®" and "Sound Retrieval System" are registered trademarks of SRS Labs, Inc. in the U.S. and selected countries. SRS (Sound Retrieval System) technology is manufactured under license from SRS Labs, Inc. and protected by USA patents 4,748,669 and 4,841,572 and additional patents worldwide.

To Activate SRS®: Press the SRS SOUND button. The SRS SOUND indicator lights. SRS will not activate with monaural sources.
