The Recruiter's Guide to Northern California
A guide to Tesla's presence and opportunities in Northern California.
About Tesla
Tesla's mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. Tesla designs, manufactures, sells, and services the world's best electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and solar technology, providing customers the opportunity to generate, store and consume energy to achieve sustainability.
Tesla vehicles are manufactured at its factories in Fremont, California, and Shanghai, China. Very soon, Tesla will also produce vehicles in Austin, Texas, and Berlin, Germany. To achieve our goal of having the safest factories in the world, Tesla is taking a proactive approach to safety, requiring production employees to participate in a multi-day training program before ever setting foot on the factory floor. From there, Tesla continues to provide on-the-job training and track performance daily, so that improvements can be made quickly. The result is that Tesla's safety rate continues to improve while production ramps.
Tesla also manufactures a unique set of energy solutions: Megapack, Powerwall, Powerpack, and Solar Roof products. This enables homeowners, businesses, and utilities to manage renewable energy generation and storage for future consumption. Supporting Tesla's automotive and energy products is Gigafactory 1 – a facility designed to significantly reduce battery cell costs. By bringing cell production in-house, Tesla manufactures batteries at the volumes required to meet production goals while creating thousands of jobs.
And this is just the beginning. With Tesla building its most affordable car yet, Tesla continues to make products accessible and affordable to more and more people, ultimately accelerating the advent of clean transport and clean energy production. Electric cars, batteries, and renewable energy generation and storage already exist independently, but when combined, they become even more powerful – that's the future we want.

Lathrop Facilities
The Lathrop campus hosts several key Tesla operations:
Tesla Energy Manufacturing
Our newest factory will be home to the Megapack product line, transforming the way we power the grid, delivering giga scale capacity to our customers. With the new edition in Lathrop, we're excited to continue the world's transition to sustainable energy.
Castings & CNC Manufacturing
This factory began operations in 2014 as part of the expansion for the Model X launch. This facility is comprised of two shops: the Casting Shop with seven high-pressure die casting machines and the CNC Shop, containing more than 50 state-of-the-art CNC machines. The parts manufactured at this location are delivered to the Fremont factory for the assembly of Model S, X, 3, and Y.
Vehicle Logistics Center
The Vehicle Logistics Center is a focal point for vehicle distribution to various sales centers in the western United States. With its unique access to 3 major freeways, it's strategically placed for quick delivery to our customers. This is a 24/7 operation with continuous vehicle flow year-round.
Global Service Manufacturing
Global Service Manufacturing is a growing division that operates out of two buildings side by side in Lathrop. Established in 2017, this facility houses vehicle and energy Tesla warranty operations and past model production for the entire service supply chain network. Both buildings are multifunctional and are home to employees that are leading and supporting safety, quality, production, supply chain, program management, engineering, and warehouse/logistics.
Global Parts Distribution Center
The largest campus building in Lathrop is the Global Parts Distribution Center. This facility opened in 2019 and contains past and present model service parts for every Tesla vehicle ever built, and ships to the Tesla Service Centers and Regional Distribution Centers worldwide.
