Reagent for the photometric determination of Nitrite in surface, ground, and drinking water.
Measuring Range
- 0.01–0.30 mg/L NO₂-N (16 mm OD)
- 0.005–0.300 mg/L NO₂-N (24 mm OD)
- 0.03–1.00 mg/L NO₂ (16 mm OD)
- 0.015–1.000 mg/L NO₂ (24 mm OD)
Method
Photometric determination of nitrite ions via diazotation.

Procedure
Requisite accessories: 2 test tubes 16 mm OD (REF 91680) or 2 test tubes 24 mm OD (REF 936101)

Rinse test tube several times with sample. (pH value of sample must be between pH 2 and 11)
Visual Description: Diagram 1 shows liquid being poured from one test tube into another, followed by a swirling motion.

Blank (optional):
Fill one test tube with 5 mL of sample.

Clean test tube.

Place test tube in photometer as blank value and adjust for zero.

Sample:
Add 5 mL of the sample in a further test tube.

Add the contents of one Powder Pillow Nitrite.

Close test tube and shake well.

Clean test tube.

Wait for 20 min.

Measurement
See manual for all MACHEREY-NAGEL photometers. After use, rinse out test tubes thoroughly and seal them. Remains of Powder can be dissolved in weakly acidic media. The reagent is also suitable for the analysis of seawater.
Interferences
The temperature of the water sample should be between 20 °C and 30 °C.
