Procedure

Requisite accessories: 2 test tubes 16 mm OD (REF 91680) or 2 test tubes 24 mm OD (REF 936101)

  1. Rinse test tube several times with sample. (pH value of sample must be between pH 2 and 11)

Visual Description: Diagram 1 shows liquid being poured from one test tube into another, followed by a swirling motion.

  2. Blank (optional):

Fill one test tube with 5 mL of sample.

Visual Description: Diagram 2 shows a test tube being filled with 5 mL of liquid, with a beaker indicating the pH range of 2-11.

  3. Clean test tube.

Visual Description: Diagram 3 shows a hand holding a test tube.

  4. Place test tube in photometer as blank value and adjust for zero.

Visual Description: Diagram 4 shows a test tube containing liquid, marked with '0', with an arrow indicating placement into a device (photometer).

  5. Sample:

Add 5 mL of the sample in a further test tube.

  9. Wait for 20 min.

Visual Description: Diagram 9 shows a clock face with the time indicated as 20 minutes.

  10. Measure.

Visual Description: Diagram 10 shows a test tube containing liquid, marked with 'M', with an arrow indicating placement for measurement.

Measurement

See manual for all MACHEREY-NAGEL photometers. After use, rinse out test tubes thoroughly and seal them. Remains of Powder can be dissolved in weakly acidic media. The reagent is also suitable for the analysis of seawater.

Interferences

The temperature of the water sample should be between 20 °C and 30 °C.

Disposal of Samples

Information regarding disposal can be found in the safety data sheet. You can download the SDS from www.mn-net.com/SDS.
