Introduction to the Sprint 2 Expert
The WAGNER Sprint 2 Expert is a new addition to the Sprint 2 product family, designed to provide advanced manual powder coating capabilities for specialized requirements. It features intelligent assistance functions, including the WAGNER Wizard and DSO (Digital Surface Optimizer), alongside robust process documentation options, enabling users of all experience levels to achieve expert results.
Launched in spring 2024, the Sprint 2 manual system represented a new generation of powder coating technology. The Sprint 2 Expert builds upon this foundation, offering enhanced features for greater convenience in manual coating tasks compared to the standard Sprint 2 model.
Effortless Recipe Management with the WACON Control Unit
All coating parameters are managed through the WACON Sprint 2 Expert control unit, equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen. The intuitive interface provides access to recipe management, error history, operating hours, maintenance counters, and user management.
The WAGNER Wizard: Your Intelligent Coating Assistant
A key highlight is the WAGNER Wizard, an intelligent assistant that helps even inexperienced users select the optimal recipe for any coating job. Through a simple 5-step process – selecting workpiece geometry, size, coating structure, desired coating thickness, and powder type – the Wizard determines the ideal recipe. It also offers recommendations for suitable accessories, such as nozzle type and extension, and the required gun distance.
Digital Surface Optimizer (DSO)
The DSO assistance function, also found in the Sprint 2, helps reduce overcharge effects like orange peel or edge build-up with a single touch. This is particularly beneficial for decorative coatings on complex components or when working with demanding powder types.
Advanced Injector and Quick Cleaning Features
The Sprint 2 Expert incorporates the new Quick-Link injector. Optimized nozzle geometries reduce air requirements and hose diameter, resulting in a softer powder cloud at lower speeds. This broadens its application range, from fine decorative coatings on small parts to corrosion protection for large components.
The injector also streamlines cleaning and color changes. Powder and air hoses detach easily with the Quick-Link coupling. An integrated scraper ring on the swivel arm removes excess powder from the lance. For even faster color changes (under 30 seconds), an optional special cleaning set with automated internal cleaning of the suction lance is available.
Streamlined Process Documentation
A powder scale integrated beneath the base plate precisely monitors powder consumption. This scale records the weight in the powder box and automatically sets measuring points, which are logged along with the active user, selected recipe, and coating period. This data can be bundled and evaluated for process analysis.
All process data can be downloaded from the control unit via USB for further processing. Optional interfaces allow connection to higher-level systems, robot technology, or cloud solutions like the COATIFY information and management platform.
Versatile Solutions for Every Application
The multifunctional head module of the Sprint 2 Expert features a standardized perforated plate structure, providing dust-protected storage and hanging options for tools and accessories, keeping the workspace organized and efficient. The manual system can be upgraded to a double system with two guns, and the head module accommodates a second control unit.
Available Configurations
The Sprint 2 and Sprint 2 Expert are available in two primary versions:
- Sprint 2 Expert B: For powder feeding directly from the original box.
- Sprint 2 Expert H: For powder feeding from a 60-liter container.
Conversions between these two versions are possible.
Specialized Sets
- Mobile cup gun case set (Sprint 2 Expert CG): Ideal for individual parts, small quantities, and laboratory or development purposes. It is easy to set up and operate directly from the case.
- 3-liter table set (Sprint 2 Expert T): Includes a compact vibrating table, a 3-liter fluid container attachment, a Hi-Coat injector, and a 9 mm hose. This setup is designed for achieving extremely fine coatings in laboratory environments or for special applications like non-destructive testing of cast parts or high-surface-quality requirements on small parts (e.g., rim finishing).
A wide selection of accessories is available to complement the system.
