Shelly Duo RGBW Smart Bulb
A comprehensive guide to installing, setting up, and controlling your Shelly Duo RGBW smart LED bulb.
Getting Started: Installation and Initial Inclusion
Install the Shelly Duo RGBW into your light socket and turn the light on. The Shelly device should turn on.
Initial Device Check: If the device has not created its own Wi-Fi network (SSID) like ShellyBulbDuo-XXXXXX
or shellycolorbulb-XXXXXX
, ensure power is connected. If no network is visible, reset the device by powering it off and on 5 consecutive times*. Alternatively, if a switch/button is connected, press it 5 consecutive times*. The light will flash (red for RGBW, blue for white) indicating it has returned to Access Point (AP) Mode.
*Note: Wait 2-3 seconds between each OFF state during the reset process.

Shelly Cloud Application Setup
Shelly Cloud allows you to control and adjust all Shelly devices from anywhere globally, requiring only an internet connection and the mobile application on your smartphone or tablet.
Registration
Create an account on the Shelly Cloud mobile app to manage all your Shelly devices. If you forget your password, enter your registered email address to receive password reset instructions. Ensure your email is typed correctly during registration.
First Steps
After registering, create rooms for your Shelly devices. Shelly Cloud enables scene creation for automatic device control based on schedules, temperature, humidity, or light levels (with compatible sensors). Control and monitoring are easy via mobile phone, tablet, or PC.
Device Inclusion via App
- Connect the Shelly device to the power grid.
- Open the Shelly Cloud app and choose "Add Device".
- If using iOS, connect to the Wi-Fi network created by Shelly (e.g.,
shelly1-35FA58
). For Android, the app scans for new devices on your current Wi-Fi network. - After about 30 seconds, discovered devices will appear in the "Discovered Devices" list.
- Select the device you wish to include from the list.
- Enter a name for the device, choose a room, and optionally add an icon or picture. Press "Save Device".
- To enable remote control via Shelly Cloud, press "YES" on the prompt.
Device Settings and Control (App)
Once included, you can control and configure your Shelly device through the app. Use the Power button to turn the device on/off. Click the device name to access its details menu.
Color Mode
Select your desired color, adjust brightness intensity, and choose from various light effects:
- Effects: Off
- Effect: Meteor Shower
- Effect: Gradual Change
- Effect: Flash
White Mode
Operate as a standard white bulb. Control color temperature and brightness intensity.
Embedded Web Interface Control
You can also set up and control the Shelly device directly through a web browser without the mobile app.
Accessing the Web Interface
- Install the Shelly Duo into the light socket and turn it on.
- Connect your phone, tablet, or PC to the Wi-Fi network created by Shelly (e.g.,
ShellyBulbDuo-XXXXXX
). - Open your browser and navigate to
192.168.33.1
to access the device's web interface.
Web Interface Home Page
The home page displays current power consumption (W), device state (on/off), brightness level, device temperature, a power button, cloud connection status, and the present time.
Device Settings (Web Interface)
Access the settings menu for comprehensive control:
- Power On Default Mode: Configure the device's state upon receiving power (On, Off, or Restore Last Mode).
- Transition Time: Set the time (0-5000 ms) for the bulb to transition from 0% to 100% brightness.
- Time Zone and Geo-location: Enable or disable automatic detection.
- Firmware Update: Update the device's firmware when new versions are available.
- Factory Reset: Restore the device to its original factory settings.
- Device Reboot: Restart the device.
- Device Information: View Device ID (unique identifier) and Device IP (network IP address).

Automation and Scheduling
- Timer:
- Auto OFF: Automatically shut down after a predefined time (0 to cancel).
- Auto ON: Automatically turn on after a predefined time (0 to cancel).
- Weekly Schedule: Requires an internet connection. Schedule automatic on/off times based on predefined times, sunrise/sunset, or specified offsets. Multiple schedules can be set.
- Night Mode: Define a time period and brightness level for automatic brightness adjustment when the device turns on.
Internet and Security Settings
- Wi-Fi Mode - Client: Connect the device to an existing Wi-Fi network. Enter network name (SSID) and password, then press "Connect".
- Wi-Fi Client Backup: Configure a secondary Wi-Fi network for backup connectivity.
- Wi-Fi Mode - Access Point: Configure the device to create its own Wi-Fi Access Point. Enter the desired SSID and password, then press "Create Access Point".
- Cloud: Enable or disable connection to the Shelly Cloud service.
- Restrict Login: Secure the web interface with a username and password.
- SNTP Server: Set a custom SNTP server address.
ATTENTION: Incorrect settings may prevent connection. Reset the device if necessary.
