CaddyTalk CUBE Golf Rangefinder Manual

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the CaddyTalk CUBE Golf Rangefinder. As a manufacturing brand specializing in IT golf products, CaddyTalk aims to create new and improved golf products so that everyone can enjoy the sport of golf.

The CaddyTalk CUBE features the first-ever technology called Caddy Mode, under the title of 'Three-Dimensional measuring Laser Rangefinder'. Caddy Mode is CaddyTalk's Triangulation Technology that allows users to easily select a club by measuring the distance from the golf ball to the target (in the cart or gallery area) and informing them of the recommended distance.

Please read this manual carefully before using the product and keep the product instructions for future reference. • View 3: Shows the Focus Ring (1), View Finder (2), and the Battery Component (3).

LCD Description

The device's LCD display provides the following information:

  • Targeting Crosshair (4) and Active Laser (5) indicators.
  • CADDY MODE (7) indicator at the top.
  • E-Slope (1) and M-Slope (2) indicators.
  • Low Battery Mark (3).
  • Distance readings, including Distance Unit (Meter/Yard) (6), Slope-Adjusted Distance (8), and Straight Line Distance / Slope Angle (9). For example, '123 M' and '118'.

Power & Measurement

To measure distance:

  1. Press the power button to enable the display.
  2. Aim the crosshair at the target and press the power button again to start measuring.
  3. The straight line distance is displayed (e.g., '127 M').
  4. The slope-adjusted distance is then displayed above the straight line distance (e.g., '135 M' above '127').

The device automatically powers off if the button is not pressed for 10 seconds.

M-Slope (Magic Slope)

This function considers the altitude (high & low) of the target point to provide the best recommendation. For example, it can indicate an uphill gradient of 5.2 degrees.

The M-Slope is developed using ballistics principles within the golf zone. CaddyTalk's Magic Slope offers higher accuracy for recommended distances compared to existing rangefinders. The ballistics differences between CaddyTalk and other products are illustrated in comparative graphs, showing how CaddyTalk provides more accurate distance recommendations.

E-Slope (Environmental Slope)

Integrating the M-Slope Function, E-Slope calculates environmental factors such as temperature, altitude, and humidity of the golf course to deliver the most accurate measurement. For instance, high-level golf courses may require target distance adjustments due to lower air pressure compared to low-lying courses.

Example: If the measured distance to the pin is 127M:

  • For a 200m above sea level golf course, the E-Slope distance is 126M, and the Recommended Distance is 126M.
  • For a 1,000m above sea level golf course, the E-Slope distance is 121M, and the Recommended Distance is 121M.

Caddy Mode

CaddyTalk's pioneering technology allows users to easily select the right club by measuring the distance from the golf ball to the target (in the cart or gallery area) and providing a recommended distance.

How to use Caddy Mode:

With the device powered on, press the mode button once to activate Caddy Mode.

  1. CADDY MODE: When the left golf ball icon flashes, aim at the golf ball.
  2. CADDY MODE: When the right flag icon flashes, aim at the target.

The recommended distance, indicating the current slope from the golf ball location to the target, will then be displayed.

Measurement Steps:

  • Step 1: Measure the distance to the golf ball (viewfinder shows 'CADDY MODE', crosshair, 'e', and '37 M' in alignment state).
  • Step 2: Measure the distance to the target (pin) (viewfinder shows 'CADDY MODE', crosshair, 'e', and '97 M' in blinking state).
  • Step 3: View the distance from the ball to the target, reflecting the slope (viewfinder shows 'CADDY MODE', crosshair, 'e', and '105 M').

Caddy Mode Operation Diagram

A diagram illustrates the Caddy Mode process: A golf ball is shown on the left, with a dashed line indicating 'CADDY MODE A RECOMMENDED DISTANCE' leading to a target flag on a hill. A 'CUBE USER' with a golf cart is on the right, with lines showing 'STEP 2. MEASURE THE DISTANCE FROM USER TO TARGET' and 'STEP 1. MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE USER AND THE BALL'.

This function can be used to select a recommended club from the cart in advance or to measure the distance from a companion to the target.

Guidelines for Using Caddy Mode

The Caddy Mode function utilizes a gyroscope sensor. Due to the sensor's nature, its origin may be distorted by the surrounding environment (e.g., magnetic field, temperature). If there is a significant difference in measured distance, reset the sensor.

How to reset sensor:

  1. Power Off the device.
  2. Hold the power button and the mode button simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  3. When the 'SET' sign appears on the exterior display, place the product on a flat floor.
  4. Upon completion of the setting, the 'SET' sign will change to the 'OK' sign.

Visuals show the device states: 'Power Off' (display shows 'Set'), '3sec.' (display shows 'ing'), and 'Initialization complete' (display shows 'OK').

If 'NG' is displayed in the external display window, please repeat the reset steps.

Pin Finder & Jolt

  • Pin Finder: Hold the measurement button while scanning the viewfinder left and right. Only the distance to the nearest target within the scanned area is displayed. The viewfinder shows a golf scene with a targeting crosshair and a distance reading (e.g., 'e 135 M').
  • Jolt: When the correct distance is displayed after pressing the measurement button, a vibration alert notifies the user of the measurement completion. The viewfinder may show vibration indicators. Note: This function does not work at a low battery level.

Measurement Unit Setting & Slope Mode

  • Measurement Unit Setting:
    1. Power on the device.
    2. Press the MODE button twice to alternate between Meter (M) and Yard (Yd) units. Visuals show the device and viewfinder displays for Meter and Yard.
  • Slope Mode: The device supports E-Slope, M-Slope, and Non-Slope (Pro) modes.
    1. Hold the MODE button on the bottom for 2 seconds to enter Set-up mode.
    2. Press the Power button to alternate between slope functions.
    3. Press for 2 seconds to turn off Set-up mode.

Brightness Adjustment

To adjust the viewfinder brightness:

  1. Turn the power on.
  2. Press the mode button for 2 seconds to activate Set-Up Mode.
  3. Press the mode button once more to adjust the brightness.
  4. Use the power button to select brightness from Level 1 to 3.

Visuals show the device progression through these steps. Basic settings examples include: Brightness level 1 (For night), Brightness level 2 (Normal brightness), and Brightness level 3 (For daytime). Users can adjust brightness according to the environment.

Side Panel LCD Display

The external LCD on the right side of the product displays SLOPE MODE, Target Distance, and CADDY MODE. It shows a 'Slope Indicator' and the 'Target Distance' (or charging level when charging). A 'CADDY MODE Indicator' is also present.

The device features distinct buttons for different slope modes:

  • SLOPE E-Slope (Green button)
  • SLOPE M-Slope (Blue button)
  • SLOPE Non-Slope (Red button)

When CADDY MODE is activated, the selected slope mode applies accordingly:

  • CADDY MODE E-Slope CADDY MODE
  • CADDY MODE M-Slope CADDY MODE
  • CADDY MODE Straight Distance CADDY MODE

Battery Level / Charging

If the battery level is less than 20%, the JOLT function will not be activated. The LCD display includes a 'Low Battery mark' indicating a level below 20%.

To charge the device:

  1. Open the protection cover.
  2. Plug in the charging cable (USB-C type included) to start charging. A 5V, 2A charger is recommended.
  3. Avoid using high-speed chargers (over 5V, 2A) as overvoltage and overheating can damage the product.

A 'Charging Status' visual shows the device displaying '81%' charge.
