Keurig K-Slim Coffee Maker
Getting Started / Before You Brew
- Plug & Place: Remove packing tape from the coffee maker. Plug into a grounded outlet. Place a mug on the drip tray.
- Rinse & Fill: Remove the water reservoir lid, then lift the reservoir to remove it. Rinse with fresh water and fill to the MAX FILL line. Replace the reservoir, ensuring lock tabs engage, and replace the lid. Do not use distilled water.
- Lift & Lower: Lift and lower the handle. Do not insert a K-Cup pod. The coffee maker will power on automatically.
- Cleansing Brew: The 3 cup size buttons will blink. Press the 8oz button, then press the blinking brew button to start a cleansing brew. Pour the hot water into the sink. This one-time setup process is now complete.
Brewing Your First Cup
- Place Mug & Pod: Place a mug on the drip tray. For travel mugs, remove the drip tray and place the mug on the drip tray base. Lift the handle, place a K-Cup pod in the holder, and lower the handle completely to close the lid. Do not remove the foil lid on the K-Cup pod.
- Brew & Enjoy: The three brew size buttons will blink. Select your brew size, then press the blinking brew button. The brew button stays illuminated while brewing. Brewing is complete when buttons are no longer illuminated. Lift the handle and recycle the K-Cup pod in 3 easy steps. ⚠️ Caution: Hot water is present during brewing; do not lift the handle.
Coffee Maker Features
- Smart Start: Heats and brews in one simple process. Lift the handle, insert a K-Cup pod, select brew size, and press brew. The maker heats and begins brewing automatically.
- Auto Off: Automatically turns off the coffee maker 5 minutes after the last brew for energy savings.
- High Altitude Brewing Mode: To ensure proper function at higher altitudes (1,500 meters/5,000 feet), power off the maker, then press and hold the brew and 8oz buttons for 3 seconds. The 12oz button will illuminate to confirm activation.
Caring For Your Coffee Maker
Always turn off and unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Coffee Maker Exterior: Clean with a damp, soapy, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Never immerse in water or other liquids.
- Water Reservoir: Wipe the inside and underside of the lid with a damp, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. Do not dry the inside with a cloth to avoid lint. Allow to dry completely.
- Drip Tray: Can hold up to 237 ml/8 oz of overflow. Empty and clean occasionally. To remove, slide it out level to avoid spilling. Rinse and clean with a damp, soapy, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.
- K-Cup Pod Holder: Lift the handle, grasp the top of the holder, and push up from underneath to release. Align with the two front ribs and snap into place from the top after cleaning. ⚠️ Caution: Sharp needles are present; do not put fingers in the holder.
- Funnel: Wash regularly. Remove by pulling until it pops off. To replace, align snaps to the indent and snap back onto the holder.
- Exit Needle: Remove the pod holder assembly and detach the funnel. Locate the exit needle at the bottom of the K-Cup pod holder. Use a straightened paper clip to loosen coffee grounds.
- Entrance Needle: Lift the handle and locate the needle on the underside of the lid. Use a straightened paper clip to clean both holes. Lower the handle and run two water-only brew cycles.
Descaling Your Coffee Maker
Descale every 3 months or more often if water has high mineral content. This maintains performance and internal parts.
Descaling Procedure:
- Step 1: Descaling Solution Rinse: Pour Keurig Descale Solution into the reservoir. Fill the empty bottle with water and add to the reservoir. Place a large mug on the drip tray. To activate Descale Mode, with the maker off, press and hold the 8oz and 12oz buttons for 3 seconds until the DESCALE light is solid. Press the brew button when it flashes to start the rinse brew. Pour into sink. Repeat until ADD WATER light illuminates.
- Step 2: Rest & Rinse: Empty the reservoir, refill to MAX fill line with fresh water.
- Step 3: Fresh Water Rinse: Press the brew button when it flashes. Repeat until ADD WATER light illuminates. The maker will exit Descale Mode.
Note on Descaling: Foam may be dispensed; this is normal. If the maker does not fill properly after adding descaler, turn off/unplug, discard solution, rinse reservoir, refill with water, plug in, power on, and repeat Step 3. If issues persist, let the maker sit unplugged for 30 minutes.
Troubleshooting
- Grounds in Your Coffee: Clean exit and entrance needles with a straightened paper clip.
- Coffee Maker Will Not Brew: Ensure at least 177 ml/6 oz of water is in the reservoir. Add more if needed and press brew.
- Brewing a Partial Cup: Power off. Press and hold brew and 12oz buttons for 5 seconds to purge water. Discard and restart. Check exit needle and K-Cup Pod Holder for clogs. Descale if necessary.
- Coffee Maker Does Not Have Power or Shuts Off: Ensure power button is on. Plug into its own grounded outlet. The maker automatically turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity; press power to restart. Contact Customer Service if power is still absent.
