Important Safeguards: Safe Operation & Use
When using electrical appliances, always follow basic safety precautions:
- Read all instructions before use.
- Avoid touching hot surfaces; use handles and knobs.

- Use only manufacturer-recommended attachments to prevent fire, shock, or injury.
- Do not place on or near hot gas or electric burners, or in heated ovens.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not immerse cords, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquids to protect against fire, electric shock, and injury.
- Do not overfill the Water Reservoir.
- Use only water in this appliance. Do not add other liquids or foods, except as instructed in the Cleaning Instructions.
- Turn off and unplug the brewer before cleaning or maintenance. Allow it to cool before handling parts or cleaning.
- For best operation, plug the appliance into its own dedicated circuit to prevent electrical issues.
- Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug, or after malfunction. Contact Keurig Customer Service for any issues.
- Keep the cord from hanging over edges or touching hot surfaces.
- To disconnect, press the Power Button to "OFF" and remove the plug from the wall outlet.
- Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children.

- Consult a qualified electrician if grounding instructions are unclear.
- Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
WARNING TO USERS AND PARENTS:
- DO NOT permit children to use the brewer without adult supervision, as it dispenses very hot water.
- SPECIAL NOTICE FOR HOT COCOA USERS: Immediately after using a Hot Cocoa K-Cup® pack, run a Hot Water Brew Cycle without a K-Cup® pack to prevent clogging the exit needle. Do not assume the next user will do this.
CAUTIONS

- Extremely hot water is present during the brew process. Do not lift the handle or open the K-Cup® Pack Assembly Housing during brewing.
- Do not fill the Water Reservoir above the MAX FILL line to avoid overflow. Use a large mug for the first brew of the day if the reservoir is filled to the top.
- Always keep the brewer in its upright position to avoid injury or damage.
Short Cord Instructions
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping. If an extension cord is used:
- The electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least equal to the appliance's rating.
- The cord should be arranged so it won't be pulled on by children or tripped over.
- The extension cord must include a 3-prong grounding plug.

Set-Up
Helpful Hints
- Plug the brewer into its own grounded outlet. If the circuit is overloaded, the brewer may not function properly. Operate on its own circuit, separate from other appliances.
- Keep your brewer turned "ON." To brew anytime, keep it on. You can set it to automatically turn off two hours after your last brew (see page 10).
- For the best taste, Keurig recommends using bottled or filtered water. Water quality varies; if you notice an undesirable taste, consider bottled or filtered water. Follow manufacturer's instructions for filtration systems.
- Customize size, flavor, and brew. With over 200 K-Cup® varieties and 3 brew sizes (Small Cup-5.25 oz., Small Mug-7.25 oz., Large Mug-9.25 oz.), you can customize your brew. For a strong, intense cup, select an Extra Bold K-Cup® pack and a smaller brew size for more intense flavor.
- Remove K-Cup® pack after use. See page 7 for brewing instructions.
- To brew into a travel mug, remove the Drip Tray Assembly and place the travel mug on the Drip Tray Base.
- De-scale brewer regularly. See pages 11 and 12 for instructions.

Setting Up Your Brewer
- Unwrap cord and plug the brewer into a grounded outlet. Remove all packing tape.
- Place a large mug (10 oz. minimum) on the Drip Tray Plate.
- Remove the Water Reservoir from the brewer by first removing the lid, then lifting the reservoir straight up and away from the brewer. Rinse with fresh water.

NOTE: If the Water Reservoir is empty or not in place, the blue Add Water Light will illuminate. The Small Mug Button will not activate until water is added.
The brewer will automatically fill with water and then heat it. This takes about 4 minutes. During heating, the red Heating Light will illuminate. Once heated, the red Heating Light turns off, and the Small Cup, Small Mug, and Large Mug Buttons will illuminate. NOTE: Do not lift the Handle during heating.
You may see small amounts of water coming from the Vent and dripping into the Water Reservoir during heating; this is normal.
Lift and lower the Handle. Press the Small Mug Button to start a cleansing brew. Pour the hot water into the sink.
The brewer may take 15 seconds to reheat water between brews; the red Heating Light may be illuminated. When the water has heated, the red Heating Light will turn off.

- The selected blue Brew Button will illuminate while brewing. CAUTION: Extremely hot water is present during brewing. Do not lift the Handle or open the K-Cup® Pack Assembly Housing during brewing.
- There may be a short pause before brewing begins. The process lasts about 1 minute, ending with a burst of air to remove liquid from the K-Cup® pack.
- Lift the Handle and dispose of the used K-Cup® pack. CAUTION: K-Cup® pack will be hot.
- Enjoy your first cup of Keurig Brewed® coffee, tea, or hot cocoa!
Ready to Brew Your First Cup (Continued)
The red Heating Light may illuminate as water heats for the next brew cycle. The brewer will be ready in approximately 15 seconds. NOTE: During this period, the brewer prepares for the next brew. The pump may make a vibrating sound; this is normal.
Stopping the Brew Process
If you need to stop brewing, press the Power Button to turn the brewer off. The flow of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa will stop, the heating element will shut off, and the green Power Light will turn off. NOTE: You may get less beverage in your cup. We recommend performing a cleansing brew after a terminated brew.
Adding Water
The blue Add Water Light illuminates when the water level is low or the Water Reservoir is removed. The brewer will not allow brewing when this light is on.
The Water Reservoir can be filled in two ways:
- Remove the Water Reservoir Lid and pour water directly into the Water Reservoir while it is attached to the brewer. Fill to the MAX FILL line. Replace the lid.
- Remove the Water Reservoir from the brewer by lifting it straight up after removing the lid. Fill with water to the MAX FILL line. Place the Water Reservoir back on the brewer and replace the lid. IMPORTANT: Do not remove the Water Reservoir during the brewing process.
SECTION 1 Set-Up & First Brew
Brewing Iced Beverages
For best results, brew hot beverages over ice. Place a tall cup filled with ice on the Drip Tray Plate (the Drip Tray Assembly can be removed for taller cups). Choose your K-Cup® pack and press your preferred brew size. Look for the Brew Over Ice icon on K-Cup® packs. IMPORTANT: Do not brew into a glass cup, as it may crack or break.
Brewing Hot Water
Your brewer can produce hot water for hot cocoa, cooking, soups, etc. Simply raise and lower the Handle without a K-Cup® pack. The blue Brew Buttons will flash. Place a mug on the Drip Tray Plate and press a Brew Button. NOTE: After brewing a hot cocoa K-Cup® pack, run a cleansing brew without a K-Cup® pack.
Purging the Brewer
If the brewer has not been used for over a week, purge the water from the internal tank:
- If there is water in the Water Reservoir, remove the lid, lift the reservoir, discard water, rinse, and refill. Place the reservoir back and replace the lid. (If no water, simply refill.)
- Ensure the brewer is on. Lift and lower the Handle without a K-Cup® pack and wait for the red Heating Light to turn off.
- The blue Brew Buttons will flash. Place a mug on the Drip Tray Plate and press a Brew Button.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 two more times to purge water from the internal tank.
If you experience problems, contact Customer Service at 1.866.901.BREW (2739).
SECTION 2 Controls & Indicators (LED Control Center)
Programming Auto Off Timer Feature
Set the brewer to turn off two hours after the last brew.
- Press the Power Button to turn on the brewer.
- Press the black Auto Off Button. The green Auto Off Light will illuminate. Your brewer will automatically turn off two hours after your last brew.
- To disable the Auto Off Timer, press the black Auto Off Button again; the green Auto Off Light will turn off.
SECTION 3 Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning External Parts
Regular cleaning of external components is recommended.
- Never immerse the brewer in water or other liquids. Clean the Housing and external components with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth.
- The Drip Tray can accumulate overflow. Inspect and rinse the Drip Tray and Drip Tray Plate periodically. To remove the Drip Tray Assembly, slide it toward you. Do not place these parts in the dishwasher. Clean with a damp, soapy, non-abrasive cloth and rinse thoroughly.
Cleaning the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly
- Cleaning the Parts—The K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly can be placed on the top shelf of a dishwasher (use low temperature cycles). To remove from the brewer, lift the Handle, grasp the top of the K-Cup® Pack Holder, and push up on the bottom until it releases. Align the K-Cup® Pack Holder with the opening using the front ribs and snap into place from the top.
- Cleaning the Funnel—The Funnel can be removed by pulling until it pops off. The Funnel is dishwasher safe. To replace, snap it back onto the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly.
- Cleaning the Exit Needle—The Exit Needle is located on the inside bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly. If a clog occurs due to coffee grounds, use a paper clip or similar tool. Remove the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly and detach the Funnel. Insert the paper clip into the Exit Needle to loosen the clog and push it out. The K-Cup® Pack Holder is dishwasher safe. CAUTION: Sharp needles puncture the K-Cup® pack. To avoid injury, do not put fingers in the K-Cup® Pack Assembly Housing.
Cleaning the Water Reservoir & Water Reservoir Lid
The Water Reservoir Lid and Water Reservoir should be periodically inspected and cleaned. They should not be put in the dishwasher. Clean with a damp, soapy, non-abrasive cloth and rinse thoroughly. Do not dry the inside of the Water Reservoir with a cloth, as lint may remain.
To clean the filter screen at the base of the Water Reservoir, empty it and follow these procedures:
NOTE: If using a water filter, remove it before cleaning.
- Rinse the filter screen with strong faucet water.
- If you have a sprayer, aim it at the filter screen.
- Fill the Water Reservoir with approximately two inches of clean water and agitate (shake).
Empty the Water Reservoir, fill with clean water, and return it to the brewer. Repeat if needed. CAUTION: Rinse the Water Reservoir thoroughly after cleaning to ensure no cleaning solutions remain.
De-Scaling Your Brewer
Mineral content in water can cause calcium deposits or scale buildup in your brewer, which can hinder performance. De-scaling helps maintain the heating element and internal parts.
De-scale every 3-6 months for optimal performance, or sooner if the red Descale Light illuminates. Even if the Descale Light is not illuminated, continue de-scaling every 3-6 months.
Follow the de-scaling procedure on page 12.
SECTION 3 Cleaning & Maintenance
De-Scaling Instructions
A. PREPARE
- You will need: at least 48 oz. of undiluted white vinegar, an empty sink, and a large ceramic mug.
- Empty the water from the Water Reservoir. NOTE: If using a water filter, remove it before proceeding.
- Disable the Auto Off feature.
B. FILL AND CLEAN
- Pour approximately 48 oz. of vinegar into the Water Reservoir, filling to the MAX FILL line.
- Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and run a cleansing brew. DO NOT USE A K-CUP® PACK. Pour the contents into the sink.
- Repeat the brew process without a K-Cup® pack until the blue Add Water Light illuminates.
- Let the brewer stand for at least 4 hours while still on.
- Discard any residual vinegar and rinse the Water Reservoir thoroughly.
C. RINSE
- Fill the Water Reservoir with fresh water to the MAX FILL line.
- Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and run a cleansing brew. Pour the contents into the sink.
- Repeat the brew process until the blue Add Water Light is illuminated.
- You may need additional cleansing brews if any residual taste remains.
NOTE: If the red Descale Light remains illuminated after the procedure, repeat the de-scaling steps.
Service
Beyond recommended cleaning and maintenance, this brewer is not user serviceable. For service, refer to the Warranty section.
Storage
Empty the Water Reservoir before storing. Store your brewer in a safe, frost-free environment in its upright position to avoid water leakage. Storing in a cold environment risks water freezing inside and causing damage. When preparing to use after storage, rinse the Water Reservoir with fresh water and run three cleansing brews without a K-Cup® pack.
If moving the brewer, turn it off, unplug it, and empty the Water Reservoir. If the brewer has been in sub-freezing temperatures, let it warm to room temperature for at least 2 hours before use.
