Description
BFP 20/21 fuel pumps, available in size 3 and 5, are designed for small to medium-sized domestic fuel burners with capacities up to 42 l/h.

Identification
The product code is structured to indicate specific features. For example, BFP B 21 L 5 L:
- BFP: Base pump series.
- B: Indicates biofuel readiness (up to 100%).

Functions
Operation
Fuel is drawn from the suction inlet (S) through the filter (H) to the gear set, where pressure is increased. When voltage is applied to the NC-valve, it opens, directing fuel to the nozzle outlet (E). The diaphragm (D) within the pressure regulator (T) maintains a constant pressure, set by the adjustment screw (P1).
In 2-pipe systems, excess fuel is returned to the tank via the return outlet (R). In 1-pipe systems, with a plugged return outlet (R) and the screw (A) removed, fuel is returned internally to the gear set.

Cut-off function, solenoid valve (BFP 21)
When the burner stops, the voltage to the NC-valve is cut off, immediately stopping fuel flow to the nozzle outlet. The BFP 20 model does not have a solenoid valve; a separate cut-off valve must be installed in the nozzle line for such systems.
Bleeding
For 2-pipe systems, the pump is self-priming, with bleeding occurring through the constriction (O) to the return outlet (R). In 1-pipe systems with a plugged return outlet (R), bleeding is performed via the nozzle outlet (E) or the pressure gauge port (P).
Warranty
Danfoss cannot provide warranty for pumps used outside the specified technical data or with fuel containing abrasive particles.
Note
⚠️ Note: Do not mount the pump with the solenoid valve pointing downwards. The solenoid valve has an approved life expectancy of 250,000 operations or 10 years. Danfoss ensures all pump components are 100% bio-compatible by adapting materials for different fuel types.
